"Caion became a figure of infamy and ridicule in the Romanian context," - repetition of "figure", perhaps "Caion was equated with infamy and ridicule", or something similar
" under various pseudonyms: C. A. I. Nică Burduşel, Ion Filionescu, Marin Gelea, Isac Şt. Micu, Roman Muşat etc.[1]" - suggest removal of "etc" and simply state "under various pseudonyms, such as ..."
