I am wondering why you removed my edits AND references from this article? And did you then nominate it for deletion or was that someone else? What's up. Doc? Einar aka Carptrash ( talk) 04:36, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me. I often wonder and sometimes even worry about these things. I was intentionally mixing my writings with the other stuff to create something that was not a copyright violation. It seems to me that the plagiarized parts of this article, from Find-a-Grave I believe, were actually lifted there from somewhere else, but since they (FaG . . .hmmmm?) do not have the sort of eye towards copyrights that we do they were not concerned. Life is good, Happy New Year, unless you are holding out for the Tibetan New Year, in which case we can discuss it then. Einar aka Carptrash ( talk) 03:39, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Welcome to the biggest WikiCup Wikipedia has yet seen! Round one will take place over two months, and finish on February 26. There is only one pool, and the top 64 will progress. The competition will be tough, as more than half of the current competitors will not make it to round 2. Details about scoring have been finalized and are explained at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. Please make sure you're familiar with the scoring rules, because any submissions made that violate these rules will be removed. Like always, the judges can be reached through the WikiCup talk pages, on their talk page, or over IRC with any issues concerning anything tied to the Cup. We will keep in contact with you via weekly newsletters; if you do not want to receive them, please remove yourself from the list here. Conversely, if a non-WikiCup participant wishes to receive the newsletters, they may add themselves to that list. Well, enough talk- get writing! Your submission's page is located here. Details on how to submit your content is located here, so be sure to check that out! Once content has been recognized, it can be added to your submissions page, from which our bot will update the main score table. Remember that only articles worked on and nominated during the competition are eligible for points. Have fun, and good luck! Garden, iMatthew, J Milburn, and The ed17 19:24, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks to everyone's efforts to the GA Sweeps process, we are currently over 90% done with only 226 articles remain to be swept! As always, I want to thank you for using your time to ensure the quality of the older GAs. With over 50 members participating in Sweeps, that averages out to about 4 articles per person! If each member reviews an article once a week this month (or several!), we'll be completely finished. At that point, awards will be handed out to reviewers. As an added incentive, if we complete over 100 articles reviewed this month, I will donate $100 to Wikipedia Forever on behalf of all GA Sweeps participants. I hope that this incentive will help to increase our motivation for completing Sweeps while supporting Wikipedia in the process. If you have any questions about reviews or Sweeps let me know and I'll be happy to get back to you. Again, thank you for taking the time to help with the process, I appreciate your efforts! --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 ( talk • contrib) 00:18, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Good luck. Try to ensure neutrality by balancing fan criticism of him with his comments saying that he ignores fan criticism, you should find one in every single interview he has given in the last 6 years. On a slightly more serious note, you may be able to use this hilarious quote from him: "Well, it's possible that we've declined. But honestly, I've been here the whole time and I do remember in season two people saying, 'It's gone downhill.' If we'd listened to that then we would have stopped after episode 13. I'm glad we didn't." (Benji Wilson (9-1-2010). "The writer".

I noticed that you are participating in the 2010 WikiCup. I have been working on the Bolognia push which is a project to make sure Wikipedia has an article (or redirect) on every know cutaneous condition. With that being said, there are still many cutaneous condition stubs to be made, and Bolognia could be a source for a lot of DYK articles, etc. Therefore, I was thinking maybe we could help one another... a competative WikiCup that also serves to improve dermatologic content on Wikipedia. Thanks for your message. Since the last issue on my creating the 9-11 Film Festival entry came up, many months ago, I've made more than 500 edits (some very minor ones on old films . ..!) without any problem or "bot attacks". I was just editing that entry when the bot entry happened. I have added the Library of Congress press release on the 2009 nominations (which include the above-named film) to the National Film Registry as a link under References.
Important note -- in both cases (this one and 9-11 Film Festival) the Wiki-bot picked up an *unauthorized use* by *another website* not related to LofC, which allows fair use in articles about the National Film Registry nominations. (And the bot jumped in within seconds, before I was finished with the first edit.) Thanks again for reading this. Tjmayerinsf ( talk) 21:32, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm very glad, and somewhat relieved, that you enjoyed it! The reaction at the screening I attended was somewhat mixed, I think because many in the American audience didn't have an appreciation for Nordic culture and so couldn't relate to the humor. (On the other hand a lot of people here liked Kitchen Stories which was torture for me.... so who know!!!) I was happy to see it won a big award at a major festival in Europe that helped it get wider release. It's a pretty sick movie I suppose, but I thought it was very provocative and funny with a lot of good artistic commentary on popular culture and conventions. I'll try to take a look. Take care. :) ChildofMidnight ( talk) 19:40, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Did you know... that The Art of Negative Thinking is a Norwegian movie about a parapalegic who rebels against the interventions of his support group and its lead social worker?
The Naming conventions for people (admittedly, it's not aimed towards fictional characters, but from what I can tell, that guideline is usually applied) say that a page name should not start with "doctor" or "Mister" or titles along those lines (it's why Nick Riviera and Julius Hibbert and Seymour Skinner go with their "real names" rather than their more well known names). Again, that guideline is for real people but I can't find anything specifically for characters. I don't really agree it, we should be able to go with their common name rather than using the characters lesser known "real" names for page titles (of course, using that logic, Waylon Smithers would be moved to "Smithers", Ned Flanders to "Flanders", etc.). -- Scorpion 0422 19:04, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. We've had some shakeups regarding late entries, flag changes and early dropouts, but the competition is now established- there will be no more flag changes or new competitors. Congratulations to
Sasata (
submissions), our current leader, who, at the time of writing, has more listed points than
Hunter Kahn (
submissions) and
TonyTheTiger (
submissions) (second and third place respectively) combined. A special well done also goes to
Fetchcomms (
submissions)- his artcle
Jewel Box (St. Louis, Missouri) was the first content to score points in the competition.
Around half of competitors are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. 64 of the 149 current competitors will advance to round 2- if you currently have no points, do not worry, as over half of the current top 64 have under 50 points. Everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places in round 2! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, by email or on IRC. Good luck! A few questions:
1. Are you an admin for wikipedia?
2. If not, then who are you to delete my contributions and tell me my sources are not reliable?
I'm sorry but this is REALLY irritating. How are you the authority of what's accurate and what isn't? Aren't you just another internet editor like the rest of us?
You deleted my cultural reference contributions on two Simpsons episode articles. A "First Blood" reference in "Separate Vocations" and a "Rocky III" reference in "Brother from the Same Planet". And, I DEMAND an explanation. What is a reliable source TO YOU??
I listed NUMEROUS sources for my contributions:
1. "Rocky III" reference in "Brother from the Same Planet":
http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/Brother_from_the_Same_Planet/References
http://www.snpp.com/episodes/9F12.html
http://en.allexperts.com/e/b/br/brother_from_the_same_planet.htm
If this many websites are in concensus, then why is it NOT credible?? Are you saying ALL these sources are false?? You don't even need to look for sources. You can just watch the episode "Brother from the Same Planet" and if you have watched "Rocky III", you'd KNOW it WAS a direct reference. Anyone could make the connection.
Please respond, I deserve an explanation for this act of censorship. I'm not spamming or vandalizing the article. I just want to contribute. User: edlitz36, e-mail: edlitz36@yahoo.com Edlitz36 ( talk) 20:16, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi. :) Just came upon your listing for Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science and Technology at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2010 January 29. I just wanted to remind you that CP is not for drawing immediate attention to copyright problems, because generally those are not looked at for seven days after listing. If you're just trying to draw attention to a potential problem, WT:CP may be more effective. But it is helpful either way if you tag the article so that other contributors can help resolve the question or address the problem. I'm sure you know that there's a whole load of templates that can be used. They're collected for convenience at the copyclean resources page. With one like this, if for some reason you don't think that {{ copyvio}} applies, you might consider {{ copypaste}}. Anyway, I'm sitting down to investigate this one now (primarily by searching to see if they copied from us or the other way around), but just wanted to suggest this for the future.
Hope things are going well with you. :) -- Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:30, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for noticing that Midwest Technical Institute was a copyvio. I rewrote the article and removed your speedy tag because I thought the subject might be notable, and I was able to add references to it. Often the best way to deal with a copyvio article about a potentially notable subject is to stub the article so that it is no longer a copyvio and then expand it with references from reliable sources - or, alternatively, to leave it as a stub with any problems such as unreferenced tagged so that someone with more time can expand it. - Eastmain ( talk • contribs) 22:40, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello! I'm sorry to bother you, but I have seen you do a lot of work on removing copyrighted material from episode summary lists. As a newbie, I have also tried to do this, but it seems to be a losing battle. I recently removed summaries copied from ABC Family press releases on List of Greek episodes, just to find them replaced with new summaries from TV.com. (I only checked a few so far.) My question: Should these be removed too? Are there any sites at all where episode summaries CAN be copied? Another question, not directly related to this...how do you know if the summary was copied into wikipedia, or was copied from wikipedia? Is there a way to tell? Sorry for the questions. I'd appreciate any help/info/suggestions you can provide. Thanks. -- Logical Fuzz ( talk) 21:10, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
I don't know if the article used to mention this, but Jean is married to fellow Simpsons writer Stephanie Gillis. Unfortunately, I've searched for sources that say this, and haven't found much. One that I found a while back mentions that Jean's wife is named Stephanie, but nothing else. It is mentioned in Ortved's book, but it doesn't give any details (ie. (1) I was wondering if there was an accidental "catch all" copyvio tag on most of Keith Cieplicki. I'll be the first to admit parts of the article are violating copyright law, but I did re-word a lot of it before putting it on. There are parts that I feel should stay, which at present are blanked from the copyvio notice:
(2) The second concern I have is regarding Henry C. Wolf Law Library. Neither one of you have reviewed it yet, but given the article's length and whatnot, I fear that there might be a stray sentence or two that are the same. I wanted to point this article specifically out to you as a preemptive concern that it will be wrongfully tagged, in entirety no less, as a copyright violation. It's not (so far as I am aware). When I created that article a year or two ago, I remember using the law library's website as my reference, but I spent literally 3 or 4 hours re-wording and re-writing it. I even made the note in the article itself (at the top of the history section) that it was "adapted and abridged" from the website, proving that it wasn't copied/pasted. I just don't want to see all those hours of agonizing work blanked in one fell swoop because it appears as if it is a copyright violation. Jrcla2 ( talk) 20:53, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I am disputing another copyvio tag. In Kevin Kiesel, the paragraphs titled "Albright" and "Fairfield" are correctly blanked, but "Assistant coach" and "Millersville" are uniquely written and have been wrongly blanked. Jrcla2 ( talk) 21:28, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Regarding your claim that the Alamo comment was a copy vio, I did a google search last night and got this result there I found a few citations with the same comment, the citation Flying added was no wayback and as the comment is so small and was to be found at multiple locations as far as copyright violation goes I saw it as non existent anf being unable to find the citation flying added to support it, I felt it was at multiple locations and not a clear violation attributable to any single source, the exact same comment is at CBS news here, 21st and at the new york times here and at the location you say is the copyright owner usa today here and here as the exact comment was so simple and at multiple major locations I felt it not actually a violation and not attributable to anyone, this opinion was also compounded by the fact that she had added a citation that is now unavailable and why add a citation about the incident when you have supposedly copied the tiny comment from another location, I feel that you may well be wrong in your assumption as regards this claim of copyright violation, please let me know how you feel about this as I wanted to go over some more today but if your of the opinion that I left something that was a violation I will leave it to others, thanks. Thanks for tagging this for speedy deletion, it was indeed a straight cut&paste copyvio. However it appears to be a notable book, so I have completely rewritten the article, using the author's page (which was what was copied) to craft a much shorter plot summery, and then added several critical comments. I don't think three is any remaining copyright issue, but since I technically declined your tag, I am dropping you this courtesy note. DES (talk) 01:46, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey Left, do you want some help with your 3 remaining season 3 episodes? I'd be glad to assist you. CTJF83 chat 08:05, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate that comment. Will I see any of your articles on there? Though, don't expect to see any more of my actor FA's on the Main Page. OMG, I never knew that so much vandalism occurs when the article is featured there. Never again. -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 22:10, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't know if you're still working on the article, but the appearance of Nicolas Sarkozy & Carla Bruni in the episode received a bit of coverage in the media, so that could be incorporated. [7] You wouldn't be able to add this, but now the media is reporting that Bruni had an extramarital affair, which is interesting because in the episode, her having an affair with Carl is a major plot point. -- Scorpion 0422 03:20, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Good day, filthy Swede :) Long time no talk. I know you're involved with the Simpsons articles on here so thought this was the best place to mention it - the Behind the Laughter article is a bit of a nightmare to read, none of the writers nor the director are listed. I was wondering if this was intentional or if it can go ahead and be added. PS: unrelated, but PM me on MT2 with your msn :) IvanP91 —Preceding undated comment added 07:49, 16 March 2010 (UTC).
Hi, I'm back with another question. I was starting to remove almost all the episode summaries from List of Mercy episodes because they were direct copies of text at TV.com. Some of these have blatant spelling or punctuation errors, making it clear they come from the same source. My question: TV.com is editable by anyone who signs up. They can write their own summaries. So how do I know they weren't copied from Wikipedia, instead of the reverse? Is there any sort of "rule" that any info contributed to those sites is copyrighted by the site (becomes their property) and can't be reused? But then I'm back to which came first. Anyways, I didn't delete them after all. I'd appreciate your insight. Sorry to bother you again. Thanks. -- Logical Fuzz ( talk) 03:23, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
No archives. Rats. Looking at the latest episode, I seize on the words "anorexic disorder" and search the history to see when it first showed up. Right here. This series of edits is a strong indication of infringement. It was all added by one person during roughly one time frame. The content did not change, so that's no help. But if these summaries had been added over weeks or months, they would more likely have evolved naturally. -- Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:23, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Heh, thanks Logical Fuzz! The evidence Moonriddengirl found is probably enough to remove the summaries from the article. Hopefully this resolved your questions. :) The leftorium 17:08, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi! I was wondering, would you be interested in running for adminship? I'd be happy to nominate you or, if you prefer a more high-profile nominator, simply offer my strong support. As you know, more admins are needed on copyright issues and I think you'd be a great candidate. (If you're considering declining, please stare at the kitty for at least 5 minutes before responding.) As you've requested, I've explained my use of that template on Talk:Charlie Bit My Finger#Overdetailed. -- Marawe ( talk) 19:38, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

So, Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Starsking? Finished. Good job! :D -- Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:05, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly.
Hunter Kahn (
submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B.
TonyTheTiger (
submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at
Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the
WikiCup talk page.
Although unrelated to the WikiCup, April sees a Good Article Nominations backlog elimination drive, formulated as a friendly competition with small awards, as the Cup is. Several WikiCup contestants and judges have already signed up, but regular reviewers and those who hope to do more reviewing are more than welcome to join at the drive page. If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
