for such careful attention to the sources in reviewing DYK nominations, specifically in regard to Ved Vejen. With gratitude. -- Ipigott ( talk) 18:55, 2 February 2013 (UTC) |
Glad we sorted out Ved Vejen. I finally found out how to comment on the nomination (as you will see from my support for your excellent ALT3). I kept getting this when I clicked on [edit] and then discovered there is an additional possibility under "( Review or comment • Article history )" which worked! Perhaps as you have worked in Denmark, your Danish is good enough for you to be able to read the original text of Ved Vejen. It's more like a long short story than a novel. Lots of short paragraphs, conversation and gripping sequences, some quite sensual. You can find the Danish text here or here. Unfortunately the English translation (Katinka translated by Tiina Nunnally) does not appear to be available online. -- Ipigott ( talk) 09:48, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
I am negotiating a couple of Springsteen-related photos; mainly for Nils Lofgren and Clarence Clemons (Clarence has a lot of photos but most IMHO are dreadful). I wondered if you would like to add this to the 2008 tour page, taken in Ontario: [1]? Obviously, it would require a rationale, etc., but I have seen such on other articles. -- Leahtwosaints ( talk) 11:01, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
See, this is the reason I totally dislike uploading anything requiring a justification notice!! See my talk page about the album cover for Alun Davies' only solo album, and the only clear shot we have of how he looks! In addition I see musician-biography albums scattered all over some articles, as with Motorhead and the like! Davies could have pursued a career of his own, and yet, instead, chose to continue only with Cat Stevens. (I always wondered if I could submit that fact for the DYK? display but I'm too afraid to try new things like that.) As a matter of fact, the same was true of starting an article, and I believe you are aware of each of those few, including that of Davies. You, and initially, User:Tvoz were the only other two that significantly had anything to do with the article, so I'm really worried here. I'm the photo fairy, yet after supplying over 2,000 free use images, can not find one of Davies at all, thus having to rely on what is there- the photo cover of Daydo and the also non-free strip of Sweet Thursday members from the old Cat Stevens fan site, which he now controls. Here is what was sent to me:
*A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Daydo.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. a new message at Talk:Bono's talk page.
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Morleigh Steinberg, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sundance Channel ( check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. As per Wikipedia:LINKSTYLE:
Items within quotations should not generally be linked; instead, consider placing the relevant links in the surrounding text or in the "See also" section of the article.
I stand by my edit of Tony_Bennett#1995–present: No retirement "If you study the masters – Picasso, Jack Benny, Fred Astaire – right up to the day they died, they were performing. If you are creative, you get busier as you get older." as the wikilinks provide links to the relevant articles where Bennett's assertion can be verified by the interested reader. Such verification is outside the scope of Bennett's article so such links would not be available outside the quote. What LINKSTYLE recommends is thus not really relevant in this case. What say you? Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hillary Rodham Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Westinghouse and Lockheed ( check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Someone added a line in the article stating that Adam got married yesterday. Can you find a reference for it, if not... how can anyone knows that to put it in his article?? Miss Bono [zootalk] 16:02, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Would you consider participating here? You have made great contributions to U2 related article, mainly Ali's. Thanks.

I think these are sensible guidelines:
Per WP:Leadlink: "In technical articles that use uncommon terms, a higher-than-usual link density in the lead section may be necessary. In such cases, try to provide an informal explanation in the lead, avoiding using too many technical terms until later in the article...."
Per WP:MOSINTRO: "Where uncommon terms are essential, they should be placed in context, linked and briefly defined."
So, thanks for including an explanation of smart power in the lead, though you really went overboard:
She viewed "smart power" as the strategy for asserting U.S. leadership and values, by combining military strength with American capabilities in economics, aid, technology, creativity, and human rights advocacy.
Maybe we should also include how she loves rainbows and lollipops, and favors fresh air and music. :-) Anythingyouwant ( talk) 00:25, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Your comment about the Condi article prompts me to ask this: to what extent do you think Wikipedia is used as a propaganda tool, and what can or should be done about it? My own view is that much could be done, but will not be done, because the problems are largely systemic and by design. Anythingyouwant ( talk) 00:15, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
I understand we have a difference of opinion. In the interest of progress, please pass or fail this GA nomination. Chris Troutman ( talk) 04:58, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Hello Wasted Time,
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:AlistairMacLean.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Blurred Lines 15:16, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

As long as McCain has publicly acknowledged his religious affiliation he should be in that category. We have agreed that where someone received their education, even their high school education, is defining to them. On the awards categories, I would say all the non-US ones should be scrpaped as not defining to him at all. Categories like Jeopardy contesteants are really supposed to be for people notable for that. It would probably be best to discuss much of this at the McCain talk page. Hello, I nominated 4 (Beyoncé Knowles album) for FA status last month and although it seems to be comprehensive enough, there are some minor prose errors that I'm terrible at spotting and would like to iron out. I remembered you were quite strong at copy-editing from the Lauryn Hill GA candidacy and was wondering whether you could take a look at the article? Of course, if you're busy on here or in RL or not interested in the subject matter then there's no pressure to do so! Regards. — JennKR | ☎ 18:37, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Just a comment from a passer-by. Just trying to be helpful.
In reference to [3]. I agree with Cwobell in that the information about "lost to Barack Obama" should be kept, it keeps the historical context. It's also strange to mention the nomination, but not what happened with the nomination.
However, the "but" could sound to some people as "ha, ha, he lost". It could be rewritten so that:
