Where is the issue taking place?
List of metropolitan areas by population, Talk:List of metropolitan areas by population
Who's involved?
Snickerdo, Polaron
What's going on?
I am requesting assistance on coming to a common ground on what defines a metropolitan area, and whether Statistics Canada's new recognition of the Greater Golden Horseshoe as a single metro area (similar to an MSA) qualifies moving Toronto up on the page, or whether we continue to use the existing listing prior to StatCan's new definition. The Three Revert Rule is already in affect, so I am bringing it to the Cabal in the hopes of coming to a solution without violating wikipedia policies.
What would you like to change about that?
I would like to see the new definition used as this is very much appears to be the Canadian version of an MSA, while Polaron disagrees with me. I have no issue with the new definition not being used -if- the American cities are held to the same standard as the Canadian cities, in other words, the playing field should be a level one on the listing, not merely opinion from one user on what data can and cannot be used.
Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
Not at all, your involvement appears to be welcomed by all involved.

Mediator response

Hello, I will be glad to be your mediator. First off, is everyone ok with me as your mediator? Secondly would you guys prefer talk here, or talk on the article talk page? From what I see this is a dispute as to what meterstick we should use to measure the size of cities. The issue here seems to about whether or not the GTA or the MSA should be used. I ask that you guys confirm that I have a good handle on what the issue is, so I may more effectively help you guys solve it. The only other thing that I ask is that we focus on the facts, and that we all keep an open mind, there may be more then one way to skin a cat. ;) —— Eagle101 Need help? 06:00, 17 March 2007 (UTC) reply
