This article has been checked against the following criteria for B-class status:
Probably it would be out of place, unless they are specifically of interest to camel trains. There's a [camel]] article, though; check that out. - DavidWBrooks 18:48, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Lattimore's journey
His 1926 journey resulted in his account of the experiences: The Desert Road to Turkestan. London : Methuen & Co., 1928 (or London : Methuen, [1928]); Boston : Little, Brown, and Company, 1929. The UK ed. seems to have preceded the US one.--

Camels as travelling libraries
The probably does not belong in the article but it has elements in common
A Camel Library Service in
Kenya. This service which is funded by the Kenyan government and as a charity in
Garissa and
Wajir near the border with Somalia. The service started with three camels in October 1996 and had twelve in 2006 delivering 7000 books,[1] daily in English,
Somali and
Swahili[2] This service has been used as a background for the novel The Camel Bookmobile by
Masha Hamilton.
This article would benefit from a brief discussion of average distances traveled per day by camel trains under various conditions. — Preceding

There already a discussion of this under "Camel caravan organization " / "Speed", based on
Owen Lattimore's account (as experienced in
Inner Mongolia in the 1920s). The main point is that you travel at a pedestrian's walking speed. --

Excellent point. I have slightly expanded the introduction, which was too brief, and mentioned this fact, which isn't immediately obvious. -
