History
The district was home to a significant
Assyrian population before the
Assyrian genocide , but is mostly populated by
Herki
Kurds today.

Demographics
Population
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the rural district's population was 7,893 in 1,344 households.
[9] There were 7,765 inhabitants in 1,603 households at the following census of 2011.
[10] The 2016 census measured the population of the rural district as 8,381 in 1,862 households. The most populous of its 39 villages was
Mavana , with 1,314 people.
