I see there is a very good article on the Gunbarrel Highway at the wikitravel web page at wikitravel.org/en/Gunbarrel_Highway. Should these articles be combined? Or would a link suffice? Or even a redirect? What's the procedure regarding similar stories on different wiki projects? Gazjo 04:32, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Fellow (gender neutral) editors. The articles Len Beadell and Gunbarrel Highway both erroneously state that the Gunbarrel Highway was Len Beadell’s first road. The first road he built was from Mabel Creek Station to Emu in Feb-Mar 1953. The Gunbarrel Highway was begun in November 1955. There is enough evidence in his own books to back up this fact, as well as from other sources, which I can cite. It is my intention to correct the error in both articles, provided there are no objections, by the end of May 2011. The change will involve a partial re-write. If one of you out there chooses to do so beforehand, well that is your prerogative. -- Summerdrought ( talk) 07:17, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Ref: the Gunbarrel Hwy sign photographed at Wiluna WA, has anyone noticed the way
Ayers Rock is spelt on the sign?
I'll bet that will not be fixed in a hurry!

The Map on the main article has the caption, "The Gunbarrel Highway is shown in black". The section between Warakurna and Warburton (depicted correctly as the Great Central Road) was never part of the Gunbarrel Highway, as it was built at a later date. The original road went north-west from Giles parallel to the Rawlinson Range, before dipping down almost due south towards Warburton. At Jackie Junction some 55km north of Warburton, the Gunbarrel Highway turned west and continued to Carnegie Station. The Gunbarrel Highway as depicted needs amendment. I would also like to point out that the Gunbarel Highway ends near Warburton and has never extended south or east of these points. The map is very misleading, especially the way that the Wiluna-Carnegie road is clearly shown to not be part of the Gunbarrel Highway. Wiluna-Carnegie Road is not the official name either - the official names are Wongawol Road and Carnegie Road. 203.23.209.190 ( talk) 14:39, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
