Redundant to identically named {{
CURRENTYEAR}} and {{
CURRENTMONTHABBREV}} magic words, respectively. No need for template versions as they take no parameters. --

- They date from a time where there was still no such magic templates in MediaWiki (or there were some issues). They have been in wide use (even if you may have replaced them now by the magic templates). No problem for deleting now as long as there are no longer any reference to them. At that time they were needed indirectly by various date formaters as the templates were more complex.

- I didn't have to replace these two templates anywhere, there is literally no way to use them, as the magic word will always take precedence unless you put in a bogus parameter (e.g.
{{
CURRENTYEAR|null}}
). ----

- Keep I think it's quite useful to have the documentation for users who want to learn more about the magic words. A template like this is zero maintenance and I can't really see a good reason for deletion. ‑‑

Help:Magic words provides the help. The template will just cause confusion - if it's ever altered in any way either the parser uses the template - in which case the template is needlessly adding to the overhead and deceiving editors who expect the magic word's behaviour - or the magic word - in which case the poor schmuck editing the template is wasting their time. Retaining templates which duplicate the magic words is only storing up trouble.

Redirect to {{
CURRENTYEAR}} and {{
CURRENTMONTHABBREV}} - Both templates are currently being used however that could probably be fixed with AWB, Anyway the redirect would be of help to those unaware of the MAGICWORDS. –

- @
Davey2010: Neither template is being used (see
here and
here, the single "transclusion" is an artifact of a lua module preprocessing this nomination page). Any attempt to transclude them would use the magic words instead of the template unless a bogus parameter is used (neither takes a parameter). A redirect would similarly go unused. --

- Hi
Ahecht, I'm so sorry! - I'd completely forgot not all magicwords use "__" which I thought they did, It's been a very long time since I used MAGICWORDS or even looked at that page to be perfectly honest with you so apologies for that
- Delete as per nom - Templates aren't being used and unlikely to ever be used due to brackets doing the same thing!. –
