Wikipedia:WikiProject Cutlery

Nothing terribly keepable in the discussion. All but one user is active, but nothing's happened in the project since April 2010 — no content discussion, no creation of new articles, etc. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • ( Otters want attention) 20:54, 2 March 2011 (UTC) reply

Keep A new article was just created within the past week: Al Mar Knives, and new articles are generated from time to time. Emphasis is still foccused on cleaning up existing articles.-- Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 20:59, 2 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Keep, I've mostly been doing maintenance, vandalism prevention, etc. I would not be opposed to a name-change to WikiProject Blades though, as "cutlery" seems to imply silverware, and "blades" might rope in more sword enthusiasts. MatthewVanitas ( talk) 21:24, 2 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Comment, I would support a rename to "blades" as we're not about spoons. In hindsight cutlery may not have been the best choice.-- Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 21:28, 2 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Comment, I think the term "knives" would be better than "blades". Blades is to wide open for interpretation. Knives is a word everyone knows OR "Knives, Swords and Axes". Zabanio ( talk) 22:18, 2 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Comment, noted, but again we cover the scope of swords, too.-- Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 22:24, 2 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Keep - very important and should stay. Zabanio ( talk) 22:02, 2 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Keep - There are no other wikiprojects which effectively scope the topics covered by WikiProject Cutlery, so for that reason I think it should stay. The best match would be probably be WP:WikiProject Military history/Weaponry task force; perhaps the Cutlery Wikiproject could be merged into that task force? Whatever the case, deleting/changing this WikiProject is a significant action, it would also require adjusting talk page banners. Generally as opposed to deletion, a tag should be added to the WikiProject, such as {{semi-active}} or {{inactive}}. Aeonx ( talk) 01:39, 3 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Comment - a substantial portion of the articles covered are not military knives, and in many cases are ceremonial or working knives rather than weapons, so there's nowhere near a clean WP:MILHIST crossover. MatthewVanitas ( talk) 14:38, 3 March 2011 (UTC) reply

Keep - A project that drives the documentation of the most basic tool known to man . . . Let's keep this one going, absolutely!!! Jumpcoach ( talk) 06:33, 3 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Keep-We may not be as active as some other projects, but we aren't dead. Right now I've been busy with things, and I do what editing I can (page jumping). However, a name change might be a good idea, yet it still needs to relate to different forms of "blades." This group has introduced a few new articles, we are still working on them. And guys, we still have some open votes that could use some 'voting,' ie the section split on List of blade materials. Halofanatic333 ( talk) 12:00, 3 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Keep and Rename- as per discussions above. I agree that to lose this project would be a shame, but yes, cutlery may not have been the best choice of names. - Alternativity ( talk) 13:00, 3 March 2011 (UTC) reply
