Hello Krish1804, thank you for being straightforward about your conflict of interest with Fog Robotics. However, as an editor with a conflict of interest you should avoid all mainspace edits in this topic area, especially when they could be seen as promoting this new technology. Of course you are welcome to suggest such changes with encyclopedic expert information and independent sources on the articles' respective talkpages (using Template:Request edit). I will post a few additional links after this message, please make sure to read some of the linked information, especially in WP:COI. If you have further questions, WP:Teahouse is a good forum for Wikipedia-related advice and volunteers there will be glad to help. Best regards. GermanJoe ( talk) 17:14, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
Hello, Krish1804. We
welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things
you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a
conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the
conflict of interest guideline and
FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GermanJoe ( talk) 17:14, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. If your account is more than four days old and you have made at least 10 edits you can create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.
Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!
Spinning Spark 00:21, 13 April 2019 (UTC)Hello Krish1804, thank you for the mail. I hope you don't mind when I answer non-confidential details here on the talkpage. Wikipedia-related issues should be discussed and clarified here on-Wiki (imo), so other editors have a chance to follow the issue and chime in if needed. Regarding your question about applying Wikipedia "conflict of interest" guideline:
If you have a financial interest in the topic, you should completely refrain from editing the article (and all closely-related articles) yourself. Without a financial interest - for example as a researcher or author - you should use edit requests for all content that directly refers to your own projects and to research where you have been involved in some way (this aspect is briefly covered in WP:SELFCITE). I'd also recommmend to use edit requests for all edits, that could be seen as promoting new techniques, initiatives or projects. When in doubt in borderline cases, it's better to use edit requests to be safe.
Aside from these general recommendations each case is different of course. Please make sure to carefully read WP:COI and avoid directly editing any mainspace content, when you believe a relevant conflict of interest might exist for the specific situation. Hope these general advice was helpful, and thank you again for being transparent and following Wikipedia's guidelines in this situation. GermanJoe ( talk) 07:56, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
