Used camera and lens show & tell (
Sony Alpha 5000 with 16-50mm lens); hopefully an acquisition for Cascadia Wikimedians that can be loaned out (plus a memory card), pending CWUG Board approval and grant funding from WMDC or WMF. Good attributes: pocketable, ease of use, performance per dollar, low cost, reasonable performance even in low light,
NFC, and Wifi. Problem: nonfunctional flash, although it may be repairable.
ConradKilroy (
talk) - My first time attending Seattle meetup, I've been to
WikiMania 2012 with my sister.
Brianhe, yes lets have a meal at Thaiger Room.
Looking forward to it, and maybe over Thai noodles, you can explain what Nathan Fillion was doing in a Kirkland tavern. Say 5:15? —

There has been a lot of talk in the Wikipedia community about producing more video. I have a friend in Seattle who is a videographer and amateur filmmaker. She is planning to attend this meetup and bring her camera. Could one of you, any of you, all of you be prepared to give a short presentation on anything Wikipedia related so that she can record you? I am floating the idea that a videographer would be useful to have at Wikipedia events, both to capture presentations by scheduled speakers and also to give any Wikipedian the opportunity to present in a video. If anyone would be willing to be recorded then I would appreciate it. Perhaps plan to speak for 3 minutes explaining any Wikipedia topic when you are in a corner of Allegro and the camera is stationary on you. In the longer term, I am hoping that there can be assistance in helping Wikipedians film video with slidesets, as
here. Thanks.

July 27, 2015 Meetup to revitalize & prioritize WikiProject Seattle, 6pm to 9pm
PraetorianFury (
talk) I can't make anything on a weekday. I'm in Olympia, it's an hour and a half away without traffic and leaving at 5 would hit the worst of it dead center...
The
Great American Wiknic is an annual wiki-picnic held in cities across the United States on or around a common day every summer. The
2015 Seattle Wiknic will be on Sunday, July 5, 2015, 12pm to 3pm, at the Washington Park Arboretum.
Board business meeting, June 26 at Starbucks in "The Lodge" portion of Bellevue Square at 6:30pm
May be at tables just upstairs from Starbucks by door to parking garage
WikiConference USA likely to be Friday 9 October - Sunday 11 October in Washington DC. Monday is Columbus Day. Travel scholarships will be available. Cascadia Wikipedians are invited to participate.
Spring 2015 UW Community Data Science Workshops - register by April 3rd!
Hi Cascadians! There will be another set of Community Data Science Workshops at UW starting on April 10th.
Details here. Apply by April 3rd for best consideration. The series consists of one Friday evening and three saturday sessions. It is free and open to the public, and lunch is included! You don't need to know anything about programming or data science to participate. If you do already know a little Python, please consider registering as a mentor—these workshops require a lot of individual mentorship to work, and it's a lot of fun (and you might still learn something!). Ping me if you have any questions. Also: could someone post this annoucement to Cascadia.wiki? I don't have an account there yet. Cheers, - J-MoTalk to MeEmail Me21:47, 25 March 2015 (UTC)reply
Trying a new thing ... there will be an Eastside meeting on March 24 at the Bellevue KCLS Library, room 4, 6 to 9 PM. If we get decent attendance we make this an ongoing thing and try to make it between the regular Seattle meetups.
Oh, bummer - I had wanted, after many years, to attend a meetup again, and when I just checked it out, I was so happy to see it's on the Eastside, and at a time that would be very convenient for me - but just that day I have an extraordinary commitment. —

Founding board members with voting responsibilities: AnotherBeliever, Brianhe, Peaceray, Pine, Mako, and Ragesoss.
Goals, budget and calendar. We can submit supplemental budget requests in May or later. We can also submit requests to WMDC for smaller items.
Strategic goalscomplete
2015 calendar of projects and events
Added development of award scoring to the tasks for the Program Committee
2015 goals
Changes to align with WMF Global Metrics
2015 expenditures (almost complete)
Added budget line with $0 for dependent care expenses at events. We can take funds from the reserve and/or request supplemental funds if we decide to sponsor events where dependent care will be provided. We currently have no firm plans to do so, which is why the budget is currently $0.
Added $30 fee from Secretary of State for nonprofit corporation registration. This appears to be separate from and addition to the Department of Revenue business license cost.
Added Google Apps subscription fees. Once we become eligible for Google for Nonprofits, the apps subscriptions will be free.
2015 income, may be adjusted if WMDC approves a grant request
Feminism+Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, Saturday, Feb. 14 from 9:30am - 1:30pm in UW Research Commons, details at www.ilovetoyouedit.wordpress.com
To discuss: A facilitator to come from Washington DC User Group to conduct an edit-a-thon training on the evening of Feb. 13 and/or to schedule a facilitator to come later in the spring.
To accommodate board members who are away from Seattle on that date, Mako has graciously agreed to provide us with access to the Internet via UW so that we can video conference.
For non-board members: there won't be confidential business at this meeting, so everyone is welcome to attend. Although only Board votes will be counted, your good-faith comments and questions are welcome.
If any board members cannot make that date and time, please let us know. Google Hangout available so that people can attend remotely. If you plan to attend via phone or Google Hangout, please let us know
here.

Are these Seattle meetup pages archived? If not, they probably should, especially if they are related to the Cascadia user group. I know we will discuss the website this evening, but I wonder if we might also want to have a designated page here at English Wikipedia for Cascadia-related notes, meetups, activities, etc. Of course, already have the Meta-Wiki page, so that may be overkill. I imagine most of our activities will take place here, though. ---
