Nominator's rationale:Delete. An intersection of profession (composer, for which the members are typically notable for) and side-pursuit (for which they are not). We don't otherwise categorize people by intersection of profession and what they happened to otherwise study or be interested in. We even usually delete categories that categorize people by the intersection of two professions, as in
actor–singers, and this doesn't even go so far as to suggest these are "composer–lawyers"—they are not notable for being composers and separately notable for also being lawyers.

Rename to
Category:Association football hooliganism. article pages go by
WP:Common name but category pages do not, where there needs to be explicitedness. (Speculating that some users may not knowing the more formal name of 'football' is not a matter of concern for WP catting - it s one for those particular users to invest three seconds into.)

comment leaning to keep. Empires are tricky, especially when they melt down. They don't fit into the simple schemes of modern nation-states.
Muhammad Ali of Egypt ruled his part of the Greater Ottoman Empire with such a degree of independence that any "Ottoman categorization", although technically correct, may mislead the unsuspecting reader into believing that he was, indeed, "a man of the Empire". "Ottoman people" seems particularly deceptive. In my opinion it should be limited to
Ottoman Turks and exclude the Egyptians, Syrians, Slavs, Armenians etc. Hell, the Empire employed many thoroughbred Englishmen. Does Sir
Adolphus Slade, Admiral of the Ottoman Empire, belong to "Ottoman people"?

Keep per NVO. "Ottoman Jews" should not be in "Turkic peoples", and so on. The Ottoman empire, unlike some, recognised that its peoples had many nationalities as well as ethnicities - see
Millet (Ottoman Empire). A reverse merge would make more sense - there are only 4 people in the main "Ottoman people" cat, of whom
Ruhi Khalidi is a 19th century pro-Turkish Palestinian Arab who should not be there, and the others are much older. The set-up here seems no different from
Category:People of the Mongol Empire, containing loads of Han Chinese in sub-cats.

Keep. Based upon current usage, "Ottoman people" comprises Ottoman Turks or in one case an Ottoman Kurdish administrator. "People of the Ottoman Empire" is a much wider category. However, once this issue is settled, is will be necessary to review the articles placed in the "People of the Ottoman Empire" cat and, where possible, to allocate them to a more specific category.

Nominator's rationale: "Leaders" is not a good basis for categorization (note that
Category:Leaders is a redlink), since anyone from a low-level management employee at a small firm to a head of state is a "leader". My guess, based on a review of the category's content, is that this category is intended primarily for activists and politicians: 38 of the 49 articles in this category are in
Category:American politicians and
Category:American activists or their subcategories. I am proposing an upmerge because deletion would remove 31 of the 49 articles from the American people of Mexican descent tree. (Category creator notified using

Comment Wont this rename proposal just open the door for having "Cat:Cities in _blank_" "Cat:Towns in _blank_" and "Cat:Villages in _blank_" all over again? As I recalled, they were merged into that one catch-all so that the likelihood of having separate cats for cities, towns and also villages don't balloon out of control. Secondly "places" seems to me like anything could go in there. For example: An article about a city block, town square or even Marina resort could go in "places", no?

Nominator's rationale:Delete. These performers are well covered in the article and the year in which they were an entrant is not notable for most if not all of these. If this passes, then a mass nomination for the remaining categories will need to made. Note well that some of the members here are listed in multiple related categories adding to category clutter on the article pages.

Comment - delete makes the extra claim that being a Eurovision Song Contest entrant is not defining, which I would dispute as it is an annual hullabaloo which goes on for months. Upmerge to
Category:Eurovision Song Contest entrants makes the claim that year is not defining, but produces an enormous category. [see below] It is not usual to appear more than say twice in Eurovision, so clutter is not unbounded ...
Category:Eurovision Song Contest entrants by nationality would be another way to go, but not incompatible with 'by year'. (
Elena Paparizou is in 2 of these.) My own view is that 'Eurovision Song Contest entrant' is defining and subcatting by year is a sensible scheme.

Nominator's rationale: The current name of this category sounds a little...odd. (And not just because it's missing "the"). And there's only three entries. Now, in some scenarios, three entries makes a category; in others, one can justify a category (in certain trees, anyway). In this one, however, I think we have a case of
WP:OC, and these three articles would be better served in the parent category. -

Keep seperate but rename. I can see that Isotope separation facilities of Manhattan Project is a subcat of Isotope separation facilities, but would prefer seperate subcats for all facilities/plants etc in Tennessee & Washington State ie Clinton Engineer Works (CEW) and Hanford Engineer Works (HEW). Nominator's rationale: The parent
Category:United States housing bubble refers only the 2000s bubble. Having a variant "Terms and concepts of the ..." subcategory is either redundant, or stretching the category system too far. While many of the articles in this category are specific to the US bubble, several are more general (e.g.
Mortgage loan,
London Interbank Offered Rate,
Moral hazard and, until I removed it just now,
Recession). If people feel we need a glossary for the bubble, the category could be turned into a list, but my preference would be to upmerge then root out the superfluous bits. --
