I plan to remove all elements of history that are specific to the SANFL; it is simply duplication across two articles and otherwise requires unnecessary synchronising. Murtoa ( talk) 06:47, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Image:SA-1986.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

What constitutes a great footballer? What constitutes a great, elite footballer? Why are there no pre 1967 footballers noted? Who is Andrew Payze? Browning ave ( talk) 12:01, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Current listing of "great" footballers and notable AFL is a totally arbitrary list. Propose to replace with those SA footballers who have been recognised in Australian Football Hall of Fame. Murtoa ( talk) 10:49, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm currently reading 'How Football Began' by Tony Collins, and there's a brief but intriguing reference to the historic Adelaide Football Club playing "its own version of football" prior to deciding in 1877 to adopt the Victorian rules (to facilitate inter-colonial matches). I wonder if anyone knows anything more about this and is able to add something to the article. The reference given is Shane Pill & Lionel Frost, 'R.E.N. Twopeny and the Establishment of Australian Football in Adelaide, International Journal of the History of Sport, vol. 33.' — Preceding unsigned comment added by SDavies ( talk • contribs) 09:36, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
