Political sociology is a subfield of sociology that focuses on how power is constructed, distributed, legitimated, and transformed. Political sociology differs from political science by assuming an interdisciplinary approach features an augmented historical scope, a recognition of the significance of the intersection of political and economic power, and a greater emphasis on the relationship between individuals and society. Our main purpose in this course will be to conduct a survey of the major approaches and debates comprising the field. The lectures, class discussions, and readings are focused on examining political processes, authority, and power. You are expected to strengthen your intellectual tools and apply them to contemporary socio-political issues.
