Hello. Just to let you know that I wasn't the person who queried the Blacon pic - with the info given, it's fine, though you should add the the {{ GFDL}} tag to the image page so that it can be categorised properly, rather than just writing the info. I'd also advise removing your personal email from that page, as it may well attract spam. Cheers. Loganberry ( Talk) 00:50, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I've left North West England alone now, though it's rather non-standard for geographical articles to use that form, so don't be surprised if someone else changes it in due course.
However, I don't think you're taking my point about POV. The whole point about the NPOV policy is that truth alone is not enough; every fact must be both true and written in a neutral tone. I happen to think that Stirling Moss was the greatest racing driver never to be world champion, and most people would agree with me, but that does not mean that I can write it in his article as fact. Loganberry ( Talk) 00:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Why did you add an external link about Chester, UK to a page about West Chester, USA? Deizio talk 17:33, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
...because the town/city/county has 'Chester' in the name. I am born in Chester and just thought the Americans in Westchester might find it fascinating to see pictures, and read information about Roman Chester, England. If you don't agree - take it out, by all means. Twinney12 17:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
On another matter, please don't include ~~~~ in your edit summaries. It doesn't add a signature, your user name is included in the page history automatically, and signatures are generally only for posts on discussion pages. Deizio talk 18:02, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
o0o Cool Man! o0o
The Blacon article, which you appear to have been a significant contributor to, is a little out of step with several Wikipedia guidelines and policies regarding e.g. style, external links and content. I also removed from the talk page a large portion of text which appeared to be lifted from an external source, rather than a discussion about the article. I applaud your enthusiasm for the article, if you could address some of my concerns it will only improve it. The extra text in the references section is a particular "sore thumb" in the piece at the moment. Deizio talk 18:17, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree! I have removed all extra text in the ref section, leaving only the references themselves.
Give me a chance cock!! I've just done it!
For your information there is a greeting, an expression, used in London which goes "alright me ol' cock sparra" This is often shortened to 'alright cock'! To call someone 'cock' is not offensive or demeaning to them in anyway whatsoever. So for you to threaten me with some kind of retribution, as you just have, is an appalling faux pas on your behalf. I can only say to you... Calm down, Calm down son, and stop being so small minded and petty! Twinney12 12:21, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
This article has now been deleted as copyvio since it was taken from a website without demonstrating specific permission. Please be careful since Wikipedia has a zero tolerance policy on copyright violations. TerriersFan 01:33, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Mr. TerriersFan, My question refers to the above. I didn't need permission as there was a link to download the .PDF file. There are some relevant pages about Blacon on the govt's pathfinder site which can be downloaded, but cannot be viewed ON that site. To view them you have to download them. Can I upload them to the Blacon Wiki for readers to view, as I do with an image? Cheers for the edits, the site is looking well! Twinney12 12:48, 13 December 2006 (UTC) Tony
To me:..."if you continue to think that the article should not have been deleted" I don't think, and have not suggested, that the article in question should NOT have been deleted - where did you get THAT from?!!
I am arguing that copyright here is not an issue, because the government allows ANYONE, WITHOUT PERMISSION to download the pathfinder report. It is you who keep harping on about 'copyright'; I said earlier "I would of course have credited the article with a reference or footnote, but had 'parked' it on that discussion page while I was thinking how to link to it."
We have a separate page for Blacon railway station could we have a separate page for, say, 'Blacon Pathfinder Report' or is that going into too much detail?
Keep up the good work the site is looking better and more professional every day. Kind Regards,Tony Twinney12 10:15, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

I have been with wiki for some time now over (2 years), and have contributed to several pages, notably wiki Blacon. I am a serious contributor and am making serious edits to the Chester Wiki. I was born in Chester and still live in the city. The walls around the city are medieval but built on a Roman plan. The edits to the name derivation and history of Chester are fully referenced, yet someone keeps removing them and replacing them with non referenced stuff about Danes!! I am using the Chester Coat of Arms with copyright permission from Steve Howe, yet this keeps disappearing too!!. The reference underneath the Coat of arms is for the benefit of Chester City Council who appear to think that people might assume that the Chester Wiki is endorsed by Chester City Council. - Perish the thought! Hi. Whilst I and others appreciate the changes you are making to this arrticle, some have been problematic in not conforming to the style guidelines in content and presentation. Can I ask that you pause a little, allowing myself and others to sort out what has already been done a little, and, in the meantime, you might study WP:UKCITIES for a better idea of how to structure and present information here. The Coat of Arms badly placed? badly placed? The image of The Coat of Arms of Chester has been placed at the top of the page about Chester. Where else would one place it eh? The bottom, middle, to one side? - Excirial does not appear to be as concerned as you are about the Coat of Arms as he/she offered advice. About the "strange disclaimer" you mention - I suggest you contact Martin Waters at Chester City Council and tell him that HIS disclaimer is strange, for he wrote the disclaimer in an email to me, which you are free to inspect.
Excirial wrote, with reference to the Coat of Arms.: "Now about the reference: Is there any chance that you could just create a number reference without the preceding "Not endorsed" text? A disclaimer doesn't fit inside the article, so it might be better to move it to references altogether. --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 11:39, 21 November 2007 (UTC)" You wrote: Excuse me, but it was me who removed the reference to the Duke. The information was out of place in the article about Chester, but would fit in the article about the Duke. I also have changed other things around which were not in conformance with guidelines (see WP:UKCITIES.) I have also removed the coat of arms that are badly placed and, with the strange disclaimer really does not fit in. I suggest that these kinds of major changes would be better discussed prior to them being made on either Talk:Chester or the Cheshire WikiProject. I left you a note about this. Hello Twinney12,
Just a note that it may not be, or have been your intention, but your userpage could be seen as a bad-faith mimic or mockery of User:Ddstretch's userpage. It's certainly been "copied" from his userspace, which is fine in the capacity that you may like the look of it and want something simillar, but it may be more appropriate to "make it your own" and customise it towards your needs and interests to avoid any confusion.

WinHunter ( talk) 11:48, 25 November 2007 (UTC) Can we apply the same rationale used by < User:Marnanel when s/he wrote about the CheshireItalic text Crest or Coat of Arms - " I consider this fair use in the same way that reproducing a corporate logo is fair use"? "This was a project to add the arms of the towns, boroughs, cities, districts and counties of England and Wales to both the English Wikipedia and the Welsh Wicipedia (see the "other languages" link) where appropriate. All the images came from the excellent civicheraldry.co.uk [1]. I've contacted the webmaster of the site and he's happy for the pictures to be used as long as we give credit. He mentions that towns may occasionally object to the use of their civic arms on a website. (However, I consider this fair use in the same way that reproducing a corporate logo is fair use.)" I also have contacted the webmaster of civicheraldry.co.uk to ask him to add the Chester COA to his site. When he does we can then use the COA in the same manner that the CHESHIRE COA has already been used. Doesn't civicheraldry.co.uk have the same problems with copyright? Who does own the copyright to a city's COA - The city or the citizens represented by the city? and I think the 'a corporate logo is fair use' point is strongest argument to be able to use COA Tony - Twinney12 ( talk) 21:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC) Tony Swaine 20:58, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Chester & District Housing Trust requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{

the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on
the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The file File:Chester city coat of arms.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your
edit summary or on
the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the
proposed deletion process, but other
deletion processes exist. In particular, the
speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and
files for discussion allows discussion to reach
consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot ( talk) 01:00, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
