Palestinian sports has deteriorated due to the
ongoing Israeli invasion of Gaza . By May 2024, at least 265 Palestinian sportsmen,

better source needed ] 55 of them footballers, were killed in Israeli attacks, of whom 18 were children and 37 teenagers. The Israeli invasions have also led to destruction stadiums and closure of clubs.

Palestinian football, by passing through the developments of the second intifada and successive Israeli wars in Gaza, was able to enter the Asian Nations Cup in three consecutive periods. But
Israel's recent war in Gaza has made it difficult for the Palestinian football team to participate in the preliminary stage of the
2026 World Cup and the
2024 Asian Nations Cup .
