In this Freshman Seminar, we will learn to use the bibliographic resources of UC Berkeley to document the lives, issues, achievements, and scholarship of under-represented racialized populations on Wikipedia with a special emphasis on women, queers, and transgender people of color. Students will learn about various library databases, strategies for researching marginalized and under represented populations, how to create their own research bibliographies, and how to edit Wikipedia.
Welcome to your Wikipedia assignment's course timeline. This page guides you through the steps you'll need to complete for your Wikipedia assignment, with links to training modules and your classmates' work spaces.
Your course has been assigned a Wikipedia Expert. You can reach them through the Get Help button at the top of this page.
For class: Read these Wiki.edu Resources for an overview of what we will be doing:
By this week, everyone should have a Wikipedia account. Come to class with a list of 5 Wikipedia pages that you have reviewed that you think could be updated, improved, or expanded.
This week we will focus on working with bibliographic sources and creating citations. Everyone should have a Zotero account.
An annotated bibliography is a list of sources that includes a complete citation and information about the source. For this assignment, include a list of 5 sources and 2-3 sentences about how you will use this source to improve your page(s).
Reach out to your Wikipedia Expert if you have questions using the Get Help button at the top of this page.

Everyone has begun writing their article drafts.
Every student has finished reviewing their assigned articles, making sure that every article has been reviewed.
You probably have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians. Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.
Resources:
Now that you've improved your draft based on others' feedback, it's time to move your work live - to the "mainspace."

Add another 5 citations to your annotated bibliography for a total of 10 sources that you have added to Wikipedia.
Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media.
Continue to expand and improve your work, and format your article to match Wikipedia's tone and standards. Remember to contact your Wikipedia Expert at any time if you need further help!
There is no class today, but your Wikipedia page should be complete by 11/27/2019
It's the final week to develop your article.
Everyone should have finished all of the work they'll do on Wikipedia, and be ready for grading.
