FaerieInGrey ( talk · contribs) I've just returned from a lengthy Wikibreak and would like to reflect on my work as an editor (and vandalism-reverter, which is my major task on Wikipedia) and come away with suggestions on how to improve. FaerieInGrey ( talk) 13:46, 18 January 2009 (UTC) reply

  • It is quite important you don't let vandals' comments upset you! They're just trolls. I would suggest you do lots more translations, as it is particularly useful. If you're fluent in French, I would translate en=>fr too! If not, stick to fr=>en! You may wish to do more project space edits too; try AfD etc. Computerjoe 's talk 23:08, 23 February 2009 (UTC) reply

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
In a way, the thing that I'm most pleased with is my collective vandalism reversions. I've put a pretty immense amount of time and effort into it and get a great sense of satisfaction from doing it. Very differently than that, my first translation project was of Jacques Félix Emmanuel Hamelin from the French Wiki to the English. [1] is the diff where I added my translation. I am still extremely proud of this project. It was one of my first Wikipedia contributions, and I had been bold and drove in to the translation requests area, producing a useful entry. 2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Doing vandalism reversion, I've had vandalism done to my userpage and talk page, as I know is a common experience for others reverting vandalism. I used to have more personal information on my page as well as a picture of myself. Some of the comments made by the vandals managed to upset and anger me. My method of dealing with that stress and displeasure was by removing the picture and personal information from my page, so that in the certain future events of vandalism I will not feel as personally attacked. I'm also making attempts to not take vandalism personally. FaerieInGrey ( talk) 13:48, 18 January 2009 (UTC) reply
