I note that several of your students have recently edited the article Educational games. I have reverted their changes for now based on two criteria:
I would recommend that you instruct your students to make their edits in a sandbox and only publish them once they have been reviewed. If you are not able to review all the edits, you and your students might seek assistance at the relevant article talk pages.
@ Ian (Wiki Ed): Is this a reasonable request for a WikiEdu class? Or am I just being overly picky? WikiDan61 ChatMe! ReadMe!! 18:11, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Hello Jialeijiang. I note that you are the course coordinator of an ESL workshop. The course goals for this course state that students should seek to improve stub or start articles, using their English-language skills. I wanted to make you aware that the articles your students have selected are likely not appropriate for this class. These include Dancehall, Jiaozi, American Chinese cuisine, EA Sports FC 24, Video games in China, and honestly almost every article selected. They are already written in advanced English, and I am concerned that someone just learning the language will not be able to improve the articles to Wikipedia's standards. For example: the sandbox work of LikunZhang7 and Yuangxi Wang is certainly not encyclopedic in nature, and the existing articles are already substantial and cover everything they have written. @ Ian (Wiki Ed): is this an appropriate assignment to be giving? My concern is that English Wikipedia editors are going to have to spend time cleaning up contributions for pretty much any of these that are published. There must be a better way to direct the efforts of these students, perhaps in a translation-oriented assignment. Fritzmann ( message me) 16:17, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
