I don't believe that the board is currently open to a vote, I believe that they do this from time to time as a group rather than constintly like we do for admins. I doubt that there are any restrictions on who can vote. That said I really don't know to much about wikimedia outside of wikipedia. Sorry, if this doesn't quite answer your questions -- T- rex 20:35, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
I've fixed a minor error on your user page if this was a mistake I apologize feel free to delete this message. -- Leon 02:48, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, Leon. I still have a very underdeveloped user page. I was not focused on creating one, but I ended up making one so my user name could be clicked on, like other usernames.
Thank you for nominating me for adminship. However, I do not believe that I have participated enough in Wikipedia to be considered for adminship at this time. I must decline, but thanks for the nomination again. JONJONAUG 02:06, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I think if it to interests you, you can one day have enough paricipation in Wikipedia to become an administrator. I still note from now and until notice from you that you currently decline adminship, and everyone is welcome to decline become an administrator. Adminship is not compulsory.

Sorry for takeing so long to get back to you, but I wanted to have a chance to think it over. First, thank you for nominating me to be and admin on wikipedia. Although I am willing to help wikipedia in this regard, for now I think it is best to decline. The process for gaining adminship is a complex and serious matter that I currently lack the time to put myself through. However, if come early March you still feel as if I am well qualified I would be more likly to accept a nomination at that time. Still, thanks, as even the offer to nominate me is an honour. -- T- rex 00:05, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I deleted the talk page for you. I think you are right not to link to youtube as it is probably a video that would violate youtube's own copyright policy, and therefore ours. Tim! 07:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Tim. Always important to know and obey the copyright laws, and now nor you, me nor Wikimedia will suffer the legal penalty for this situation.
Thank you for your support in my recent RfA. I think valid criticisms were raised in areas that I need to work on, so I've withdrawn my name. I intend to work on addressing the concerns that were raised, and think I need to work contributing without allowing myself to become as stressed as I have been at times, which did result in some inappropriate behavior. Perhaps I may re-explore adminship at some point in the future, but it's a little early to consider that. Again, thank you. Fan-1967 21:43, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
Sometimes when you are not sure whether it's the right thing or not to do on wikipedia, it's allowed to go ahead and just try it. (see WP:BOLD). Normally there is no problem linking to other websites, it's only a copyright problem if you copy text from there onto wikipedia. The specific guideline for links is at Wikipedia:External links. Tim! 09:49, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for watching out for the Bill Gates page. It looks like its only been a day or so since the unprotection, so I'm not sure I'll re-protect it right now, but I will watch it and see if it needs it again after a few days. When I originally protected it, it was after about a full history page of vandalism (25+ vandalisms) in one day. For the record, you can go to WP:RFPP to formally request protection for pages. Thanks again! -- Renesis ( talk) 17:39, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
You're quite welcome. With your eye on Bill Gates now, I'm sure you can keep things in control now.-- Wikipedier 18:52, 4 February 2007 (UTC) (talk)

Hi Wikipedier. Just dropping by to thank you for the Barnstar! :-) It wasn't showing on the page because my award section is formatted as an image gallery, but you wrote in the standard template for awards. I guess the two cancelled each other out, and the award wasn't showing at all. I've fixed the code, and now it is up there. Again, thank you so much for the Barnstar. Yes, board members are elected by users, although there are (light) restrictions on who can vote. There are elections every year, and you can read more here. Prodego talk 02:24, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
I currently am not involved in any project, so for now, I won't be able to vote for the board, but I'll still be able have many other benifits from being a normal user of Wikipedia.-- Wikipedier 03:11, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Hold the phone. Does being just a registered user on Wikipedia count as being involved in a project, and if I have at least 400 edits and it's 90 days old, would that qualify me altother to vote?-- Wikipedier ( talk • contribs) 22:23, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
That was very flattering. I appreciate the thought, but I'm going to have to decline the nomination. Based on the RfA discussions that I've reviewed, I'm certain that I would not be confirmed. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 04:08, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks very much for the offer. I was actually contacted by another use via email a few days ago asking if I would accept a nomination. My concern is that my participation in deletion discussions is quite limited. It is an area of Wikipedia that is of no interest to me, and I only participate when I stumble across a nominated article/category/misc. I've seen too many good users massacred at RfA for this reason, and must decline a nomination at this time. I will most likely submit to an editor review in the coming weeks, and would appreciate any feedback you can provide. Again, thanks very much for the offer. auburnpilot talk 16:09, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

You are quite right that often the easiest way to see if someone is an admin is to look at their personal logs, but using the Special:logs/rights is the better way to catch new admins, and Special:Listusers is a better way to confirm that they currently still have the tools. Thanks for updating the list, every few weeks I go and check for all the changes that have fallen through the cracks. Cheers, NoSeptember 20:37, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedier, please don't take any offense at my comments on Xiahou's page. I was interested in defending him, not in attacking you. I agree that it's a very bad thing to bite newbies, and we should doubly give them the benefit of the doubt, but I've seen things from "new" posters that go way beyond any possible newbie mistakes. I don't think that reacting to rude posts with some vigor is a bad thing, but there is another side to the issue. I think I'm right, but reasoned argument from someone believing differently is fine. Please accept my apology if I seemed a bit too harsh. Nice to talk to you. Catbar 00:55, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

We usually delete user and talk pages of indefinately blocked editors (such as User talk:DELTA922), especially when there's been nothing on them besides warning and block notices. Well, I do think making shorter blocks would be a good idea. 24 hours, as opposed to one month, at least for a first offense.(I would consider one or more months more rationale for shared IPs, that have already been blocked before for persitant vandalism, and that appear to only be used for vandalism.)-- U.S.A. cubed 20:51, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

It seems that this comment of yours confused the RfA bots. The problem is that you don't link to your user or talk page in your sig, but you linked to User:Majorly in your comment. I saw that you nominated a candidate for bureaucratship. However, I think you inadvertently used the RfA template instead of the RfB template, so the questions to the candidate and some other things aren't the ones we usually use for an RfB. You might want to re-do the nomination before the candidate decides whether to accept it. Regards, Newyorkbrad 20:37, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for doing the unsigned business, first. As for severity, yeah, I don't know. It's a whole school's IP as opposed to a single person and it rarely produces useful edits. Yes, I actually am a pilot. I earned my private pilot certificate back in the summer of 2006 and have since earned my instrument rating as well. I'm currently working on my commercial rating as an Aviation major at Auburn University and plan to work professionally as a pilot. As far as accidents are concerned, the thought never really makes me nervous. While flying, I know I'm in control of the plane and am confident in my training. It's when I'm on the ground and have to deal with other pilots taxing around the airport that can send me into a nervous breakdown...I flew into DeKalb-Peachtree Airport recently, which I've been told has more runway incursions than any other airport, and it was chaotic enough to make me swear to never return. - auburnpilot talk 16:55, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

This RFA thanks was inspired by Phaedriel's RFA thanks. So unfortunatly this is not entirely my own design.
Yes, I made my 8000th edits a few days ago. Have you ever heard of User:DerHexer? He is so fast at reverting vandalism that he has more than 30,000 edits on English Wikipedia alone and more than 11,000 edits on just April. NHRHS2010 Talk 14:35, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for the Barnstar. 38 articles created. I actually thought I had created more than that... Must get back on horse... Thanks again for the Barnstar though, I appreciate it. :) Cheers, Redux 22:31, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry about it, I can't even remember the edit you're referring to. But hey, you appeared to enjoy contributing here, have you thought of coming back? I must admit that I'm not aware of the circumstances behind your departure, yet looking at your contributions I see you've jumped back in now and again. There's always more to do at Wikipedia, your help would be most welcome! ˉˉ anetode ╦╩ 18:01, 25 October 2007 (UTC) (Thought I'd cross-post here, since your page is no longer protected ˉˉ anetode ╦╩ 18:03, 25 October 2007 (UTC))

I'll think about it. I remember last August when User:JetLover nominated me for adminship, but users kept opposing me because all I do was vandalism fighting and not many mainspace editing other than reverting vandalism. I'll just think about it and decide. Would you mind checking my contributions for my mainspace edits? NHRHS2010 talk 03:07, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry about it - we all make mistakes, and I know your edits were made in good faith. No need to apologise. Walton One 20:19, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi U.S.A.U.S.A. Thank you for the heads up. The IP's last edit, which was exactly the one offending me, is about 3 months old though, so there is no point in doing something about that specific IP, unless it started editing again. But unless it was something massive, that was disrupting the project itself in the process, I tend to pay no attention to this kind of thing. I usually let trolls starve. If anything, this kind of childish behavior demolished the point that the individual was trying to make about the IP being shared and that the behavior that had led to its blocking would not repeart itself. S/he only confirmed why the IP needed to stay blocked. So he actually saved us the time we might have spent considering the case. Better for us, punishment enough for him. But thank you for letting me know. Cheers, Redux 02:30, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you a lot! Really! I'm really glad with my new barnstarts, and they're all for things that I really did and that I'm proud of! You deserve that Random Acts of Kindness barnstar that an user gave you (above on your talk page). A.Z. 00:20, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm still learning the admin ropes, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to hang out there if it's already been blocked. I left one username up there because it's not clear to me that it's a reference to an actual commercial entity. Dppowell 03:33, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for voting in my Rfa, which I withdrew from yesterday. Though I did not get promoted, I see this Rfa as being a success nonetheless. What I got out of this Rfa will help me to be a better, all around editor. Because of this Rfa I have decided to become better in other areas of editing. I'm not going to just be a vandalfighter. Though vandalfighting is good, being active in all areas of editing is even better. Have a nice day.-- SJP 22:30, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I have so much going on in my life right now that I don't think I would be able to give the arb com the time or attention it needs. Thanks, though. Danny 03:08, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Some do, some don't. The reason you shouldn't substitute the db templates is that if you do, the page won't get added to the proper category where an admin will see it. Jhinman 18:27, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
He's used another IP entirely before, so I assume he's got access to multiple ISPs or computer systems. Checkuser is not gonna prove anything; it's internal evidence that's gonna hang him. Could you submit him for vandalism or Admin action? I, it could be argued, am prejudiced. -- Orange Mike 01:05, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi. It is highly unlikely that I would run for one of the positions on the ArbCom. This is mainly because I am already a
Steward of the Foundation, and it is generally preferred that Stewards do not join the Arbitration Committees of any projects in which they participate and that might have an ArbCom — as it is the case here. That general feeling might one day change, but it is what was expressed by the pan-Foundation community during the last Steward election (which, coincidentally, took place at the same time as last year's ArbCom election here on en.wiki).
I take the opportunity to thank you for the heads up on the recently created "Admin school" project. I'm looking into it, and I want to give it some time so as to see if it will stick around and become something effectively used by the newly-appointed admins. If it does, I'll include it in my promotion message. Cheers,
Redux

Hi. The Barnstar of Good Humor was created by combining two pre-existing images, from two other awards: the original Barnstar (obviously) and the Wiffle Bat, which is technicaly not a Barnstar award, since it did not feature a barnstar, but it is a wiki award for maintenance work. It was never too popular, but it featured a very interesting "smiley", which we combined with the Barnstar to form the award. The original idea to combine the two, thus conveying the necessary visual message of humor (plus a Barnstar) was mine, which is why I'm credited for it. :) Until I brought this idea to the table, we had hit a standstill in the discussions for creating the award regarding what we'd use as the visual aspect of "humor" to combine with the Barnstar, and several suggestions had been rejected. Once I came up with the Wiffle Bat's "smiley", the concept of placing it in the center of the Barnstar was a natural and obvious development, which only took minutes to be done. And so the BoGH came into being. Redux ( talk) 17:12, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Sorry my man. They were not removed but archived. I didn't respond to everyone who commented, I responded just as they commented back after I decided that my departure was petty and wrong. Heck, you are very much in my "editors who I respect and made me want to return" category. No bad feeling I hope. My sincere thanks for your words. They genuinely meant a lot and were part of my decision that to give up here over one silly incident was foolish on my part and did not respect the community. Hi. Thanks for the message :). All current Stewards go through a reconfirmation, which takes place at the same time as the election. But it is not an election exactly, it is an opportunity for the community to comment on the present Stewards; and at the end, the Stewards will take those comments into advice in deciding whether or not to remain in the position (for another year). Everyone is welcome to leave comments for each and every one of the current Stewards there. As far as voting in the Steward election (the actual election, to appoint new Stewards), you qualify for voting. You have an account on Meta with a link to an account on another project (this one, en.wiki) where you have contributed for at least 3 months ( you have been here for about a year). Notice that the age of your Meta account (about a month old) is not the one taken into account, but rather the age of your en.wiki account. Redux ( talk) 13:00, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I want to sincerely thank you for your support. Unfortunately under 12 hours have passed in the election process and you are in a minority of 4 supports to 29 opposes, so my candidacy is clearly going nowhere and I have struck myself out of the election. Perhaps next time - thanks again. Stifle ( talk) 11:55, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
