TBrandley ( talk · contribs · count) Hi everyone! I would just like to know how I have been doing lately, since my first editor review, and if I am improving my editing skills further. Thanks. TBr and ley 00:34, 14 November 2012 (UTC) reply

Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
My primary contributions are to television articles, specifically Awake, but I do often help out at WP:GAN, WP:FAC, and WP:FLC, nominating and reviewing. I have lately been working a lot with WP:AFD, WP:NPP, WP:RCP, WP:VANDAL, WP:RFA, among a number of other tasks on Wikipedia as well.
  2. Have you been in editing disputes or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? If you have never been in an editing dispute, explain how you would respond to one.
Honestly, I used to handle things. I then maintained disruptive editing, sadly. But that's my past, and I feel I am improving, and am sorry about that immature past. Regardless, I like to follow WP:BRD, and talk about it with other involved edits, along with WP:CONSENSUS.

  • You're a good editor, but I think you get ahead of yourself. Based on your talk page, you are not yet experienced/trusted enough to perform NACs. A problem with your NACs is that sometimes you don't provide a reason; only admins get that privilege. I recommend finishing your adoption program before doing anything like that. Further, is English your first language? Almost any sentence you compose has obvious grammatical errors (ie. above, you wrote "I used to handled things" – the proper phrasing is "I used to handle things"). You will most likely be more respected on Wikipedia if your sentences are grammatically correct. Also, is it true that you would like to be an admin? Realistically, there's not a snowball's chance of that happening, unfortunately. Your extensive block history will most likely hinder people from supporting you, no matter how far into the future your RFA is. By the way, the fact that you display a userbox and icon for being autoconfirmed, in addition to a mention about it in your summary, is a bit much. Autoconfirmed means that you have been on WP for 4 days and have made 10 edits; it's not worth boasting about. To reiterate, I think you should focus on your adoption program, improving your English, and getting rid of the autoconfirmed mentions on your user page. Sorry if this sounds harsh, it's just that I genuinely believe you can become a very respected editor in due time, if you focus enough. I'm interested in your reply to this, so please respond below. • On the positive side, however, your content contributions are simply excellent! TRLIJC19 ( talkcontribs) 01:51, 14 November 2012 (UTC) reply
    • OK, I do agree that I get ahead of myself and will work on that, I usually just dive in right away, but need to work upon that, it's just enjoyment, I suppose. In regards to non-admin closures, I do think I rush it, or just automatically assume that others already know my own rationale without writing so, and, I think that still obvious premature are okay for me to close; for example, nominations that should be nominated at categories for discussion, rather than at articles for deletion, but I guess you are mostly correct on that. And, yes, my first language is actually English, I just, as said by the admin who granted me reviewer rights said, rush things through without copy-editing, and just "save" the page right after I finish writing without double looking. But yes I am a young English kid, with may have something to do with it as well. Either way, I shall also work on that; sorry about my bad grammar and writing, is it better on this message? Yes, I would like to be one, though, as you said, I doubt that will ever happen, though I still do want to be, and am entitled to state so if I'd like. I'll have to get passed that, unfortunately. I removed the autoconfirmed topicon, userbox, and text regarding it, as it is a "bit much" apparently. Anyways, I have been looking to remove a userbox to avoid my now resolved whitespace on my own user page. I am focusing on adaptation, and Ryan Vesey ( talk · contribs) is really helping me become a better editor, and that's much appreciated. A bit harsh, I believe, but it's only constructive criticism so it's fine. Thanks for your comments and feedback, which I will certainly work on. Glad to hear that someone likes my content contributions, those kind words feel good. Thanks again, TBr and ley 02:22, 14 November 2012 (UTC) reply
      • I think the reason you get ahead of yourself is out of excitement, which isn't a bad thing. Eventually NACs will be something you can do easily, so I recommend reviewing lots of AFDs. I understand that when you save the page before checking it, grammatical errors can occur. Yes, your grammar is considerably better in this message. As for the admin thing, I think you should still try an RFA in due time; you never know what might happen and it's good experience either way. I think the only reason to boast autoconfirmed status is if you have nothing else to be proud of, but you have numerous FAs, GAs, and user rights; anyone would be impressed with just that and you don't need to show off newbie user rights. :-) Sorry again about the harshness; I wanted to be blunt because you are an excellent editor with huge potential to grow. • Well, I don't have time for a very thorough review at the moment, but I will say this: From what I have seen of you, you're going in the right direction. Apparently you've had some maturity issues in the past, but I think you have left that behind you and become a very helpful member of this community. You still have room for improvement, but you are on the right track! AutomaticStrikeout ( TC) 05:30, 8 December 2012 (UTC) reply
  • As I explained here, I'm concerned about the quality of your reviews at FAC and FLC. It might be a good idea to slow down at FAC and FLC, hold off on entering Supports until you see what other reviewers have to say, and to spend a good deal of time re-reviewing all of the FACs you have supported recently to see what other reviewers have said following your Supports. Pre-mature supports cause a backlog at FAC, and that has a detrimental effect on everything/everyone: reviewers, writers, the FAC backlog, and article quality. You seem to have a lot of enthusiasm and a strong drive to work, so I hope you'll apply that to observing some reviews from some old-hands at FAC, and hold off on entering premature supports. I've also noted that you don't respond well to constructive feedback, and your understanding of WP:CIVIL doesn't seem accurate. [1] Regards, SandyGeorgia ( Talk) 05:33, 17 December 2012 (UTC) reply
