Hi PaulLargo,
I was reviewing Saffron Burrows's biography page, and noticed the Categories link to "Bisexual actors". Because the topic of sexuality is such a minefield, I don't think she should be categorized this way, considering that she has never publicly confirmed this information.

Thanks for trying to settle this. The wholesale reverts have been ridiculous, and I have always been willing to work to a compromise with reasoanble people. I have added a couple of comments to the talk page along with a suggestion. I have also made a slight alteration to the article concering the cuts to Walkabout. See what you make of it anyway 79.67.33.247 ( talk) 20:50, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi PaulLargo. Well done for expanding the above article. Keep up the good work. TheRetroGuy ( talk) 13:39, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
I am giving you this information here, rather than in the context of a GA review, because if I was formally reviewing it I would be bound to quick-fail it, and I hate doing that. My advice is that you withdraw this nomination, work on the above points and general article improvements, and then renominate. I will be happy to give informal advice, if you wish. Hello. I noticed you've been making some modifications to
the article in response to my review. You might already be planning on it, but as a friendly reminder, please also acknowledge each bullet on the talk page so I know you either took care of it (you could put Done or just say so) or disagree (reviewers aren't always right)—that will make my job as a reviewer much easier. When you think it's ready for me to take another look, just drop me a note on my talk page. Best regards. --

Hi there. Thanks for directing me to the right place - I haven't checked the talk page for a few days so hadn't seen Briabboulton's comments there - I wrongly assumed you were referring to the message he left me on my talk page. Apologies for that. I see there's quite a few things listed, most of which I think I can clear up over the next day or so.
I have actually been ticking things off on the GA review page. Not so sure I should have been doing that now. If not then please revert my edits and I'll add the relevant information to the article's talk page. Cheers Paul Largo ( talk) 21:49, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I can support that. Thanks. J Milburn ( talk) 22:02, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from
an automated bot. A tag has been placed on

No worries. Thanks for your help. I sort of had it in mind to redirect the page if she was unhappy with my decision, but I'm pleased it appears to be settled. I've seen prominent articles on UK songs and artists listed for deletion or have their notability questioned a few times since I've been on Wikipedia, and I'm not quite sure why people do these things half the time. I've managed a quick look. You seem to have dealt with the problems which I mentioned at the peer review. One thing with regard to online references is that you often give the website address instead of the publisher. Thus:-
I also see that ref 17 lacks a publisher, and ref 38 lacks a title.
Hope these bits help. Brianboulton ( talk) 21:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi Paul, I noticed you contribute to articles concerning English counties, so I would like to ask your opinion on something: I wondered if the matter of the IPA pronunciation of the shire county names had already occurred to you. Like most words in British English that end in r, the final r in Herefordshire, for example, is not pronounced. The occasional exception being that an intrusive r may be used to link to the pronunciation of the next word when the next word begins with a vowel, such as in, for example, 'Herefordshire apples'. Some editors (not British) appear to insist that whether this is so or not, the correct version for the Wikipedia should be the one that shows the r to be always pronounced. Many other editors (mostly British) claim that the IPA in the Wikipedia should show the most usual, most widespread, and most frequently used pronunciation, which in the case of the English counties would most likely be the one without the r at the end. This has been the subject of rather a long series of discussions, some rather heated with personal attacks from admins. For the moment, as I think your unbiased opinion is best, I won't confuse you with links to the links to the many discussions, so I would very much like to know your basic personal opinion here, whichever pronunciation you support. -- Kudpung ( talk) 08:21, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

{{helpme}} Hi. I've been working on an article ( Royal National College for the Blind) in order to get it up to FAC and have had one or two ideas put to me at the FAC nomination which I'm a bit unfamiliar with so was wondering if someone could help.
I'm about to log off for a few hours as I've got to nip out for a while, but should be back online this evening. Any help you could give me in the meantime would be much appreciated. Cheers Paul Largo ( talk) 12:53, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Paul! Hope you're well. I noticed your edit to Heaton Manor School in regards to alumni, namely Ms. Cole. I saw the link to the Mail page in the references also written by Piers Morgan. Unfortunately Piers or the people at the Mail have got it wrong, Cheryl Tweedy did not attend Heaton Manor School, but Walker Comprehensive School (now known as Walker Technology College). Cheryl grew up in an estate between Byker and Heaton (although the newspapers always report this as Heaton, but in actual fact, it's between the two areas). Cheryl lived in both "Heaton" and Walker, but she didn't attend Heaton Manor School. It's a bit of a tricky situation because the reference clearly states this, but as a former alumnus of the school itself, I can vouch that Cheryl did not attend Heaton Manor School. This link here [1] gives a quote from Dr. Gaiter, the headmaster of Walker Comprehensive. The headmaster(s) of Heaton Manor at the time would have been Mr. Peter Illingworth, Mr. Michael Nesbitt and Mr. John Dryden. I'm not sure as what the WP procedure is when there is a dispute regarding a web source and I've contacted the Mail in regards their error. Cheers! BNC85 ( talk) 10:09, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi Paul, I'm a blind Wikipedia admin from Perth, Western Australia, as it says on my user page. I stumbled upon your Mountbatten Brailler article after hearing about a documentary on the assassination of Lord Mountbatten. I used to use the Mountbatten Brailler at school, both as a manual Brailler and as an embosser. Nice work on that article, as well as your page about the Royal National College for the Blind; I have several friends who went there. Graham 87 01:31, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi Paul. Sorry to hear you won't be around for a while, and I hope it's nothing too serious that's keeping you away. I'm happy to look at the articles for you. I'm familiar with the RNC article and have done some editing on it so submitting it should be no problem. I'm afraid I'm not so familiar with the work of Cheryl Cole, although I'm happy to take a look at this too, and to do what I can with it. I notice you submitted it to Peer review recently so can use that for guidelines. Let me know if there's anything else I can do and I hope to see you back here soon. Cheers TheRetroGuy ( talk) 11:47, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi Paul. Hope all is well. Have created the above article along the lines of other university/college notable people lists so that everyone associated with the college could be added. I've got most of them but there may be one or two I've missed. Also, I've created a book about the college. I'll put the article forward for FAC shortly - it's on my to do list, but I'm not sure what the procedure is with regard to this. As for Cheryl Cole, I'm in the process of reading up on her before I attempt anything with the article. Cheers TheRetroGuy ( talk) 13:49, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Alicia Douvall requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles – see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{
hangon}}
to the top of
the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on
the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact
one of these admins to request that they
userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. --

Hi there, I see you recently managed to get Royal National College for the Blind promoted to FA, congratulations. I've got the above school article at FAC at the moment, and I was hoping that you might be able to take a look and offer either your support to, or oppose, the nomination as appropriate. The nom is here. Kind regards, Tom ( talk) 09:17, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
This is a note to let the main editors of Royal National College for the Blind know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on October 19, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 19, 2011. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 ( talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 ( talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) is a co-educational residential college of further education based in the English city of Hereford. Students who attend the college are blind or partially sighted. Alongside regular further education subjects and vocational training, the college offers training in independent living and personal development. Founded in 1871 in London as The Royal Normal College and Academy for the Blind, the college had a number of homes before moving to its campus in Hereford, and was renamed Royal National College for the Blind in the late 1970s. It has been a pioneer in the education of visually impaired people in Britain since the Victorian era, and, as of 2010, is the only college for visually impaired students in the United Kingdom to have been awarded Beacon Status in recognition of its outstanding teaching and learning. The college is actively involved in the development of assistive technology to help visually impaired people in their day to day lives. The campus, located on College Road, Hereford, is home to RNC's teaching, residential and leisure facilities. Students live in halls of residence or on-campus houses which enable them to gain a level of independence within the college environment. ( more...)
