Jessica Jade Toale is a British Labour Party politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Bournemouth West since 2024. [1]
Toale has worked as a foreign affairs and international development adviser to numerous organisations. She was a political adviser to Labour MP Ivan Lewis from 2011 to 2013, in his role as Shadow Secretary of State for International Development and later Northern Ireland. [2] Toale co-founded the Labour Foreign Policy Group. [3] In 2016, she was on the Labour shortlist for candidates in the 2016 Richmond Park by-election. [4]
She was elected as a Member of Westminster City Council for West End in 2022, [5] and subsequently appointed Deputy Cabinet Member for Culture, Heritage and the Arts. [6]
Toale was elected as MP for Bournemouth West at the 2024 general election, defeating incumbent Conor Burns to become its first non- Conservative representative. She had previously contested the Labour candidacy for the 2016 Richmond Park by-election without success. [7]
