Regarding Education

Juhayman al-Otaybi wikipedia page having a tag Infobox criminal, could not make changes to it. Juhayman al-Otaybi neither represented to Umm Al-Qura University nor he was student. But still Google Knowledge base result shows his education refrs to Umm Al-Qura University, but has studied through Islamic University of Madinah. Our prime object is we dont want to see him in Google Knowledge base results as Notable Alumni. Education

Juhayman al-Otaybi wikipedia page having a tag Infobox criminal, I want to include his education as 'Islamic University of Madinah' at the right side, could not edit the article at the right side, just I has made the changes to the main article. . Juhayman al-Otaybi neither represented to Umm Al-Qura University nor he was student. But still Google Knowledge base result shows his education refers to Umm Al-Qura University, but has studied through Islamic University of Madinah. Our prime object is we don't want to see him in Google Knowledge base results as Notable Alumni. Please suggest how can we proceed to make the changes.

It is the same page; the whole idea of wikidata is to link an article in different languages. https://www.wikidata.org/?title=Q330662&setlang=ar, ie you just add &setlang=ar to the end of the url and you have the page in arabic. Thanks for your suggestion. I have made the changes in arabic by adding the correct university. I have made the changes in both English and Arabic version of the page. But still, the results of Google Knowledge base showing the same old results as "Education: Umm Al-Qura University". It should be "Islamic University of Madinah" . What should I do now. I'd say wait a week or two. To see if google search updates. I definitely cant help with google, it is a law unto itself. I just took a look at the history of the wikidata page https://www.wikidata.org/?title=Q330662&action=history and nobody ahs edited it since 3 April, and that was me. I can also confirm that on wikidta te only education mentioned is at the Islamic University of Madinah. If google are saying differently there is nothing we at ikipedia can do about that, it should update but who knows when. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 22:01, 15 April 2016 (UTC) reply

Proposed deletion of Core process psychotherapy

The article Core process psychotherapy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Could not find any meaningful coverage in independent reliable sources. Zero hits for news coverage, 9 peer-reviewed articles give VERY passing mention of topic, 4 of which were written by the same author, Heward Wilkinson, who is directly affiliated with Karuna Institute. The passing mentions in the presumably independent RS that I could find would only support 1-2 sentences on this topic, at most.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

As I pointed out I think the ANI thread is premature as the page itself states a complainant is to talk to the other editor first, instead of just placing their name on the ANI page. Further, as point out in the ANI thread your actions are without concensus AND edit warring. Unlike you I am not edit warring, I am having conversations on talk pages and an ANI page where I think I make a solid case that my editing is toward the useful outcome of Wikipedia:Verifiability whereas I am not sure what you are trying to do other than apparently trying to get someone you disagree with banned. -- Potguru ( talk) 06:18, 16 May 2016 (UTC) reply
It wasnt me who made the complaint. But it is being upheld and you have no supporters. Whereas people are objecting to your single-handed insistence on marijuana not cannabis. And from the perspective of long-term editors you are repeating an old argument whle disrespectng those same long-term editors. While clamng to be calm. You need to get a consensus before we consider moving these articles back to marijuana, please dont pretend that you have that consensus already. Or that verifiablity policy, whch i am familiar with, backs you up. You didnt make a very good case for your merge proposal of cannabis and cannabis (drug) but if you hadnt made that proposal you wouldnt have caught my attention. What exactly do you mean I ignore verifiability in that edit. Areyouclaiming I need to verify linking to Cannabis (drug), Arkansas or United States. What is your problem with my linking in this way? besides there werent any refs in the opening before I edited it. Why I am i required to verify, what exactly I am not sure, but why am I required to verify and the previous editors to the opening weren't. How, given the lack of refs in the opening, can you make any claims at all about verifiability in the opening. I have now added three refs to the opening. In future, instead of complaining that I made an unverified edit to an unsourced paragraph you should add refs yourselves. it is nt your job to hector others to verify statements that you yourself are making no attempt to verify. I consider this to have been a personal attack. Regarding your edit [1]: Do you actually dislike the previous style, or are you just trying to get the title in the first sentence? If the previous, that's fine. If the latter, be aware for future reference there's no requirement that the title be anywhere in the article; see WP:BEGIN: "However, if the article title is merely descriptive—such as Electrical characteristics of dynamic loudspeakers—the title does not need to appear verbatim in the main text." If I hadn't disliked the previous style I wouldn't have edited it, I think in this case having the title in the opening was/is entirely appropriate, regardless of whether it may or not be in other articles. Speedy delete of redirects

I just declined some speedy deletion requests. While they might not be needed redirects they can not be speedy deleted. All speedy deletions needs to meet one of the criterion listed in WP:CSD. The closest one to what you wrote as rationales is WP:R3. The problem is that R3 requires the redirect to be recently created. The newest redirect you nominated was created in 2015. None of them are recent. If you want to pursue deletion of the redirects you will need to list them at WP:RFD. --  GB  fan 11:16, 2 November 2016 (UTC) reply

I noticed that in both your attempt, you had written that an "application software" is the same thing as "an application program". It isn't. Maybe you should study the article's lead before trying to edit it.

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

Attention: WikiProject African diaspora participants

Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Proposal for a page

Dear RichardWeiss,

As previously you have contributed to Wikipedia in regards to financial articles, would you, please, consider writing an article on Creamfinance? It is a global financial services company that provides personal finance products in emerging markets. The company was ranked as the second fastest-growing company in Europe in 2016. Creamfinance is employing over 220 people and operating in 7 countries both within and outside of Europe – Latvia, Poland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Denmark and Mexico with an IT office in Austria.

Data science

I don't think data warehouse has much to do with data science. It's more of a "big data" thing; big data replaces the data warehouses. But that is about storing and managing the data, not analyzing it with advanced statistics and "science". Yes, we shouldn't use the redirect, but the link probably should go to Data mining#Process. Data warehouses are a part of data science, eg only data scientists are generally capable of building them. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, RichardWeiss. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. User group for Military Historians

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Your edit to Cannabis (drug)

Thank you for permitting the edit, however MjolnirPants subsequently raised a valid point, albeit using the most ridiculous analogy, that in the sentence both "the world" and "the United States" have separately cited sources, making it a little confusing to the casual reader, which is why I then suggested it be re-written to obviate any possible confusion. The edit was reverted by administrator Doc James without any discussion on the talk page, giving the most arrogant of reasons. Ignoring the immaturity for a moment; A source which states that cannabis is the most commonly used drug in the US does not in any way, shape or form also support the claim that it is the most commonly used drug "in the world". The edit was factually inaccurate, and unsupported by the source, regardless of the scope of the article. Doc James has done the article a service by reverting this edit. User:Doc James, I have collaborated with you in the past and indeed became aware of your work on wikipedia when you intervened on the cannabis drug article several years ago, doing a great job, and I have since helped one of your project to translate key medical articles into foreign languages; wikipedia at its best. However, this was a private conversation with a new user, in so far as user talk pages are private. My issue, in this case, is with the US centrism, Wikipedia is about the world and not the English speaking world and this statistic doesn't seem to have significance in a worldwide article on the subject, it seems US-centric. Let me first apologise if this has caused you a problem and thank you for those words. I find it incredulous that the Doc can't admit how the sentence might look odd as it is, or how Americentric Wiki is, although I doubt that is his reasoning. Even more ridiculous is the statement, "The edit was factually inaccurate, and unsupported by the source.", the source had not changed and halving the sentence did not affect its accuracy one iota. Although it now seems I seriously overestimated his understanding when I wrote earlier that he had raised a valid point, after he contradicted that with, "If you want to make the statement that cannabis is the most commonly used drug in the world, find a reliable source which says that". April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

I use an automated tool to help fight vandalism and fix other issues on Wikipedia. At the time I added the notice, an IP user had made an edit to the article which had changed it into Spanish (this has now been reverted). As part of the tool's options, it can add a message on the talk page of the user who created the article in the first place. And the whitepaper is rubbish

ok, so I went to check the document and... you have to give them your email address if you want to see the free white paper.

I'm not going to give my email address to a spammer for the privilege of reading their "White Paper" so that I can help justify having their link in Wikipedia. If it's to be kept, someone has to be able to say why this document meets WP's ext links criteria. Otherwise, well, it doesn't meet the criteria for staying. WP:SPAIN

I have long been aware of the nationalistic fervor behind the disputes concerning Spain and her autonomous communities. For a long time, I did my best to mediate disputes on the less-popular pages. One longstanding compromise was the designation of a person as, e.g. a Spanish Catalan. This worked because, all at once, it openly acknowledged each side, and slightly insulted the other side. There was a state of détente because the topics weren't too controversial. The nationalism went to ArbCom at: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Catalonia in 2007 but there were no lasting Enforcement guidelines. And the disputes have only gotten worse, with the Catalonian independence politics. I won't bother commenting at Talk:Carles Puigdemont. You are correct: a poll is not the answer. These disputes won't be settled peacefully at any level. Frankly, when the discussions become tl;dr I just cut-and-run from the controversial topics.

As for the categories, I am not sure if disrupting the status quo will even be possible for you. If you manage it, then I wish you well. You might be able to shift categories quietly from some of the articles, but probably eventually you'll trigger a louder dispute. Spanish politicians

OK, now that the Basques are sorted, what about Category:Spanish politicians? How many Basques, Valencians, and Catalans do you think are in there? Is it incorrect for it to be that way? First one I found is: Carles Riera i Albert. I would say this: if a politician is active chiefly in his autonomous region only, then he should be classified that way; if he is a Spanish federal politician or active in some other region, then he gets dropped in the grandparent. It's also interesting to imagine all the other categories that aren't so divided. I counted 25 subcats in "Catalan people by occupation" but 69 in "Spanish people by occupation" so there are clearly vast disparities there. Even if the categories were perfectly organized, it would be an uphill climb to categorize each BLP correctly with all the nationalists and separatists hanging out there and waiting to revert you. I have found categories to be quite an intractable task here. They are rarely well-in-sync with the articles themselves. WP:CATV allows me to remove many unsourced ones, and I find them all the time. Then the trees are extremely disorganized because people don't really plan out and diagram how they will interrelate, and they decay over time. Ah well, such a human endeavor.
