Orphaned non-free image File:Schermafbeelding 2010-10-27 om 17.49.17.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Schermafbeelding 2010-10-27 om 17.49.17.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:33, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Office2011 logo.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Office2011 logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:09, 20 January 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hugahoody ( talk) 23:09, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Safari dev version

Hi, please take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_web_browsers#Release_history ... you will see that your Safari Dev entry doesn't match the style of all the other entries, like the bold text, or the alignment. Please make it so that it looks consistent on this page too.

Also, I am not aware that any public 5.0.6 Dev builds exist. Can you provide a reference, maybe a link to a download page?

Thanks, -- DeTru711 ( talk) 21:02, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Re: I can't publish a download link because of the Apple EULA, but if you become a (free) member of the Safari Dev Center you get the following frontpage: [1] and zooming in on the download section: [2]. And, so far as I know, no other web browser has multiple beta versions/dev previews.

For Firefox there are 3 dev channels (beta, aurora, central), of which only beta releases usually get listed as dev versions on the related Wikipedia pages, but aurora and central aren't (both are nightly builds and not real releases). For Chrome there are also 3 dev channels (beta, dev, canary), of which beta and dev are listed, but canary is not. So these are somewhat comparable.

To some degree it's arguable which of these are worthy of being included in the dev lists, but minor ones tend to be not. My feeling is that listing Safari 5.1 only should be good enough.

Safari 5.0.6 looks to me as if it was similar to Firefox's candidate builds of upcoming versions (which also never get listed in the Firefox's dev version section). Before a new Firefox version is released, the builds are always available on the FTP servers in advance. But that doesn't make them a release, even though they are fully available to everyone who wants to download them. -- DeTru711 ( talk) 21:51, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

I don't totally understand your last paragraph, but 5.0.6 is definitely a separate preview release, if that's what you mean. It's released together with 5.1 for SL and Windows and is the stripped version of that for the Leopard OS (OS X 10.5), but definitely a (preview) release.

Thank you for uploading File:Microsoft Office 2011 wordmark.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. A tag has been placed on File:Microsoft Office 2011 wordmark.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [3], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 12:41, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
