2024 New Hampshire gubernatorial election
The 2024 New Hampshire gubernatorial election will be held on November 5, 2024, to elect the
governor of New Hampshire , concurrently with the
2024 U.S. presidential election , as well as
elections to the
United States Senate , elections to the
United States House of Representatives , and various
state and local elections. Incumbent
Republican Governor
Chris Sununu is eligible to seek re-election to a fifth term, but has announced that he will not do so, leaving the election an open race.
[1] Following a state constitutional amendment passed in 2022 in North Dakota, New Hampshire is 1 of only 13 states with no gubernatorial term limits.
Along with neighboring
Vermont , this race is one of two Republican-held governorships up for election in 2024 in a state
Joe Biden won in the
2020 presidential election . Primary elections will take place on September 10, 2024.
