Smithsonian Institution on the documentation of currency.

Benjamin Franklin . The rough borders are typical for currency from this era; horrifyingly, many dealers will take scissors to these ancient currencies to neaten them up and make them fit modern æsthetics. Learning this resulted in quite a bit of cringing.
