John Laurence Milne is a British Liberal Democrat politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Horsham since 2024. [1]
Milne grew up in Epsom. [2] Between 1979 and 1982, Milne was awarded a scholarship and completed his Bachelor of Arts course in English Literature at the University of Oxford. [3] Prior to entering politics, Milne worked as a creative director in advertising. [4]
At the 2024 General Election, Milne gained a majority vote share in the newly drawn boundary of Horsham achieving 21,632 votes, defeating incumbent Jeremy Quin. [5] In doing so, Milne became the first non Conservative MP to represent the constituency since James Clifton Brown, elected at the 1876 Horsham by-election. [6]
From May 2019, Milne served on Horsham District Council. [7]
After working in London and Dublin for a number of years, Milne lives in Horsham with his family. [2]
