Thanks for reaching out to me on my talk page. I reread your edit and the phrasing of "fails" in your intermediate edits confused me - I thought it was something else (i.e. "fails" as in mocking). Regardless of my confusion, you are absolutely right in that it was not vandalism. My apologies for my mistake.
I was going to restore your edit, but the phrasing of "Northerners also disliked this, creating more fails to pass legislation" seems very strange, particularly "fails." It's unclear to me if the Northerners there disliked the railroads wanting to establish operations, the legislation that failed, or the way that the legislation failed. I'm wracking my brain trying to rephrase this, but I'm not coming up with anything.
If you wish to redo your edit or rephrase your change, I will assume
good faith and not stop you. Also, if you want to run by any ideas on how the change should read, I'm more than willing to work with you on it.
In any case, my apologies again for my mistake. I hope it has not discouraged you form editing. You were very polite in the way you raised the issue with me and I appreciate it. Thanks for that and thanks for taking the time to contribute your ideas to Wikipedia!
Thanks for getting back to me on my talk page! We don't really have a "friend" mechanism on Wikipedia, but you're welcome to to ask me any questions about how things work here or about Wikipedia itself on my talk page any time.
