I'm pushing for the Apple portal to become featured; feel free to pitch in. The Mac project has fallen into general disrepair (as you so noted by posting the semi-active template on the project page :) ) and it needs all the hands it can get.

Good one :D. Just a note about vandal-fighting tools if you're interested:
WP:IGLOO is a huggle-like tool that works on Google Chrome and Firefox on any OS, which is why I gravitated towards it. It's still sparse on features (in alpha phase) but if you don't use Windows, it's great for vandal fighting. I like it :).
Airplanemantalk00:44, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Yep, I have it. My
Mac works nicely with
Google Chrome; I even wrote some extensions. Thanks, though.
There's a chat client and a
search engine customization one. There are more coming; I'm still working with the development. They are much easier to develop than Firefox though. About the tb, it's at
User:iBen/TB and I have a script: importScript('User:iBen/f.js');--

On the same topic, just FYI, there is no requirement for a username to be in English. The SUL functionality allows users from all WMF sites to have their username it any language. Thanks.

You need to slow down with some of these reports, I've declined three in a row that were not well founded. You reported
User:Fertilitytips as a
trifecta offense of promotional, disruptive, and offensive. Why? There's no evidence of promotion, and why "fertility" is offensive and disruptive is frankly beyond me. You reported
User:Microjosh as msleading apparently because it's similar to "Microsoft." That's quite a stretch, especially in light of the fact that we have an administrator
User:Mike Rosoft. And you reported
User:Yomama1122334455. I think that is fairly harmless and not worthy of any notice, but I'll admit I'm not easily offended. Instead of asking for a block at UAA it's a better idea in a case like this to simply discuss the matter with the user, either in your own words or using
Template:uw-username. Try to keep in mind that blocking a new user, especially one with no edits at all, is not something we actually want to do, it's something that is done if they blatantly and seriously violate our policies, which was not the case with these reports.

Hello, and
welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Mono, may not meet Wikipedia's

Hello, I was curious as to why exactly was the article I posted for creation denied. The comment left was this;
This suggestion doesn't sufficiently explain the importance or significance of the subject. See the speedy deletion criteria A7 and/or guidelines on music-related topics. Please provide more information on why this musical artist or musical recording is worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. Thank you.
Could you elaborate a little more? I've attempted to submit this article 4 times now, each time it was denied for notability.
I eventually found enough references/sources to prove notability, and now apparently I failed to explain the importance/significance?
I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

New articles must have a statement (or claim) of
notability and be backed up with
references. For example: "Lorem Ipsum's single was the top selling country single.[1] I'd be happy to help with any other questions.--
mono23:50, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
In addition,if there is no significant coverage in reliable, third-party sources, it is not notable by Wikipedia standards, and its article has been deleted before as such.--

We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Hunter Kahn (
submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. TonyTheTiger (
submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at

I don't think it's too far off, but it needs work, as was mentioned on the PR. Most of those points are fairly minor, but are still the sort of things I'd want sorting out before it's passed (dead links etc), although there are some more significant points that have been mentioned. I just don't really get the sense that it goes into enough detail about (at least the products of) one of the world's largest companies.

Um... Mono I have written several GA class articles on wikipedia and been involved in getting articles to FA. I don't need a tutorial. You need to re-familiarize yourself with the speedy deletion policies and take a look at
Wikipedia:Translation.
4meter4 (

06:02, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't speak German either, which is why I requested the translation per the guidlines at Wikipedia:Translation. When a translation request is made, you need to take a look at the foreign language articles. Also, before any speedy nomination you should at least do some internet searches to determine the notability of a particular topic. Drive by deletions like you are doing are sloppy and irresponsible.
4meter4 (

06:09, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
(
edit conflict)I apologize for the nature of templates being geared towards newbies. I know
WP:CSD guidelines and I quote "An article about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant can be deleted under
WP:CSD#A7."--
mono06:10, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I am aware of the policy, but you are ignoring
Wikipedia:Translation. With a translation tag things are not as cut and dry. Also, that still doesn't excuse drive by deletions. You would serve the enyclopedia better if you actually took some time to google a particular topic befoe nominating it.

Hi, sometimes it is necessary some time for giving chance to others to understand your point or to meet your ideas halfway. What about if all participants of this debate take a day or so to:
Allow others to think about your points
Think about why others have a different opinion and try to understand the essence of it
Think how to make your point more clear and understandable
Think how can be found a middle way
Heated up debates rarely have the resolution you expect and may carry instead to protected pages, incident notifications, requests for arbitration, blocks and other undesired consequences,
Take Time to Think!
Ok, I can understand it better if it's pre-planned for it to resemble the Percy Jackson articles. And I did know that Amy Cahill is a protagonist (I haven't read the books but I have at least read the articles), I just haven't worked with fiction topics before to really know what the notability threshold is for them. Thanks!

Sorry; it was at my talk. Could we split the character list in
The 39 Clues to include only major characters, with the others in a saparate list of characters? This would really help with the amount of plot detail in the main article. Also, when assessing, the article is usually automatically placed into a category (in this case,
Category:39 Clues task force articles) when adding the project template to the talk page. The "39clues" parameter does not seem to do this yet.
Airplaneman ✈03:06, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
OK. I'd like to bring up
Template:WPNOVELS2 again. It serves no useful purpose other than to use different colors, and it is a pain to update two near-identical templates. If you agree, I (or you) will be

Template:WPNOVELS so you can request deletion of the other. What do you think?

I really think you should pick one or the other, either discussion of the name or requesting that it be blocked. It seems kind of underhanded to engage in a discussion with a user while at the same time trying to get them blocked. I also noticed in your edit summary it mentioned it was automated edit. Thanks Mono- Just interested in the Dallas azalea history and Lambert's since they started it all. Trying to read all the rules and regs makes my head fuzzy! Guess I messed it all up with my username choice. So if I leave it to someone else to make a Lambert Landscape Company page through the Requested Articles page, is it considered a conflict of interest to add a quick line (source cited of course) to the
Highland Park, Texas page about the azalea displays? Or to cite the company as working with
Lambert Gardens to start the Dallas azalea fad? Or have I dug my grave and need to let things go? Thanks!

LG, if you look at
WP:CORPNAME, it says "Explicit use of a name or url of a company, group or product as a username is not permitted." It becomes a greater issue when you then use that username to create a page about said company. Maintaining a
neutral point of view can be challenging. That's not to say you can't submit material to Lambert Gardens, but it must be neutral.

That's different. The issue with a
WP:CORPNAME is that it may represent a group of users, be used for
promotion, and indicates a
WP:SPA, which is an account used for only one purpose. Since you are not affiliated with Lambert (right?), any edits are fine as long as they are
WP:CITEed and from a
WP:NPOV. You can request a username change at
WP:CHU and you should be good. Note: If you add un
cited info or your writing take on a promotional, non-

Special:Unwatchedpages, among some other things that I can't remember.
I try! =) Seems like you're at least starting to get it worked out. Lemme know what you think about what I posted earlier (Reviewing Articles and CSD stuff). —Preceding
