Why does this place name have the definite article in front of it when used? This is unusual for a place name, yet is not addressed anywhere in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:BC7C:CE20:31B1:E91F:DDDD:753E ( talk) 16:17, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
The Kimberley was not named after the Kimberley Diamond fields in Africa. KHS Boab 09:35, 26 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by KHS-Boab ( talk • contribs)
Below was written on this page and AFAICT this is a total myth even though a reference (unreliable) has been cited.
The region was named after the Kimberley diamond fields in South Africa. citation needed disputed – discuss This was due to the two areas sharing a similar landscape. [1] unreliable source? disputed – discuss The discovery of diamonds in the Kimberley region has subsequently added to the likeness. citation needed disputed – discuss
I have since found that this has been here since 2009 - added 17:32, 22 July 2009 User:Shiftchange (add named after, ref) (undo) - I know what good work Shiftchange does (so absolutely no offence intended) and understand he has cited a source, however, you can't believe everything you read! I will be placing further information on the page that backs up my claim that this is a false statement from a dubuiously sourced book/article. My idea is to possibly leave part of this and incorporate it into "One of the myths, surrounding the naming of the Kimberley is..." etc. Any comment welcome.

I have added a section on this campaign, as I believe that it has been a very significant development that involves the region.-- Soulparadox ( talk) 15:59, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
In my opinion there should be some kind of reference for the Kimberley Plan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.142.94.35 ( talk) 20:09, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

I have just added a section on indigenous languages of the Kimberleys (in the absence of an actual article on the areal grouping of the Kimberley languages), based off of the introductory chapters of Bill McGregor's 2004 book. [1] Hopefully this spurs on others to include additional information on indigenous people and the indigenous history of the Kimberley region, both of which are sadly currently rather lacking. 2A02:2C40:100:B206:0:0:1:DFA0 ( talk) 16:22, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

The material about the Save the Kimberley Campaign is wildly out of date - as is the case with related articles about the area and the proposed LNG project. Somebody with more knowledge should update it. - DavidWBrooks ( talk) 15:15, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
