The 2001β02 Carolina Hurricanes season was the franchise's 23rd season in the National Hockey League and fifth as the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes made it as far as the Stanley Cup Finals, but lost in five games to the Detroit Red Wings.

Center Rod Brind'Amour has agreed to another season with the Carolina Hurricanes at his current salary of $4.25 million, but the deal might change soon.
The deal is worth just under $5 million a year for five years, with an option for a sixth year that would bring the total package to about $30 million.
