Interested editors Before applying, have a look at our advice for prospective clerks. Applications are discussed by the checkuser and SPI clerk team, and new clerks are added as needed. Applications where the editor has become less active on Wikipedia may be removed by a checkuser or SPI clerk. Applicants are encouraged to actively participate in SPI cases as this will increase their chances of being selected. Clerks/Checkusers - This is a list of editors who would like to become trainees. Please leave endorsements/comments as appropriate, and remove each request once a consensus (either accepting or rejecting a prospective clerk) has formed. Editors who have their application rejected should contact the removing editor for feedback before re-applying.

I'm on vacation from tomorrow to next Tuesday and probably won't be online much but, once I'm back, I'd be very happy to lend a hand with WP:SPI. I've mentioned before that I am not, at this time, interested in becoming an admin so I asked how I could help otherwise and was advised to apply to be a trainee clerk. So here I am. Hello all, I am returning after being a trainee clerk in 2023. I did some training last year with RoySmith, but then had to go on a hiatus which included a six-month absence from Wikipedia entirely. The SPIHelper just barfed while I was merging Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Justinaintime into Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MariaJaydHicky. I got a 'failed to undelete Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MariaJaydHicky', then two 'Edit failed on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MariaJaydHicky: internal_api_error_DBQueryError' messages. The reported account is confirmed to the master, and I've blocked them, and the script has created a new case for MariaJaydHicky, but all the history is gone. Can someone better than me a merges/undeletions etc recover the situation please? I'll then finish off the paperwork and request lock, don't want to edit the new case until it's tidied up.
