Comment I am starting to think about some of the subtopics that could be included... songs about natural disasters could be one, songs about environmental disasters could be another, and so on. --

Keep. List of songs on a subject which is not too broad, nor too trivial. I think most people will interpret "disaster" as "major fatal catastrophe" and not a wrecked love relationship.

Categorize Lists should be used instead of categories only if there is a definable set of members that can reasonably be expected to have every member listed. This list is by its nature uncompletable, so a category, with appropriate subcategories is the way to go.
