Unless I misunderstand, there is not consensus to remove these images. There seems to be consensus that a new system should be come up with, but I don't think you can justify mass removing all the image links based on what I have read at the links you provided. I believe there was also a more recent discussion as well (I remember because I participated in it) that also led to no consensus or consensus against removing them. They might be considered deprecated but deprecated does not mean removed as fast as possible. Mr. Z-man 17:22, 5 December 2008 (UTC) reply
