I think we need a talk page specifically on Soltangaliev so that we can see sources about him right here.
I am reading about him in a recently published document collection: I.R. Tagirov (ed.), Neizvestnyi Sultan-Galiev: Rassekrechennye dokumenty i materialy (Kazan': Tatarskoe knyzhnoe izdatel'stvo, 2002). For those not knowing Russian, the title is "The Unknown Sultan-Galiev: declassified documents and materials."
As a first comment, the recent change of his place of birth is contradicted by this source, which states that he was born on 12 July 1892 in the village of Elembet'evo, Ufa province. So, I think I will change this back on the article page. If Rad8 has a source for the change, please post it.-- Mrbaker1917 ( talk) 10:00, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
I have been adding to this entry as I research SG. He was a fascinating person. One thing I would like to do is replace the quotation given with a more complete translation of the article from which that quotation likely came. The quotation at present has no footnote. So, I think I can do this, preferring source based quoting if at all possible. Please let me know if there are any objections.-- Mrbaker1917 ( talk) 20:46, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
I am greatly impressed by your proposal. When I came across Mirsäyet Soltanğäliev in my reading, I never realised that such contributions would be appearing so soon. I have never been able to learn Russian, or Tartar so the information you are sharing opens up an important resource in the English language. For example the quote you have just provided certainly helps an understanding of his political stance; Harrypotter ( talk) 16:59, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
The addition concerning Sultan-Galiev's posthumous rehabilitation needs a source. Mrbaker1917 ( talk) 14:46, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Sultan-Galiev, Mir Said Sultan Galiev, Mir Said Sultan-Galiev, Mirsaid Sultan Galiev, Mirsaid Sultan-Galiev are acceptable.
It's very clear Mirsäyet Soltanğäliev is not common name in English.
Galiev or Galiyev:
Sultan-Galiev (Sultan Galiev) is more common than Sultan-Galiyev (Sultan Galiev)

Now it is wrongly spelled, an English reader may apologize that his pesonal name was Sultan and his family name was Galiev. But it's incorrect. I think all the English traditional names for him are mistaked, so let's use the closest to the Tatar form.
Another question is why Takabeg didn't inform me about the requested move, I had some to object the proposed move (at least to Mirsaid Sultangaliev). -- Üñţïf̣ļëŗ (see also: ә? Ә!) 04:55, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

– The old name is based on English name misspell that was wrongly posted over the www; the personal name is not Sultan, Sultan (as it isometimes spelled) is a part of the last name. In the transcription system, that is used now, the name should be Mirsaid Sultan-Galiev. Üñţïf̣ļëŗ (see also: ә? Ә!) 10:16, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
