Let's see: everything we write must be from a reputable source like a book or a government website or some such; we must maintain neutral point of view in everything we write, anyone can edit any page other than George W. Bush, which is our most precious article, and use for of these things (~) to sign your name. You already know that, I think. Anything else? There are almost 1000 administrators who can delete, block users, and protect pages. If you need help figuring something out, ask - {{ helpme}} - or ask me. Thank you very much for your support on my recent Request for Adminship. The request was ultimately unsuccessful - which wasn't entirely surprising - and so I'll be taking special care to address the concerns raised by the opposing !voters before running again. If you have any feedback for me, please don't hesitate to leave it at my talk page. Thanks! |
Please do not add fair use tagged images to templates as you did here and here. Per Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9, the use of fair use tagged images on templates is proscribed. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Thanks, -- Durin 16:32, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 19:52, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
It's very hard to say. You are just beginning, and have much potential. Keep it up, and once you have 3000-4000+ edits, I suggest you have another edit review, or even try out. RFA is a serious business, and many have strict guidelines. bibliomaniac 1 5 02:05, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Hello,
Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can.
Thanks! -- Vox Causa 23:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Before getting into a revert war, you might want to check out the talk page (and the archives) as to why the Senate Historical Office phrase is in there. It was a compromise that was implemented after a very long argument erupted on the talk page over Mr. Obama's race...I, for one, am not keen on revisiting the issue... Thank you for your input at my RFA, which successfully closed at 58/2/0. I will think about the 10 questions and answers I had, and I hope that I will use the tools constructively and for the benefit of Wikipedia. In fact, I have never even met them before. I currently live in Paris and they live in Vancouver (my home town). I heard their music for the first time today on their myspace page. I created The Shiny Diamonds controversy page because I firmly believe that it can meet all wikipedia policies and guidelines. It has been covered by CBC Radio One, the Washington Post, and by City News International. My main motivation for getting this one article to stay alive is that I believe that wikipedia should not become the sum of SOME human knowledge. I recently learned that I'm an inclusionist. Because I'm a still learning the proper ways to create articles on Wikipedia, I have probably screwed it all up. I could really use some help from someone like you. Thank you for your help so far. Hello, H. I was wondering what the function of your monobook is because (with your permission) I might want to "borrow" the text in it for my monobook. I don't know the rules of your talk page, so could you respond on my talk page? Thanks! — ¡ Rand fan ! Sign here? 00:19, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi. You offered an opinion that I'm having a hard time parsing. It was "Keep and No Vote on the other ones." Implied is "Keep [list that I can't identify] and No Vote on the other ones." I can't tell what list you have in mind for your keep opinion, and encourage you to go make it clear. I had one list of six, Uppland had a different list, and you may have a third list or mean one of ours. Can you clarify this? GRBerry 17:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Dear Just H, thank you for supporting my nomination. I am always flattered when someone deems me worthy.-- Berig 09:19, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, i see that you suggested speedcubing in the United States be merged with Speedcubing because it isnt big enough, i think that an article bigger than most stub ive seen deserves its own article aswell as Speedcubing in the United Kingdom i am going to post world records those countries have contributed to aswell as in general i also think that it should generate an audience that is also big enough , thanks Thatperson 17:24, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi Just H, thanks for welcoming so many new users. One quick note, when you leave the {{ welcome}} notice on users' talk pages, its preferable to substitute the tag. You can do this by typing {{ subst:welcome}}. Thanks, Gwernol 18:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
I really appreciate being welcomed to wikipedia. You wouldn't by any chance happen to know if the design for the flag used in the Comoros from 1975-1978 is copyrighted by anyone, would you? ::smile:: Hammon27 19:43, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
It would really depend. While edit count is a good thing, one cannot rely on it solely. Things like how you answer the questions, your accomplishments, your civility, and your participation in Wikipedian functions hold much more weight than edit count. Don't stress yourself out to achieve an edit count. Just edit at a regular pace, and you'll do fine. bibliomaniac 1 5 22:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Logging of the channel is allowed, but you cannot share logs with anyone, or make them public. In some jurisdictions, logging is illegal- for example, I live in Michigan, where it's considered similar to wiretapping your calls with someone else, and could result in prosecution (though I know of no case where this has occurred). Your changes to Somalia made the politics section incoherent, separating a quote from its introducing sentence by a full paragraph. Please be careful not to wreck content in an effort to fix a formatting problem that might only appear in your browser. -- dreish~ talk 15:13, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your support on my successful Request for Adminship (final result 78 Support /0 Oppose / 1 Neutral) I have now been entrusted with the mop, bucket and keys. 1. How many article talk pages do you think will be significant enough for rfa status?
2. I really can't get into the Village Pump or project talk pages so far, alot of stuff that is done on talk pages elsewhere is done on regular pages in project space it seems.
AQu01rius ( User • Talk) 23:37, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
It may be ok for admin candidates to not have that much article talk, but you have to have somewhere around 100 Wikipedia talks, or people will oppose you. I think this'll be one of the things you need to focus on.
I don't think self-nomination is that much of a factor. The only thing about self-nom is that, if you nominate yourself when your not ready yet, you might get humiliated more.
Anyways, if you can work on the following things, I'll try help nominating you (I need to practice on nominating)!
More further, you can try to reply the admin questions (and some optional ones) in RFA. Make sure you can answer each of them with at least a long paragraph. Also, occationally read through the oppose votes. AQu01rius ( User • Talk) 00:27, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

hi, somebody deleted an image I uploaded(FLPC21112242212.jpg), and I was wondering who it was so I could discuss the matter with them in the hopes of figuring out a free use substitute, which I think is impossible, thus the fair use criterion. I have been unable to find it on the deletion log

Thanks for uploading Image:ImgDynCA4HZ202.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈ talk 03:18, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi JustH. Thank you for your "welcome" message. I have a question about how changes to a page, or disputes, are noticed and dealt with. Specifically, I came across a page for David Israel, and I think there are some problems with it. I addressed my concerns in the Talk/Discussion area, and included a "disputed" flag. What happens next? And how do I know if or when someone responds (other than checking the page occasionally)? Thanks. Vbd 23:54, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
