Greetings and welcome to Wikipedia! I see that you uploaded an image of the Capital Beltway, which I think the I-495 article has needed for a while. Do you have source information on where you got the image? Because of copyright issues, it's important to know where it came from to be able to continue using it. C.Fred 03:09, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
I see you have an update on the license status of the image. Do you have an email or similar from Bruce stating explicitly that the image may ne uploaded to Wikipedia? I ask because his site mentions "free for non-commercial use," which is not free enough for WP purposes. C.Fred 01:28, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled " Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Could you please adhere to the standards presented at WP:IH when you edit articles relating to Interstates? Specifically, only 2 digit interstates which end in 0 or 5 go in the routeboxes on I-80, 90, and the longer Interstates. Thanks. -- Rschen7754 ( talk - contribs) 04:43, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading Image:Capbw_2.GIF. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are
open content,
public domain, and
fair use. Find the appropriate template in
Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you. -- Carnildo 08:10, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
It looks like we're moving toward consensus on what stays in and comes out of the routebox. Plus, coming from two or three angles, we're coming to the same solution. Hopefully we can get some consensus on this one. C.Fred 01:11, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
As per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings):
Thank you. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 06:25, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 46% for major edits and 78% for minor edits. (Based on the last 101 major and 79 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 06:30, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Just be warned my anti vandalism bot was flagging your edits to the article, if it does revert it please just revert it and it will stop the bot from editing the article. Sorry if it causes any problems -- Tawker 05:04, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Oops... dumb find and replace. Please leave the abbreviations expanded though as then we can link to the articles. -- Rschen7754 ( talk - contribs) 05:25, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:01102006_BridgeOpening.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

You marked this as {{ cc-by-2.0}}. What evidence do you have that the copyright holder has released it as such? -- SPUI ( talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 09:19, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for creating the NC shields! I was thinking that the "Good Roads State"'s highways were getting somewhat neglected compared to those around it. I need to start in on some research and work on articles for the highways themselves. (Though I will probably show hometown bias and start with NC 54. :) ) — C.Fred ( talk) 04:59, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Good idea. You have NCs laid out and most of everything started. My only concerns are regarding the routebox (I'd customize it even a little bit) and the stub because... you're technically supposed to propose it at WP:WSS/P... but they are really harsh on road stubs... so now that you've created it don't propose it now. -- Rschen7754 ( talk - contribs) 04:58, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I noticed that you created many of the highway shields in the I-95 exit list article. If you have time, would you be able to create similar shields for Connecticut state highways? Thanks. Polaron 19:20, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi there, I've been working on the Colorado SH articles; I noticed that both Virginia and Colorado seem to have the same names for the state routes (state highway XX). Is this true? If so, are you planing on using the Virginia State Highway XX convention or the State Highway XX (Virginia) convention? Currently, Colorado is using the latter; if you're planning on shifting too, i'll start making dab pages for the same numbers. Otherwise, i'll just ... not. haha.
By the way, are they called Route X in virginia? It seems that on a lot of the photos they're reffered to as'routes' and not state highways. atanamir 10:38, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Haha how's it going man? Didn't know you were on here either. UberCryxic 21:53, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi,
I've redesigned the shields in SVG for VA:
I'm confused about the font used. this site uses the 'fat' font, while this site uses the skinner font. I've elected to use the skinner font, but it was just a random decision. In fact, this image has both... when this image only has the skinny font. which one should I use? Also, should I make the SVGs in THAT format (the white with a black border), or should i leave it as white shape-on-black-square? atanamir 21:25, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Also, I just use adobe illustrator to make these. File > Save as > SVG. atanamir 07:20, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Yeah i scanned over his edits, and it was just that one that caught my eye, I was thinking that i don't recall the Post's printing shops being on either the Potomac or the Anacostia, though the Times has one close on New York Ave, that what would the be bringing up river that would need a drawbridge anyway, paper? that would not make much sense, since a good amount of "pulp products" for the mid-Atlantic comes threw Baltimore, and it would be easier to truck or train it in, and they would more then likely bring it in by barge, which mould make the bridge being a draw or not a moot point. I have always been told that it is a draw mainly do to the navy yard and site restrictions for the bridge height. -- Boothy443 | trácht ar 04:34, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if i got a little riled up. it's frustrating being in an argument where both sides are repeatedly presenting the same evidence, which both sides consider equally convincing. I volunteer at the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad in montgomery county. I actually did a training burn in loudon a few years back when I was in essentials. In montgomery county, fire and rescue are combined to the extent that the proper designation for firefighters is "Firefighter/rescuer." I agree that this type of designation is contingent upon regional use, but it is this very contingency that spurred the above disagreement (i was fighting the grandiose claim that a rescue squad is necessarily or even primarily all EMS). I think you're solution is a good middle ground. Thank you for contributing to this discussion. Shaggorama 07:46, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
PS: By the way, it's spelled "semantics." :-p
How Exactly do you go about designing route boxes? Is there any certain font or template to be used? I want to do this for some of the state routes that are near me so that I can add them to the article about the route.
Also, how do I go about working with the Virginia State Route Project? I am interested in being a part of it, and would like to know what I have to do with that.
Thanks for your help. -- Willy 21:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
I responded to your comment on the I-95 discussion page. -- Northenglish 23:24, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Much, much thanks for asking. Basically it went to ArbCom. I'd wait. -- Rschen7754 ( talk - contribs) 21:45, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Bobby, I'm up for going. Those prices aren't bad at all, and it looks it'd be cool. Ugh what about transportation? Are you driving or are we going by bus? UberCryxic 23:33, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Bobbie, I asked my parents and they were all-right with it. So I'm good to go. But we're definitely not staying at a crappy YMCA shelter; I'll priceline that shit and we'll find a good hotel that's cheap. UberCryxic 02:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
There are two articles for Virginia Route 199, and one of them has a redirect to another article. I would like to know if there is a way that I can remove the redirect. The article that has the redirect is the correct name, but the redirect is to another page that does not fit the naming conventions. What should we do about this? The links to the pages are: Virgina State Highway 199, which redirects to Route 199 (Virginia).
Thanks for your input -- No1lakersfan 23:34, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Is there any certain standard that we have established for the naming of the pages for Virginia Highways? I thought there was at some time, but can't seem to find it now. I ask this because a friend of mine is creating pages that are about highways in Virginia but they are naming them differently than the ones that are already created. -- No1lakersfan 21:15, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Umnot that I know... but I amrarely on nowadays so I'd ask PHenry. -- Rschen7754 ( talk - contribs) 22:11, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I will be away from Wikipedia for a few months. My access to the site has been limited and I can only get on during a few hours a week. However, during summer my schedule changes, and thus I am unable to get back on Wikipedia.
You may contact me however, at Wikisource or by email (keep me updated on the arbcom case, I will be able to respond)...
I'm not really sure when I'll be returning. Possibly in August or September... although I signed up to take AP Chemistry, AP Language, AP U.S. History, Pre-Calculus, Spanish 4, Physics, and Eschatology and Hermaneutics. Don't know how the homework load will be. But rest assured... I'll be back.

The main thing I'm wondering about is signage on MD 187 (exit 36) - is it east-west, north-south, or east-south? Also, do you happen to have any information on where the directions changed on the east half before I-495 was removed from it in 1977? -- SPUI ( T - C) 04:44, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
I know, I realized that when I was looking through stuff today. I'm still in favor of the merge though (although perhaps not as strongly as before), and like the way the page looks now. Thanks for letting me know! -- NORTH talk 01:55, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for catching the direction error for I-81 on Blue Star Memorial Highway. I'm surprised I didn't catch that when I replaced a similar photo that I had taken on eastbound I-64 with this one on northbound I-81.
Regardless, though, thanks for catching and fixing the error. SchuminWeb ( Talk) 22:38, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Greetings. I noticed that you've made a series of PNG PA shields and uploaded them to the Commons for use on Interstate 95 in Pennsylvania, among other locations. The new format for PA shields is now PA-X.svg, as you can see here: . I will be making SVGs, eventually, for every state route, past and present, in Pennsylvania, so let me know if you need any made. -- TMF T - C 14:52, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
MPD01605, your participation is welcome in the Wikipedia:State route naming conventions poll. Please give your input as to the process by 23:59 UTC on August 8.

I am in the process of changing the code for the infobox to upgrade it so it is more powerful. I have to do some minor tweaking with what was already there and all the route boxes will be fine. I am actually working on that one right now. --Willy No1lakersfan ( Talk - Contribs) 02:10, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
I copied and modified the VA Hiways infobox for Virginia Secondary Route 613 (Fairfax County). If possible, could you help change it so that the separate boxes stack correctly on the right? I can't figure out what to do to correct it. - AjaxSmack 05:58, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
-not sure about listing all the dorms....i think it might be overkill...most college pages do not have this feature...i would say concentrate on the academics or law school...just my 2c
I don't understand the use of the shields. We know from the infobox at the top what shields look like; adding hundreds of almost-identical shields increases loading time without increasing utility. Would you agree to remove the State Route shields but keep the Interstate and U.S. Route shields? -- NE2 01:59, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
You asked Gooday.1 about the brackets on Wikipedia:State route naming conventions poll/Part2. If a word is in brackets, it is to be included the title of the article but not used in text unless it is required for context. So if <Virginia> State Route X is chosen, the articles would be at Virginia State Route 80, but the text itself would use State Route 80, since that is the name of the highway. -- NE2 08:52, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
The brackets around the state name show that the common name that will be used for linking and possibly body text will be evertyhing but what's in brackets. If you vote for say "Virginia Route x", you would have to type Virginia Route x for the aforementioned things. If you vote for say "<Virginia> Route x", then you would just use Route x for linking and body purposes. Personally I think it is a flawed system, because for North Carolina, we all agreed to use "NC x", something that I don't think can be shown using brackets. Yea... it's confusing; it's Rchen7748's way of appeasing supporters of P2. A compromise if you want to call it that. I think that many states are like North Carolina and we should use "SN x" (SN is state abbrev.) for most of them where they apply, but that's my opinion. -- TinMan 12:32, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I reverted this edit, in which you moved the disambiguation links into a See also section. Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Disambiguation links makes it pretty clear that they should be at the top, since they are only related by having the same number. -- NE2 00:21, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
You may wish to put this on WP:AE. Arbitration Enforcement is generally where comments/questions/etc related to closed ArbCom cases are put. -- Bobblehead 16:10, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

In this edit you changed "Virginia Route" to "Virginia State Route". However, the term is "State Route"; "Virginia State Route" is only to be used when context is unclear. -- NE2 16:44, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
