hello I'm curious as to a page I read said you were last to edit. But I found a bottle of cologne from my late grandpa. And while doing research I've come across this Paul andre or andre Paul.
Which the bottle is signed by. It also has the name Corre on it which I also saw in the article. Plus the name" Michel" coincidence? Idk. But I'm curious as to where this came from. And I literally can't find anything about it. Can you help? Did this person perhaps maybe develop a cologne or what have you back then?
How could a local chapter assist the copyright donation process?
Hi mailer diablo,
My name is Liang, and I am a board member from Wikimedia Taiwan. We are encountering an issue with OTRS now. Here's the story-- There is a family in our city who get in touch with our chapter, they meet us in person and express that their passed away father left a Taiwanese-Mandarin Dictionary. Their father authorize the dictionary to be
printed in paper by a local publisher in 2000 here, and now the copyright is back to the family. Few weeks ago the family contacted
Reke, our secretariat of the chapter, to express they want their father's work to be released on Wikimedia projects. They wish to make the work as accessible as possible.
This is a really exciting news for us in the chapter. There are programmer who is working on the modification of the printing files to Wiki source, and there are also some culture events ideas are brainstormed for demonstrating the way to use the dictionary. However, we are not quite sure how to handle this properly with the OTRS process.
Since the members in the family are all elders, it's highly difficult for them to use email to conduct the OTRS process. In the
consent email template on Wikicommons, we found the following description:
"If you are releasing a work that is not available online, you may be required to provide proof of your identity. If you are releasing a work where you are acting on the copyright holder's behalf, you may be required to provide proof of authorization to work on the copyright holder's behalf." Looks like we can provide some documents to the OTRS team without their direct email, is it correct? If so, then could you give us some previous cases or the paper consent template to show us what kind of "useful proofs" we should provide to the OTRS team.
Thank you for your patience and we are looking for your feedback.
This is the closest one I could find to indicate "Hey, you're still here after all these years: much respect". So, much respect, even respek.

In the second paragraph of this article, it states; the ratio of the nucleus of a hydrogen atom to it's overall size is 145,000:1. This does not compute; the nuclear diameter is 1.75x 10(to-15)M and the overall diameter is 40x 10(to-12)M this calculates to be 22,800:1 which is within 2.5% of the 23,300:1 ratio for U238!!!!!!!! This is a major error and very misleading. — Preceding

Request to use photograph on Clementi Bus Interchange for a smart phone trail
Dear Sir/Mdm,
I am writing to you to request permission to use your photograph of the old bus interchange in Clementifor a smartphone trail around Clementi that we would be carrying out for students and some members of the public. It is for educational purposes and used to educate our students and public on the rich heritage and history of Clementi Neighbourhood.
Do let me know it if is possible to use the photographs. You can email me at yehidaah_beevi_shaik_a@moe.edu.sg.
Almost ten years or so ago a small handful of contributors made a flood of nominations, and another flood of unilateral merges and redirections of articles on Toronto streets and roadways. Reviewing those AFD I see quite a few questionable arguments. I see the nominators claiming the deletions were based on policy, but most of their claims seemed specious, based on hand-waving, not based on policy at all.
In this AFD two of the respondents said "Delete this article on a Church Street, because, so far as I am concerned, the only notable Church Street is my local Church Street." If I were an administrator, and I had closed this AFD, I would have put on my hat as an educator, and explicitly stated I had discounted these opinions where were classic examples of the kinds of bad arguments warned about in
WP:Arguments to Avoid.
It is almost ten years later, and almost all the deleted articles are now redirects, or have been turned back into meaningful articles. I've turned a dozen or so of them back into meaningful articles myself, and would have found this a lot easier if I had the original revision history to start from.
If those deletions were done today there is a good chance the deleting administrator would have left the revision history visible, for just this reason. Almost all the roads deleted in this flood of AFD measure up to our notability criteria. Almost all the deletions were made because the 2006 versions were badly written, lacked references, and lacked other information that established their notability. Nevertheless, articles on topics that are notable, should be deleted cautiously, when the sole problem lies with the current article being poorly written or otherwise falling short of our standards.
Restoration of the revision history assists anyone who wants to write an article that does measure up to the standards of 2015.
So, could you please restore the revision history?
WRT my request for restoration of the revision history of
Church Street (Toronto) -- could you please be explicit here? Did you simply overlook this request? Or did you wish me to interpret your missing reply as your way of telling me to make my request at DRV?
Personally, if you think you had a good reason why you shouldn't agree to restore the history, I would prefer you share it with me now. If I am convinced we will be saving the time and energy of all those fine people who would have ended up reading my request, if you hadn't talked me out of it.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new
"Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.
An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the
required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.
The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that anyone with access to nonpublic information sign the new confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have access to nonpublic information and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy.
Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. The general confidentiality agreement is now ready, and the OTRS agreement will be ready after 22 September 2015. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement:
Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign
If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please
visit this talk page or email me (gvarnumwikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain your access to nonpublic information. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

I have over the past few days made numerous edits to Wiki's "The Battle of Nordlingen 1634".
New information was added from Cecily V. Wedgwood's "The Thity Years War". A number of tweaks were made, mostly to improve usage.
I should mention my footnotes appear in the main body. What remains to be done is to integrate these in the proper order to the existing footnote section and then add the source to the bibliography as well.

This statement is no longer true, and contradicts information in the article itself:
"In 2005, the Liberation of the Netherlands triple privy silver Maple Leaf—the rarest of all Silver Maple Leaf coins—was struck by the Royal Canadian Mint for the Royal Dutch Mint."
It is wrong, because in 2014 the Year of the Horse with Hieroglyphic Double Privy had a mintage of 1,000, while the 2005 issue referred to above had a mintage of 3,500.

Hi, the administrator
User: Ruud Koot made heavy edits to several articles regarding the
Swarm Intelligence topic, removing a lot of scholarly material from many articles, and replacing it with negative remarks, often misrepresenting the content of his citations. There is no way to reinstate removed material as he promptly undoes any changes, he has semi-protected
Swarm Intelligence to further hinder changes, he has investigated for socketpuppetry everybody who has contested his changes, and blocked indefinitely without any prior warning an inexperienced user (
User talk:Aheedar) for procedural reasons (multiple tagging) and alleged personal attacks.
I have contested to no avail the scientific accuracy and neutral point of view of his changes in
Talk:List of metaphor-based metaheuristics,
Talk:Swarm intelligence,
Talk:Bees algorithm.
I reported him to
Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents for his behaviour. His defence was mud-slinging, presenting myself and other colleagues who objected to his changes as single-purpose citation spammers with a conflict of interest. My conflict of interest, if any, is that I am trying to disseminate some of the knowledge I gained in 20 years of research. I did cite in good faith some of my works (6 out of 31 citations in
Bees algorithm, 1 out of 2 citations added to
Swarm Intelligence), and stated I don’t mind if they are removed.
As I have tried to explain in
Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, my concern is about him, admittedly not an expert, hijacking and slanting the presentation of a whole research field, and bullying whoever opposes his personal views. Somehow I feel most of his colleagues (with one notable exception) quickly dismissed my objections as those of a spammer.
As an OTRS volunteer, I would be grateful if you could give me an independent opinion/advice on the issue, and any suggestion on what to do.
Thanks

Hello, Mailer diablo. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned
"extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following
this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016,
a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
Please review
the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you. This message was sent to the administrators'
mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Mailer diablo.
A new user group,
New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at
PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available
here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

I don't know who to complain to. Upon going to Wikipedia today, I was greeted by a fund-raising diatribe against "post-factual" news. Is Wikipedia joining the attack on independent and largely more truthful media sites like Breitbart and InfoWars? Have you joined the propaganda media including the NYT, Washington Post, CNN, and the other main-stream media? If so, you are very much risking the development of an alternative to Wikipedia and being consigned to a slow drift into irrelevance. with these MSM organizations. I suggest you back off and remain neutral in this matter.

There are sections on the WikiProject page dedicated to tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too), and areas on the talk page for discussing the improvement and automation of the various features of portals.
There's a
watchlist, of all the pages in the portal namespace, for viewing Related changes.
And more.
You are invited to join, and participate in the effort to revitalize and improve the
Portal system and all the portals in it.
We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.
The article will be discussed at
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Facilities on the Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Interaction Timeline V1.1
Hello Mailer_diablo,
I’m following up with you because you previously showed an interest in the
Interaction Timeline. The Anti-Harassment Tools team has completed V1.1 and the tool is ready for use. The Interaction Timeline shows a chronologic history for two users on pages where they have both made edits.
The purpose of the tool is to better understand the sequence of edits between two users in order to make a decision about the best way to resolve a user conduct dispute. Here are some
test cases that show the results and also some
known limitations of the tool. We would like to hear your experience using the tool in real cases. You can leave public feedback on
talk page or contact us by
email if the case needs discretion or you would prefer to comment privately.

The
RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
I'd also like to let you know that the
Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the
WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the
project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted
here, for your convenience.
P.S.: if you reply to this message, please {{ping}} me. Thank you. -TT
How can the Interaction Timeline be useful in reporting to noticeboards?
Hi Mailer diablo,
The Anti-Harassment Tools team built the
Interaction Timeline to make it easier to understand how two people interact and converse across multiple pages on a wiki. The tool shows a chronological list of edits made by two users, only on pages where they have both made edits within the provided time range. Our goals are to assist users to make well informed decisions in incidents of user misconduct and to keep on-wiki discussions civil and focused on evidence.
Thank you for your time with this one. I've added an alternative hook based on your proposal. The correct spelling of the name is Lantzas.

I'm admiral laksamana and I'm writing on behalf of a volunteer team assembled by the Singapore-based literary charity Sing Lit Station.
This is just to let you know we will be conducting an edit-a-thon this Saturday (1st December 2018). Our event will focus on editing and creating new articles for topics under or related to Singapore literature. We're a small team of around ten editors, some of whom have recently created Wikipedia accounts to participate. We expect to be making edits from 1000 hrs to 1800 hrs (UTC+8).
I've already had a look at
WP:EDITATHON, and it seems we need not seek approval from a administrator to carry on. However, I'm keeping the Wikiproject Singapore admins like yourself in the loop, should anything like a mass IP block occur.
If there are any additional pointers you could help us out with, we would be extremely grateful for that.

Recently, several Wikipedia admin accounts were compromised. The admin accounts were
desysopped on an emergency basis. In the past, the Committee often resysopped admin accounts as a matter of course once the admin was back in control of their account. The committee has updated its guidelines. Admins may now be required to undergo a fresh

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are
required to "have strong passwords and
follow appropriate personal security practices." We have
updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular,
two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
I have decided after many years editing on Wikipedia that perhaps I should be an administrator. I am a retired professional editor with more than 35 years of editing experience in newspapers, magazines, books and websites. I owned a business for more than 16 years with a large staff and have years of working with people in achieving and problem solving. While I will admit the myriad problems with the writing in Wikipedia has frustrated me, I have come to embrace the efforts of amateur writers without training and education who contribute to the encyclopedia. There is no reason their writing should be in league with the professionals with whom I have worked, but their contributions are to be valued. My contribution is to come behind them and bring their writing into proper style and assist in ensuring facts are properly cited. I would also like to arbitrate in matters of contention to bring about an acceptable solution that values all who participate. Thank you for your assistance. — Preceding

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:EZ-Link.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:EZ-Link.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by
Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from
Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an
image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with
section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the
media copyright questions page. Thank you.
A tag has been placed on
File:Ura logo.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under
section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by
visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with
Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that
Wikipedia:April Fools, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the

Hi, I have been cleaning up
Special:WantedTemplates and noticed that
Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:"_+_"oldafdfull"_+_" is pointing to your monobook.js pages. clearly these are false positives (basically a bug in how WP parses .js pages). it would be really great if you could add // <syntaxhighlight lang=javascript> to the top and // </syntaxhighlight> to the bottom of those pages. by putting these tags in comments, it won't prevent the javascript from executing, but it will remove those pages from
Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:"_+_"oldafdfull"_+_". alternatively, if you are no longer using the monobook skin (many people are using vector these days) and don't need to keep the old page, you could just have the page deleted. thank you in advance for your help.

How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on
better tools to help.
We have
two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can
let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Would you be able to help with reviewing a draft wikipedia page for Farisha Ishak?
Hi Mailer diablo,
I created an article for Farisha Ishak, a singer-songwriter who won the first season of the Final 1, and was signed to Hype Records. She then did hosting, acting, and advocacy work.
I created the article in January and it was quickly rejected. However, I made changes a few days later, but it has not been reviewed again since.
I cam across your username on the Wikiproject Singapore page, so I was hoping you may be able to help with getting the article reviewed?
Broadly construed, yes it is an Indian-related topic. I was thinking more about the SPI results than the topic ban itself, I did consider the indef option for all listed accounts. However, I thought that Makks2010 might not have understood the gravity of the situation and suggested going through the proper process regarding the topic ban. This does not prevent you from doing arbitration enforcement as the issuing admin, so feel free to block (timed or indef) if you feel that is necessary. In any case I suppose we will find out very quickly if Makks2010 is willing to comply with policy and the topic ban restrictions. -

I agree with MD. I think they still haven't understood the gravity of tban. I have tried explaining it to them (along with at least 3 sysops) about the ban. Looks like it's going to be a
WP:ROPE soon :/

Thank you Doug and Herald. Makks2010 hasn't edited since. I have a feeling something might be up and we probably can guess. In the meantime, keep a close watch on that list of articles. -

MF 88
The main point is that the article doesn't cite any references or sources - fails
WP:GNG. It has been tagged as such since December 2018 (over 6 years) without any improvements. If some reliable independent secondary sources can be found and cited in the article then it can be moved back into the mainspace. 01:02, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on
Adolescent clique requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Written largely without good quality sources. Article is very general and fails to go into any depth beyond simply listing cliques commonly portrayed in popular media
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by
visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted.
