Nominator's rationale: Only one category in here, which isn't helpful for navigation. The only category is a language advocacy organization.

Keep. This simply needs to be populated. It is
obviously not the case that this can sensibly only have one entry in it. I just didn't personally do the work to find more for it. —

It's not helpful for navigation. The criteria you're alluding to, that it has potential for growth, isn't a reason to keep a category.

Delete. I am skeptical on the interest of Polynesian categories vs. Oceanian ones, unless an obvious exception is necessary. They usually end up in an uncontrolled mixture of ethnicity and geography. If this is about ethnicity, there should probably be an article about Polynesian sculpture, and
Category:Sculptors from Hawaii should probably not be in it as ethnic Polynesian Native Hawaiians are a minority in Hawaii. If it is about geography, it should be called Oceanian sculptors.

Merge per nom. Personally I agree with renaming the subcategories too, but I have noted that this is controversial with establishments (see e.g. recent discussion about pre-18th-century establishments in the United Kingdom).

Nominator's rationale: Ok, now the merger has been carried out, I want to bring up deletion. I don't think this category of "Anarchists from Austria-Hungary" is a remotely
defining characteristic for any of its entries, nor do I think it can be one. To go through the list:
Luisa Landová-Štychová and
Michael Kácha were Czech anarchists, involved in specifically Czech organisations both before and after the collapse of Austria-Hungary;
Josef Peukert was from the German-speaking area of Bohemia and left Austria-Hungary to work in Germany at a young age, going on to spend the rest of his life in Britain and the United States;
Hippolyte Havel probably comes the closest to having "anarchist from Austria-Hungary" as a defining characteristic, but even he spent most of his life and activist career in the United States, which he's far more known for than his origins.
To conclude, I don't think being an "anarchist from Austria-Hungary" is a remotely defining enough characteristic to constitute its own category. Each of its entries are already better categorised into different categories, whether "Czech anarchists", "Austrian anarchists" or "American anarchists". Unless I'm missing some pan-Austro-Hungarian anarchist movement that existed across national lines, I don't see any reason why this category shouldn't be deleted.

Comment Particularly on the question of the first two people mentioned, I guess this comes down to the fundamental question about whether categories with titles like "Czech anarchists" are defined by nationality or ethnicity. (I assume) Landová-Štychová and Kácha were ethnically Czech, but were never Czech citizens as the country didn't exist as an independent entity until the 1990s. Personally I would err on the side of defining membership of such categories as being based on nationality due to the potential for endless disputes about ethnicity (which means Landová-Štychová and Kácha should be categorised as Anarchists from Austria-Hungary and Anarchists from Czechoslovakia). Therefore leaning oppose, but this probably needs a much bigger discussion.
Number5711:54, 26 January 2024 (UTC)reply
Leaning towards opposition. I don't think it is appropriate to push forward ethnicity rather than nationality, especially for anarchists. I added a few other members, including
Ervin Szabó for instance.

Oppose, while people may be categorized by ethnicity, that doesn't exclude them from categorizing by nationality. I am ok with moving people from Austro-Hungarian nationality to American nationality if the US is the country where they mainly were active as an anarchist. But that does not fundamentally change the need for
Category:Anarchists from Austria-Hungary to exist.

Nominator's rationale: merge for now, only 1-3 logos in each of these categories which is not helpful for navigation. No objection to recreate any of these categories when some more logos are available.

Nominator's rationale:split, Turkey did not exist yet and it is odd to combine Roman roads in the Balkan with Roman roads in Asia Minor in one category just because Istanbul is nowadays part of Turkey.

Nominator's rationale: Would appear to violate
WP:OCEGRS. Either parent category is defining but gender does not appear to be relevant in this intersection, nor is it necessary to split an overlarge category. If it is relevant, it would need evidence that it would support its own separate article. (In this case "split" means dual merge).

Oppose. Intersection between gender and child soldiers is defining, as evident from the existence of a large body of literature specifically about female child soldiers, or with entire chapters dedicated specifically to female child soldiers, or which otherwise clearly treat female child soldiers as a defining intersectional category distinct from merely the overlap of child soldiers and female soldiers. Nominator's rationale:WP:NARROWCAT. All contain just one entry. I plan on some subsequent nominations to this tree, but I did not want to overload a single nomination. This tree and its parent need some massive cleanup. Side note (uninvolved in this nomination): what is cultural infrastructure? There is not even a
Category:Cultural infrastructure. Seems like a very subjective intersection. –

Not opposing the the nomination but Googling brings up many results for "cultural infrastructure". Not sure it's needed in category names though.
