Small edits

What if a reader could select a small part of the page and right click and choose to go in and edit at that point? Wakelamp d[@-@]b ( talk) 06:50, 2 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Different editing models

I agree with this thrust, including breaking editing up into various subtasks, done by different parties. If we require wiki editors to all be 'renaissance people' i.e. able to multi-task, that will rule out many. Live feedback with collaborative editing

We should consider the possibility of collaborative real-time editing. This won't help in the short term as it would be a major software upgrade by WMF on the order of Visual Editor, but given the extent of the problem and the increasing issues with WP:RETENTION, I think this is worth looking at for the medium term. The idea would be that new editors would opt in to mentor- or group-based collaborative editing, and then get live feedback by editors watching while they type. Perhaps this is out of scope for what you want to achieve with this page, but I thought it was worth a mention. Mathglot ( talk) 21:23, 5 December 2021 (UTC) reply

VE does have some experimental collaborative editing capabilities (see mw:VisualEditor/Real-time collaboration), but it seems unlikely it would ever make it to production due to issues such as providing attribution. – SD0001 ( talk) 03:09, 6 December 2021 (UTC) reply
