The article has a "clarification needed" pending. Some footnotes have raw numbers which do not lead anythere. Cambalachero ( talk) 18:03, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay. I will clarify. There is, for example, a paragraph that says
"The Dnestr radars were accepted for service by the Soviet Army[clarification needed] in April 1967 and became part of the space surveillance network SKKP. [8][11]:434"
The footnotes [8] and [11] are acceptable. The problem is the ":434". Yes, the page is needed, but it must be included within the footnote, not next to it. The only thing that should be visible in the article text is the footnote, the small number that takes the reader to the place with more information. Everything else should be inside the ref tags, and not be visible withn the text. Cambalachero ( talk) 16:05, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Reviewing |
Reviewer: QatarStarsLeague ( talk · contribs) 03:30, 13 November 2012 (UTC) This seems as if it is a good enough article, although ostensibility can sometimes be deceiving. All in all, the images used in the article are fine, and the references appear to be fine after a few passing glances. The consummate review will start, reputedly, tomorrow. QatarStarsLeague ( talk) 03:30, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
So, as you have probably assumed, this review will be divided into segments, each corresponding with a section of the article. We will start with the lead:
"They are phased array radars designed to give early warning of attack from ballistic missiles." Shouldn't the term used be radar systems?
"In common with other Soviet and Russian early warning radars they are named after rivers, the Dnestr and the Dnepr." Such as? Provide the examples within the article.
"As of 2012 the Russian early warning network still consists of some radars of this vintage." Comma after 2012, please.
Everything is good here, except for one small peccancy:
Please provide the reference you used for the "Hen House" footnote in the corroborating entry in the infobox.
I fixed a grammar issue, but there are still some other issues:
"Work on the system was led by design bureau KB-1 which proposed using VHF radar RTN (Russian: РТН) and the Dunay-2 UHF radar." Can we have a wikilink for both proposed radar systems. If not, can you give a one or two sentence explanation on what VHF/UHF radar is?
"and RTI proposed using VHF radar TsSO-P (Russian: ЦСО-П) and UHF radar TsSS-30 (Russian: ЦСС-30)." Same thing here. Although if you cannot provide references here, an explanation is not needed, as you will already have written one above.
Other than those mentioned issues, the section is good.
I will be calling it a day right here, and will commence again when the issues are addressed/fixed.

Given the hasty response, I will retread upon my previous statement and review some more:
"This involved two sites separated in latitude..." The construction process involved building two sites?
"The two sites chosen were at the village of Mishelevka near Irkutsk in Siberia, which was called OS-1, and at Cape Gulshad on Lake Balkhash near Sary Shagan..." Please wikilink all geographic mentions.
"The radars were completed in late 1966..." As I stated earlier, I believe the term used should be radar systems, as opposed to radars.
"The Dnestr radars were accepted for service by the Soviet Army[clarification needed] in April 1967 and became part of the space surveillance network SKKP." I don't believe I can remove the existing tag until you wikilink to the article you intend to denote when you say "Soviet Army".
Other than those issues, everything is good.
Changed a few things for heightened grammatical accuracy. Still some things remain:
"In 1970 the radars at Olenegorsk and Skrunda, and an associated command centre were accepted for service. According to Podvig (2002) it seems they were positioned to identify missile launches from NATO submarines in the Norwegian and North Seas." Need comma after 1970. Also where was the associated command center. A comma is also needed after the 2002 enclosed in parentheses.
"A version of this radar was built at the Sary Shagan test site..." Remember to wikilink all geographic mentions.
The image is good, so once the issues are addressed/fixed, this section will pass.
"An improved array was designed which covered 60 degrees rather than 30. The first Dnepr radar was built at Balkhash as a new radar, cell 5. It entered service on 12 May 1974.[2] The second was a new early warning station at Sevastopol. New Dneprs were also built at Mishelevka and another at Skrunda, and then one at Mukachevo." Plese wikilink all geographic mentions.
Other than that, this section passes.
I will be stopping here to allow you deference to fix the outstanding issues.

Ready to start again!
"At each end of the two arrays there is a set of transmitting and receiving equipment." Comma after arrays.
Beyond that, we are good!
"The station in Balkhash remains the only Dnepr operational outside Russia." Please clarify for readers where Balkash is located.
That completes it. The review is over, and after these issues are addressed, I will pass it.
