Wikipedia Takes Boston is a scavenger hunt for photographs of Boston. The aim is to gather freely-licensed photographs of
Boston's many neighborhoods and better illustrate articles related to the city.
The event is scheduled to start on April 17 at 12:00 PM in front of
Boston Public Library in Copley Square, and end at 5:30 PM also in front of Boston Public Library . For a list of goals for places to photograph, see
Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Boston/Goals. (Feel free to add more places there!) Points will be assigned to neighborhoods based on how difficult it is to get to them and navigate around once there.
The day of the event, teams of up to three people will each choose a neighborhood of Boston to gather photographs for. Then around 12:30 we'll disperse throughout Boston -- on foot, bike, bus, subway, and car. When we convene at 5:30 we will upload our images to Wikimedia Commons and tally up how many points each team has to determine a winner. Each person on the winning team will receive a (real, small cast-iron)
barnstar in appreciation of their awesomeness.
I'll be available until about 5pm, which is when I need to head to the airport and go to Florida for the
Passover holiday.

This was fun! It was great to see everyone who came. There are definitely areas left unphotographed for future shutterbugs, and areas that weren't in good sun or were covered with banners (for the marathon). –

Sadly I will be out of town as well. But if there are things left un-photographed I would love to work on that later. Given recent Rain Date discussions: I would be able to attend if event is postponed

Team Sweatshirt, comprised of
User:Jamesofur and
User:Cryptic C62, took about 190 photos, though some are duplicates and others are unusable. I'm in the process of uploading them now, and will give details on my results when I'm done. --Cryptic C62 ·

Out of a total of 190 pictures, I have uploaded 125 usable non-duplicates which can be seen
here. Some of them were goals, some of them were just cool things that James and I happened to notice as we were bopping around. --Cryptic C62 ·
