The abbreviation "BSC" is introduced in the 1940 section with no explanation - and I am not sure that the abbreviation "BSSC" was widely used in English.
It was certainly known as Baltic Shipping Company (BSC) during and after the Soviet era, not just by westerners, but also by the company itself when addressing a western audience, eg:
[1],
[2],
[3],
[4]. I don't have proper references to hand to show when this started.
