This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I am an employee of Hobart City Council working on Salamanca Market and therefore have a significant conflict of interest. Per WP:COI I have only made one minor edit to this page. However, for accuracy I've flagged this proposed change.
I think the following paragraph in the Since 2000 section should be removed or reviewed:
This does not accurately reflect the outcome of the Council meeting or the advice provided. The Mercury article in question ( The Mercury is the local newspaper) does not make these claims, specifically in regard to the entity being an "independent profit making company" or to concern about a lack of consultation. The article specifically mentions that consultation will be undertaken. Also, to quote from correspondence from the General Manager to stallholders from October 2009:
The issue of a proposal to change governance of the Market remains contentious but after some consultation, no further action has been taken since 2009 to progress to a new governance model. Consultation on this is currently slated for 2013 after completion of the licence agreement review discussed in that article.
