2006 – WikiProject Football's second child project
WikiProject Non-league football is created by
User:Cantthinkofagoodname . The first was
Wikipedia:WikiProject A-League which pre-dated WP:FOOTBALL, being created by

Denis Law is the first article to be de-featured.

User:Sjorford suggested that there are 65,838 articles in the 8008 categories in the
Category:Football (soccer) hierarchy on this date, this accounted for 2.89% of the 2,277,708 articles on Wikipedia as a whole. Of these, only 24,396 (37%) were tagged with {{
football }} according to the latest WP1.0 statistics.
18 March
2008 – the project passes the 25,000 article milestone.
20 March

Portal:English football becomes the project's first
featured portal .
14 September 2008 –
911 articles were selected for inclusion on
Wikipedia:Version 0.7 out of a possible 53,311 for the main project with more from subprojects and taskforces (see
