Thanks for your prompt response. As you may have seen on my talk page, there was a recent ArbCom decision that I found particularly outrageous, and I am interested in electing a new ArbCom that would be more scrupulous, even-handed, and less inclined to abuse its authority. -- HK 07:35, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for the comments! Even with the map that I used as a base to create the Bahamas district map, it wasn't entirely clear on locating some of the areas, so I had to approximate the location based on descriptions and tourism websites. -- Rarelibra 10:23, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi there. Regarding the examples used to illustrate a single-border state, the UK is no less or more "ambiguous" that Haiti in this respetc. Both have one land border. On the other hand, Cuba is much less obvious as an example of this situation, because there is a short functional land border, but de jure the entire island of Cuba belongs to only one state. =] // Big Adamsky 20:45, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

How's it going, Golbez? Long time, no heated argument. ;) I was re-reading my talk page when I saw that you had attempted to work on the anarcho-capitalism article, but gave up on it as a result of RJII. Was this because RJII was difficult, or because he did a good job, making your work unnecessary? I ask, because I am (probably rather foolishly) trying to resolve the age-old dispute on the anarchism article. I think that discussion anarcho-capitalism within the context of individualist anarchism is just fine (it has many individualist anarchist influences). But I think that, most likely as a reaction to the unfortunately dogmatic actions of a few "true anarchist" editors, the anarcho-capitalism proponents on that article (RJII, Hogeye, MrVoluntarist) have been a bit overzealous in their assertion of anarcho-capitalism as "the" anarchism of the 21st century and of anarchism as being strictly divided between socialism and capitalism, collectivism and individualism. Perhaps you agree with them, but that's not the point. At the moment, it seems like RJII is offering us a lot of original research. I trust his expertise (he seems very well-read and intelligent), but I try to shy from what seems to be original research. I was wondering what your experiences with him were like in the past. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Take it easy! -- AaronS 01:59, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Golbez, all the best for 2006 and that we have less fights (with others, and least with each other). Just to hopefully prevent making you angry: I split some Algerian cities and wilaya (provinces) and used X Province. I agree that if only few use "province" it is better to use X (province). I think in the long run all will be split into city and province, seems as if cities gave the name to the wilayas. For cases where this is not true maybe nevertheless other "collisions" exist. I hope that considering the likely fact that all use "province" at some day you will not oppose too much to use X Province? best regards Tobias Conradi (Talk) 02:31, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
ah, now I know why the new message statement didnt disapear... you posted one more. yes, I think our proposals where not that far away from each other. If I refrain from using X Province if it is not used in the whole set, the differences decrease. My work in some sets was to find collisions and thus to justify the addition of (province)/Province. And you know what: I think William too had some interesting ideas. I was not opposed at all to his ideas. I just wanted to correct little parts of his statements. What currently is largely unsolved are municipalities. "X, Subdivision" is used sometimes to refer to a municipality even if a city of that name exists in this region. My standard would be "X Municipality" / "X Municipality, Subdivision". But I think this is not really nice. I posted it on Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(subnational_entities)#Municipalities Tobias Conradi (Talk) 05:24, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed you started all this great work with the lists of U.S. Congressional Delegations from each state; these look quite nice. I had some ideas about the following, and there doesn't seem to be any policy regarding these issues, and since you created the original lists, you seemed like the person to go to:
I was noticing that the succession boxes on the politicians' bio pages are pretty inconsistent: some have no box, others list only major posts (such as if the bio is a former speaker of the house, it lists only the Speaker succession box, whereas others list all roles, i.e. there is a box for speaker, and a box for other roles in government).
As examples, contrast Henry Clay with Langdon Cheves.
I think it is best to put more info than less, so I think Henry Clay's example is better. My guess is that the best policy would be that on every bio page corresponding to any U.S. Senator or Representative (and also perhaps corresponding Confederate offices as well), the full succession boxes should be there. The reason I mention it is that it does seem like a lot of work, and I figured I'd run it by your for some feedback, and also to make sure there's no collision if there is a group doing something similar. Also, it seems to me that this is something which could be accomplished by a bot of some sort, given that the lists already exist, a bot could roll through the chronological entries in the list and make the additions.
Anyway, I'd like to hear any thoughts you have on this when you get a chance. And if there has already been discussion of this somewhere that you know of, I'd like it if you could point we towards that. Thanks!! Deville 19:20, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Everything seems okay the way you've moved things around. I'm just worried that the new names will lead to some wrongly directed links. If you change "South Province" to " Southern Province", you get quite a few disambiguation possibilities. Ditto for Western Province, Central Province, Eastern Province, Northern Province. Cameroon's province are referred to by such names from time to time, and I'd assume the opposite were true for other provinces named for the cardinal directions. — BrianSmithson 02:25, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Golbez, I saw your nice work indeed on the map of the provinces of Azerbaijan. It is quite helpful that you preserved the old boundaries of Karabakh, so that people can see what is being discussed during the peace talks. I would like to also suggest that you add the dashed lines of the old Shahumian region, which is also discussed in the news and which people would probably find useful. It is directly north of Karabakh and many maps do show it (often incorrectly as a part of the officially designated Karabakh region). If you need an example, I can send you one. Anyway, some food for thought. Merci, -- RaffiKojian 06:18, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

It's serious and I am not him, and its not vain.
Hey, sorry about the 'attack' i was just mad. I will make it seriously this time.
Hi, Golbez, you voted oppose on the requests for rollback privileges consensus poll, suggesting that people who would like rollback should just become admins instead - that being an admin is "no big deal". While I think that in an "ideal" Wikipedia, this would indeed be the case, I believe that over time standards for becoming an administrator have clearly risen. This is apparent by looking at the RFA system throughout Wikipedia's existence - intially, all one had to do to become an admin was just ask nicely, now we have a complicated procedure. A recent proposal on the RFA talk page for requiring at least 30 minimum support votes and a significant number of existing contributions was given some serious consideration. There is frequent talk of "bad admins slipping through the RFA net", and while you may not agree with that philosophy of adminship it is undeniable that the standards have risen.
Because of this, candidates who pass are already very experienced with Wikipedia. While this in itself is no bad thing, it means that for the month or so before they become admins they are not being given the tools an admin has which would help them to improve Wikipedia, by removing vandalism and performing administrative tasks such as moving pages. The qualities which make a good administrator are not determined by length of stay on Wikipedia or number of friends you have, but by personality and character. Time at Wikipedia only gives familiarity with the way things are done here. However, being at Wikipedia for an extra month doesn't grant any special insight into the ability to determine which edits are vandalism and which are not. This is why I believe that we should hand out rollback to contributors who are clearly here to improve Wikipedia but won't pass the RFA procedure because of their percieved lack of familiarity with policy by some Wikipedians. I think that adminship should be no big deal, like you, however I see just two ways to make sure Wikipedians can quickly and efficiently remove vandalism - either by all those who believe adminship should be no big deal involving themselves much more in RFA, or by supporting this proposal and giving out rollback to good contributors who have not yet been here long enough to become admins. We have to remember that our ultimate aim here is to produce an encyclopedia, and we should balance the idealism of "adminship should be no big deal" with the pragmatism of granting rollback to our best non-admin contributors. I would be very grateful if you would reconsider your viewpoint on this issue. Thanks, Talrias ( t | e | c) 13:56, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

The issue, as I see it, is threefold: (a) technical, (b) community, (c) copyright. The technical issue is that en-Wikipedians who make casual contributions to commons don't see things relevant to them in RC or their watchlist, so there is the potential that an image may be subject to subtle vandalism, poor changes, or deletion due to misunderstanding simply because the contributor was unaware of it. The second issue is that commons sees itself as a wholly different community and does not give any weight to contributions made on en, consequently there are few en contributors who are admins on commons, and there is little en input to commons decisionmaking. En and commons are both large enough communities that there are considerable hurdles to be overcome in becoming a trusted contributor. I think the lack of shared trust is unfortunate. Finally, the degree of copyright paranoia on commons is extreme, and while we could probably do with rather more copyright sensitivity on en, commons goes overboard. This isn't about fair use but rather about such matters as governmental copyrights, copyright in noncreative works, moral rights, and the like -- all things that are generally not recognized in the U.S. I think this is all unfortunate and that it didn't have to be this way but at this point I am largely of the opinion that images hosted on commons probably ought to be migrated to en if they are used here. Hi Golbez - whether I'd have replaced maps depends on the circumstances, really. As it was, I made those maps at the same time as I made the articles on the different parishes (before I started, there were about five articles on Bermudian geography - by the time i'd finished there were about 50 :). In general, I probably wouldn't have bothered unless the maps were of a low enough quality that I thought that any I made would be a big improvement. Another possibility would be if I'd made a series of maps on a particular topic and found one related article that had a map, and it was of a different sort (for instance, if I'd added maps to five Bermudian parish articles, then discovered that the sixth article I came to had a different style of map). It takes a bit of work to make a map, though, so if there's one there that's not too bad I probably wouldn't touch it. Grutness... wha? 04:20, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

"Please stop spamming links all over Wikipedia. I'm sure the links you added are very useful in some topics, but not in EVERY JAPANESE HISTORY topic. --Golbez 22:24, 27 February 2006 (UTC)"
Golbez, I received this in response to my posting of the 3 top western historians websites on Japanese history on several wikipedia pages. I feel that education is preferrable to ignorance in this case. With regards to Japanese history, any visitor to a wikipedia page regarding Japanese history can now consult a true expert on the topic. Instead of relying on a definition written by a 15 year old whose only knowledge of Jpanese history comes from cartoons and Manga, you can consult a historians website. Japenese history in particular seems to have a problem becasue of all the lore and legend associated with it. Movies and video games are of no help and are not historically accurate.
When i first visited the wikipedia "seppuku" page it stated that it was "rare, shameful, caused the person to lose their estate, people had to be forced to do it kicking and screaming, etc.....) This is the opposite of reality. It was considered an honor, the person kept their estate and samurai status, passing it on to relatives. It was voluntary and an honor to do so, enhancing one's reputation in some cases. It was very common, in fact the shogunate had to ban it because so many people were killing themselves when their lords passed away (Buke sho hatto law 1663).
In Wikipedia "Ronin" was defined as "someone who had foresaken honor and failed to commit seppuku" Again, this is totally wrong.
Bushido was defined as "an invention of the Tokugawa Shogunate" Totally wrong.
Why would you delete the link to the western world's leading expert (Stephen Turnbull) on Japanese History from the Samurai page? I strongly recommend that you allow the posting of the leading experts of Japanese History on these pages, to do otherwise is disasterous. You are allowing 15 year old kids to write your wikipedia when you should strive for accuracy and excellence.
I took the time to look up the leading experts on Japanese History and link to them.
Copy of deleted material:
Response
Short and simple: These might be useful links on a single page, but elsewhere, please only use them if they are specific references. Putting those three links in every article you can find is spamming, no matter how useful they are. I thank you for your contributions, the seppuku thing you mention really is disgraceful, but again, these linkis should not be put everywhere. External links are only for links directly related to the subject matter, while references are to cite specific materials that back up what is said in the text. For example, on the seppuku article, link specifically to a page about seppuku - like if Stephen Turnbull has a specific article on the matter. Likewise, have a specific link to an article about samurai on the Samurai article. Not a link to a general page not specifically about the subject matter. Do you see what I mean? --Golbez 21:15, 28 February 2006 (UTC) [edit]
MY RESPONSE
Turnbull, Wilson and Bryant have material directly associated with the pages I posted on. Bryant is an expert on the battle of Sekigahara and general Japanese History and Turnbull is an expert on all aspects of Japanese History as well as the arms and armor used by the armies. His site would be appropriate on any matter related to Japanese history. You are weakening legitimate research ability of wikipedia readers by deleting these links and opening yourself to criticism like I see being writen in the newspapers about Wikipedia. Japanese history on Wikipedia is a disaster. I am trying to clean things up by pointing readers to the real experts, not relying on history i learned from movies and video games. If anyone uses wikipedia for academic research they are in real trouble.
There is a disclaimer label on the "Miyamoto Musashi" wikipage which states "The factual accuracy of this page is disputed" and refers readers to the "talk" page. You deleted my link to William scott Wilson, who is probably the worlds leading expert on Musashi. Wilson examined the real historical documents about the man before writing his book , "The Lone Samurai". Nice Going. This is a step backwards for everyone. Ironically, Wilson discusses some of the disputed material ... and dismisses it outright. I'd rather listen to an expert who read the real Japanese documents.
Stephen Turnbull has entire chapters related to Seppuku and is very knowledgeable about it, as are Wilson and Bryant. They are perfectly relevant. A degree in literature and language does not make one an expert on samurai and history.
I am Japanese, have spent decades researching this material and I am a direct descendant of the one of top leaders of one of the largest Samurai Clans. My relatives sat on the boards of major museums in Japan. I am offended by the innaccurate depictions and I am trying to correct them. I expect your cooperation. By the way, the Samurai page is terrible and until recently, it had a warning/disclaimer as well.
MY RESPONSE
"A simple example: You put these three links on Seppuku. The word "Seppuku" does not appear on any of the three links. Therefore, they are irrelevant to the subject at hand."
Any knowledgeable person on Japanese history would realize that these men are the leading experts on this topic in english, and their books would shed some light on the subject. Turnbull has one of the BEST sections on Seppuku in his book. In fact, I posted excerpts of "Samurai way of Death" when I rewrote the seppuku page.
If that's the case, then cite it as a reference - do not link to a site from which to purchase it. We can find that ourselves if we so desire. --Golbez 00:51, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Then link specifically to those chapters. I've said this three or four times now, what part of that do you disagree with? --Golbez 01:27, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
The samurai page had Turnbull's and wilson's links removed. The page is sorely in need of this information. what part are YOU not agreeing with?

If you want to block the IPs that are posting legal threats on the Village Pump, a block of "151.213.0.0/16" for 24 hours or so should do the job -- but be prepared to take a lot of flack for blocking such a large range. A block of "151.213.224.0/19" might be sufficient, and it's a significantly smaller range. -- Carnildo 06:52, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Golbez. Regarding Wikipedia:In_the_news_section_on_the_Main_Page/Candidates#.5B.5BMarch_10.5D.5D.2C_.5B.5B2006.5D.5D, I've reworded the title and linked it to another article, Balochistan (Pakistan), which already had some related background. I've added a fair bit of text about the blast there too. Is it OK? Veej 11:05, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
You stepped in and took action while I was humming and hawing — do I block or do I wait? I'm not very familiar with Enviroknot, though of course I've seen some of his contributions, but I am familiar with ROHA — someone in Germany who edits anonymously from lots of different IPs (and so can't be banned), but who always puts ROHA in his edit summaries. His favourite article is Adolf Hitler, which has been semi-protected an many occasions because of him, but I think he has also, to a lesser extent, made a nuisance of himself at Bob Dylan. I don't personally think User:OWL-FELLS is ROHA: the style is quite different, and ROHA never blanked pages. That said, he certainly was not here for the good of Wikipedia, so I'm sure if you hadn't blocked, I would have done so at his next edit. Cheers. AnnH ♫ 23:08, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
Hello, I was wondering if you could help. In the midst of a discussion about an article, a user has come in and accused me of "having an agenda" and making generally derogatory remarks and speculations about my personal beliefs. I erased it, but one of his friends keeps reverting it. It is at Talk:Intelligent design/Townes RFC under "Benapgar's advocacy" at the bottom of the page. What do I do when someone says I have an agenda but I don't? Or they make false claims about me? I remember saying one of the editors on that article had an agenda before and I got blocked for it. I told this to the person who is reverting now, but they don't seem to notice the double-standard, let alone notice that it is a personal attack, or that it's "discussing the contributor and not the article."-- Ben 05:54, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi Golbez,
You made a map for departments of Haiti in French : Haiti map with named departments.
Can you make it in Haitian, pls? Thx.
In the ht wiki, we are using the numbered map : article in wiki ht for haitian departments. The alphabetic order is not respected anymore. The named map would be better. The name of the image could be something like AyitiDepatmanNonYo.png.
If you cannot make it, can you explain to me how to change an image or indicate me a wiki article giving info on that task, pls? Thx.

Hi Golbez, thx you so much.
I am not 100% sure. I think that that map is the first one in whole Internet to be written in Haitian. Not in English, nor in French. That is amazing!
You did it very professional. I saw that you also change the order of the departments in the article and you put the name I asked you. Really cool ! I appreciate this kind of details. :)
I will tell you (one day I hope) when I will have all info for other maps (on Haiti of course) about:
About cities, I think using a blank map image and place a cross with the map html tag, or something like that. I will use the positions on UN maps.
If you are overbusy those days, just let us know how to do it. :)

Hi golbez. I posted a candidate "Three charged with 'racial hatred' for protest at Danish Embassy London." at 6am utc. please will you look at it and consider it for the main page. it's a fairly new story (the details of arrests/charged), so i'm keen for it to be seen whilst it's still fresh. ie. before people read it in today's papers. sorry if i seem impatient. this is all very exciting for me. Hi Golbez.
Sorry to bother you, but this is with regards to the article I added and you subsequently deleted in the "external links" section to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sola_Aoi - the blog discussion itself serves to support the idea of whether the lady's bust is natural or not. Someone changed the definition of "Natural Bust" to "Yes", when it's highly disputed in internet circles; and therefore I thought it might be useful to add this discussion as a source to support the idea that, yes, it is disputed. Not that it matters, it's just a bust after all. I just thought I'd back up my decision to add the article.
EDIT: I just figured I could easily debate this in the "Discussion"-section. I'm sorry, I'm still new to all this.
Was the talk page really so inflammatory that it had to reverted and locked?
The answer is "no", by the way.
Greetings. You made the original chart on United States Congressional Delegations from South Carolina back in 2004 -- great work by the way -- but there's a minor factual error. Saw your edit summary comment [2]. I thought the long parenthetical clause in the first sentence (before I rewrote on March 16) was a problem for readability. Are you thinking there's now too much emphasis on structure in the first graf, or what are the problems that make you favor reverting? Is it that you think all the terms must go in the first sentence? -- DavidH 18:59, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi Golbez. Thanks for your work on improvement of the maps of Azerbaijan. I just would like to ask you why on the map of Nagorno-Karabakh the name of Shusha is given in Armenian spelling as Shushi? This town had an Azeri population, and now is mostly on ruins and uninhabited. According to the practice adopted by the international organizations they use the names officially established by the government of Azerbaijan, as this territory is internationally recognized as part of that country, or use the names that existed before the conflict. I think that the name of Shusha should be corrected. Regards, Grandmaster 19:52, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Golbez,
Wow, that was a fast revert of my edit. Look, I understand the point of there being two articles, one on the United States and one on the History of the United States.
I have just finished an extensive restructuring of the following articles: Mexico, History of Mexico and Spanish Conquest of Mexico. It took me several hours of moving text around from one article to another and merging text where the same idea was said in different ways.
It would be fine if the United States article had a complete and good summary of U.S. history up to the present. However, it doesn't. It stops roughly at the Civil War and does a pretty poor job with the last half of the 19th century. There's nothing on the 20th century at all.
I propose to fix this by brining stuff over from the History of the United States article and doing the same restructure and merge exercise that I did with Mexico.
I understand that we don't need all of the text of the History of the United States article in the United States article. However, the easiest way to do that is to copy it all over and then delete parts during the cleanup process.
I know that temporary work should be done in a sandbox page. However, being a newbie, I don't know how to set one up.
Any suggestions or advice will be welcomed. (except for the one about the long walk off a short pier).

Hello Golbez, I've taken the liberty of delisting the above nomination well before the customary 10 or so days. I trust Splash's reply clarifies matters considerably. Regards — Encephalon 04:27, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
But out of transpency, I thought that I should write it here and clarify a little more about this. The user Ankaram, is most certainly, and even certainly Sedat Laciner the professional Armenian genocide denier and very close to the Turkish government who has written a good deal of materials specifically aimed at linking the Armenians with anti-semitisn. The evidences are clear. First, the anonymous user who added on the anti-semitism article the links to the articles published by Laciner, and all the links from the Journal of Turkish Weekly, who Laciner is the chairman of. This was done in March 10, this anonymous user also added materials relating to Laciner organizations and affiliations, as well as edited the Armenian Genocide article with materials that Laciner has written himself. Not to forget also the fact that this same anonymous user has added a link in the Armenia article to his article and his journal. Here all this anonymous users contributions. [3]
While this anonymous user appeared in March 10, on March 11, the login Slaciner was created and he started contributing [4], on his user page, he rightly say who he is etc. He also created the page about himself. On 13:30 of April 1, 2006, he stop contributing with this acount, another account appear the same day, which is Ankaram and continue the work started with the alias Slaciner and his attempt to place his works links and his journal everywhere he can find. Right now of course after that anonymous edit of his on the Armenian Genocide article he has not edited there, but this is due to the fact that the article is now locked for new users.
I think it would be wise to have checkuser checked about the three, but since my last request about Tommiks, Karabeir and OttomanReference was refused, checkuser rules to checkuse seems to be either strict or either there seem to be selection on what members request will be accepted. If you think there are sufficiant misdowing, feel free to request a checkuser..., I think given this man works mission, his articles mission and the fact that he has contributed to Turkish government institutions such as the Institute of Armenian studies founded specifically to deny the Armenian genocide, it is a matter of time that under this new alias he has created(Ankaram), he will start disrupting Armenian related articles. It is like Zundel login an account in Wikipedia contributing in the article about himself and then, creating another account specifically to edit Jewish related articles. Also, while the links he has added under anonymouty to his newspaper have been left there, I think neither his newspaper is notable, neither it has the credibility to be used as a source for anything. This man consider Armenians to control the world public opinion and has written works with titles such as : "Armenian propaganda" etc. I wait your comments about this issue. Regards. Fad (ix) 21:48, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

How is it POV is that's what the judges ruling the case decided? The artist used the same exact words that male artists used in singing their songs, only turned them around so they would have the opposite meaning. My understanding of the ruing was that the FCC acted rashly and in a manner discrimatory toward the artist simply because she was female and she used tha language in a feminist context--how moire blatant can you be? I've taken the liberty of removing a section of Danny's talk page where you and two other editors seemed to be telling Danny how he is to do his job. This seemed inappropriate to me, given Danny's responsibilities, line of command, and the fact that he's in direct communication with Jimbo and (in the case of an action that needs to be taken) the complaining party. I hope you'll realise I'm not denying your right to express disquiet at something that worries you, but in this case the tone adopted seemed to be somewhat dictatorial and overbearing, and after a long day in the office talking on the phone to attorneys and whatnot to keep Wikipedia from being sued into the ground, this is not the kind of treatment that Danny deserves. -- Tony Sidaway 20:49, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

I noticed you mentioned too much vandalism fighting and not enough content editing. Tell me more, if you've got a minute. I'd offer to take off your hands any specific users or articles you'd been monitoring, but it looks like you've just been watching changes in general. I did see that you sometimes focus on hurricane season articles; if the frustration of trying to fix and clean up the larger ones gets to you, can I suggest taking some time off to work on one of the neglected, more focused articles, i.e. Hurricane Katrina effects by region? They don't tend to get as much attention from editors and vandals alike, so it's kind of a nice place to spend some time doing much-needed research, wikifying, cleanup, or whatever else. Anyway, just some ideas, drop me a line if I can help with anything. Tijuana Brass ¡Épa!- E@ 23:26, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Recently, I have been making substantial improvements to the article on Hurricane Joan-Miriam. One place where it is lacking is pictures. Now, the NHC has a picture of a page from a newspaper available at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/storm_wallets/epacific/ep1988/miriam/news/mh1025p1.gif. Since it is from a newspaper I am of the opinion that it is copyrighted. What I am asking is would it qualify as fair use to upload that picture and use it in the article on Joan-Miriam, in either its current form or with the text (outside of the headlines) somehow blurred out or erased. I have not uploaded that image yet. I would like your opinion as to whether doing so would qualify as fair use. Thank you for answering my question and providing assistance to me. The summary article is inaccurate and misleading. To say that the white population is 81 percent without saying what groups they count is EXTREMELY misleading. Not all people are going to read into the main US demographics article and they are going to go and think that the US is 81 percent European. Even the US census bureau says that most Americans do not think hispanics are European and should not be counted. Actually, I'm working on an article for the Walker family, as I don't want to discuss all the Walker connections on the Bush family page. I've been researching and correcting articles in prep for that. But it prompted me to fix the omission of important spouses (that family tree was just copied and haphazardly expanded from a list page). What was even weirder was that this made me notice that Dorothy Walker Bush wasn't explicitly included in the George Herbert Walker article! -- Dhartung | Talk 07:37, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Metal Gear was ported to Dreamcast. Do some research and you'll know that only three playstation games were ported to dreamcast by Bleem!. Okay? Next time, do some research, think twice, and review your brain's contents before doing something like that. The fact that you gave a description for your revert saying things you don't know makes me angry. Please don't do that.
Talk about unofficial. Look at all the cameos included in the article. If those go in, this would, too. Besides, the Bleem port can't be too unofficial. You don't see Konami blaming Bleem for making Bleem! Metal Gear Solid, do you? Oh, and Mario Brothers on playstation is just what you think. Don't compare a car with a fruit. Mario Brothers was CLEARLY meant for Nintendo and the like. Where does it say that Metal Gear Solid is Dreamcast-restricted?
I see what ya sayin. But you see, I only added Bleem! Metal Gear Solid, because it is official enough. It appeared on some cheat sites and was considered an official released game in some other sites. Don't ask for these sites, as I don't remember. Doing research will be big help.
Loved the nature of your question. I'm glad I'm not the only one who would be driven batty by a discrepancy like that! -- Myke Cuthbert 04:56, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Thought I'd come and annoy you with this as you appear to have been one of the last two people editing the template. Why does it give the location as "E" and not "W" in the headers such as Big Flats Airport, New York? A look at the history of the template seems to indicate that it's always been like that so I didn't want to change it but Canada is west of the Prime Meridian and I thought the US was too. Dear Tropical cyclone editor,
As a member of the Tropical Cyclone Wikiproject, you are receiving this message to describe how you can better tropical cyclone articles. There are hundreds of tropical cyclone articles, though many of them are poorly organized and lacking in information. Using the existing featured articles as a guide line, here is the basic format for the ideal tropical cyclone article.
Good luck with future writing, and if you have a question about the above, don't hesitate to ask.

Everybody has a point of view. If I see an error, I am trying to correct it. This is my point of view (POV). There is nothing wrong with this, is it? For example, it is well known fact that Albanian Church was founded by Gregory the Illuminator who was also the founder and patron saint of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Do you disagree with this well-known historical fact? 68.183.5.165 09:29, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
P.S. In the article it was wrongly stated that "Under the Arabs, the Albanian church was subordinated to the Armenian Church...". which is simply not true. 68.183.5.165 09:33, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
This is another example of nonsense. It's true that Azerbaijan was recognised within the territory, which it does not control. In my opinion, this is contradiction. (Nobody is perfect, including UN... If international law ould becontradicts with its own statements, it should be noted accordingly.) 68.183.5.165 09:39, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
The Azerbaijani community is led by Nizami Bakhmanov, the head of the executive power of Shusha region.
Nizami Bakhmanov cannot be considered as a leader simply because he was never elected by Azeri community, but was simple appointed by the soviet authorities as executive power of Shusha region, representing 20% of the population of Karabakh at that time. Azeri population of Karabakh was a really small community and it was never orginized and represented. Currently this community does not even exist as a community. 68.183.5.165 09:49, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Your recent change of vote to objection because of the readdition of the table and then accusing the article of being unstable is unfounded, because there was never a majority concensus to remove it in the first place. So you're not the one that reverted back to an edit of the Charlotte page that had a major deletion in the introductory paragragh, thereby supporting the vandalism of the previous editor? I read that you saw my revertion back to the full and factual intro paragraph as a 'less than cordial edit'. But then your revertion back to the edition that deleted all of the facts about Charlotte and its fortune 500 companies and booming development and growth was a proper one? And you claim to have spend time in the Charlotte area?
I am indeed a Charlottean, have been in the University City area for the past 6 years. I apologize if I did falsely accuse you, I'm not trying to make enemies. I was just upset when I made the edit with all of that info and someone just deleted everything that I typed. And sorry for the language I used, that was inappropriate.
There was discussion to why the the American Civil War wasn't mentioned in the intro becasue of it's major impact on the US. It caused one editor to oppose the article for FA. Also there is mention of the Revolutionary War and World War I and II in the intro. The Civil War is just as important as all three of these wars and deserves to be mentioned in the intro. I see you've moved the Pit (Kid Icarus) article to Pit (Nintendo). Was there any specific reason? It seems to be the conventional way to name articles about video game characters - such as Link (Legend of Zelda) rather than Link (Nintendo) - and is more precise.
Also, I find it strange that this move was not discussed on the talk page and marked as minor, as Wikipedia:Requested moves clearly stresses that requested moves should be proposed and discussed as part of Wikipedia's procedure. Guermantes 21:00, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

User:LGagnon and User:Alienus (who is an admin) are engaged in an extreme campaign to discredit objectivism, violating wikipedia policies. LGagnon has deleted others' comments on the talk page [9], and labeled everyone who disagrees with him a "Randroid" or "Randist", even though most people on the talk page aren't "Randists". They want to strip any reference to Rand being a philosopher, despite numerous sources saying so (and the low threshold for stating this, given that someone being a "philosopher" doesn't bias anyone much in favor of their views). They also want objectivism listed as a cult, despite no reputable cult references claiming so; all they have is that people who oppose her call her movement a cult. When it's explained that objectivists aren't cohesive, LGagnon changes the subject and claims that because of their ideas, they're a cult [10]. Please review the Talk:Objectivism_(Ayn_Rand) page's last few topics. MrVoluntarist 03:48, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

I am working a little on arab subdivisons. Some moved things in Lebanon, now they got comma from me. If you want to do it to brackets, go for it. I could not since there where allready redirects. Also found new collisions when translating some of the "al mintaqah XY" to "XY Region". I dabbed with brackets. Additional collisions occured when changing Northern etc. to Ash Shamaliyah etc. The treating of compass direction is not consistent. Not sure what is better, to translate into english or not to translate. I think I prefer not to translate and stick to arab names. People just kind of figured it out due to my early additions from the HPC tropical cyclone rainfall climatology. There aren't many meteorologists in this project (that I'm aware of), so I purposely didn't make a big splash when I initially started making edits on here back in January. Hi. I noticed that you were a memeber of ProjectCongress and I was wondering if you had an interest in being an active member in the improvement drive. It's been dead for a few weeks, but I'm attempting to gather around ten people to help on it. It seems kind of hard to improve an article single handedly but with that many people working on it it should be doable. If it returns there would probably be some structural changes (time period, only one article during it), are you interested? I know that you're busy in other parts of the project but with your support and nominations we can also direct our interests toward the articles you're interested in. Before I had asked you what to do about User:Alienus for his abusive comments. You suggested mediation, but the description for the purpose of mediation doesn't seem appropriate. I'm not trying to "reach consensus" on anything; he's antagonizing users, and any admin can see this at a glance. Just look at his comments on this one page: [11]. He basically says everyone who doesn't agree with him must be an Objectivist, and if they deny it, he'll pry and ask if they're Libertarians, then make smug remarks about how they must be fellow travelers. I thought we were supposed to go straight to admins about this abuse. MrVoluntarist 19:18, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey Golbez, Clevelander here,
I'm having trouble with Adil over the Nakhichevan article, specfically a section he wants to submit that he believes proves that the Armenians destroyed their own khachkars in Nakhichevan. See here and for our more recent discussion here. A little background; due to an ongoing dispute, chiefly between Grandmaster and Fadix over how many Armenians Shah Abbas deported from Nakhichevan in 1604, the Nakhichevan article was closed, at my recommendation. Before that, the dispute seemed as though it would never end. Because of this, as I became involved in the khachkars dispute with Adil, I conceded basically because I didn't want to start another lengthy Armenian-Azeri dispute. Since the article has been closed, I've been able to work out the Shah Abbas issue with Grandmaster. However, the khachkars dispute with Adil resurfaced. If you can help that'd be great. -- Clevelander 20:46, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Just a note that I'll have to politely disagree with your revert of my restoration of the deleted comments on Talk:Moon, but given the overall insignificance of the comments, I won't press the issue and have left the page as is. I just feel it is generally best to encourage people not to delete anything from talk pages, because it can provide a very useful record for other editors who might be confused just by looking at the edit history in determining what happened. (Granted, the record is still there in the talk page edit history, but very obscured). I just wouldn't want regret to become a valid reason for removing one's own statements from a talk page. I will not start again accusing Grandmaster of POV pushing, even if I strongly believe he is doing this. But please pay attention to this discussion [12]. I will not waste my time on this, since discussing with Grandmaster from the beggining has been fruitless in my cases. When a position is contrary to his, it will not change a thing that dozens of materials published in peer reviewed publications are provided, he will strongly oppose to its inclusion, even as a position. See for instance what happened in the Nakhichevan article, in which I refrained doing anything, as it has become a total waste of my time. Grandmaster is comparing Bournoutian, who is a US accademician, with a Historian of the republic of Azerbaijan. Bournoutian is even used by such scholars as Justin McCarthy who is qualified as a revisionist, his attempt at the credibility of scholars by using their ethnicity has to be put to an end. He is now suggesting that Bournoutian may have fabricated official records and by doing this he is defaming the scholar in question, which is a crime.
I have provided materials about the 1823 official surveys, those of 1832 and those of 1836. The only materials about the resettlement of Armenians in Karabakh refers to 279 families, and not in Nagorno Karabakh but elsewhere in Karabakh(excluding the mountainous region), two specific area. He claims that I have done nothing other than citing Bournoutian, when Bournoutian research is the one mostly used in the literature of the last 20 years or so. Quoting other works would be simply using Bournoutian by proxy.
Saying I am tired, will be viewed as repetition, I am just reporting this to you insteed of starting to call him a POV pusher. I seriously believe that it is time that someone deal with the situation and explain him really what NPOV means. Regards. Fad (ix) 22:53, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, let's see...
Regarding your question about the choice between center platform and side platform stations, I don't know. Every theory I've heard about how what became what gets broken somewhere. The number-of-entrances theory you suggested is broken by a LOT of stations, as I can think of quite a few center-platform stations with two entrances, and quite a few side-platform stations with one entrance. I've also been told at one point that center platform stations are deep-bored while side platform ones are cut/cover. I know a few center platform stations (Union Station comes to mind) that break this rule.
The only stations that I know the reasoning about the platform configuration for certain are Rosslyn and Pentagon, where they were designed as bi-level stations due to the junctions at those locations to avoid an at-grade crossing.
As for the Maryland stations, particularly along the A Route, I think it had to do with the way the rock was at those locations, since those stations are deep-bored.
Also, as a side-note, the only station name that I outright reject is "Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport", due to the way Metro was arm-twisted into renaming it at their own expense. The other name changes, I don't mind so much. One look at my site, where all the names are current except for National Airport, confirms that. SchuminWeb ( Talk) 04:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I merely point something out on the discussion page and user:AdilBaguirov attacks me and my nationality. He then insults my country men as shown here [ [15]]. His behaviour is totally uncalled for and he has been warned in the past. 69.196.164.190

What does this statment have to do with anything and why does he bring up Iran? He writes to me on the talk page, "International NGOs protest far more against Iran and its treatment of minorities of Iran, should I provide a few links about that?" It is obviously an attack, because he is biased to the point of blindness, where he beleives just because I cited a relavent source about the treatment of Prisoners in the Republic of Azarbaijan that refered to the TMR as a Republic and not an Autonomous Republic. I am not upset about him bring up the fact that NGOs cite Iran as breaching human rights, I am upset at him deliberately using this as an insult in a totally unrelated conversation. It was simply spiteful. And also not everyone is a blind nationalist to the point where the fabricate information like him.
He goes on to say, "Anyways, as I said, it is unclear what you tried to say or oppose with your above post, and how it dispoves even 1% of what I wrote."
And the most ironic part for someone who misrepresents the facts in a systematic manner, "Let's speak with facts and knowledge, not emotions and biases."
It is all on Talk:Talysh-Mughan Autonomous Republic. He has also been disruptive on other pages with myself and other users. I am really getting tired of his behaviour, along with user:Baku87, and GM. I don't think I can assume good faith with any of them and to be honest I don't think GM is on vacation, I think he is sockpoppeting and I have very good reasons to think so. 69.196.164.190

Golbez- I thank you sincerely for your (limited) trust in me. I would like to personally apologize for my attacks on you, and for the time and effort my past vandalism has caused you to have to extend.I will be didicated my time on wikipedia first and foremost to fighting determined vandals and trying to reach-out and convert ones open to a change of ways, and secondly to those articles of which I am of knowledge. I thank you once again and look forward to working possitively with you and others in the future. Betty Yves 03:24, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi Golbez,
I liked your version of the match fixing scandal snippet as use of the past tense for a previous event is correct, and avoids the issue we've been 'debating' so much of late! However, someone's changed it back to the present since then so if, by the time you read this, no one else has done so, please could you revert that part back to your own version? Cheers — SteveRwanda 10:09, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and just for the record "Italy win the World Cup" is completely correct in the UK while "Italy wins the World Cup" is wrong. It all comes down to the same issue dicussed before, namely that teams are always plural. And since the debate is only about what seems normal, rather than what's 'right' or 'wrong', I'm not sure that convention in itself was justification for the American Revolution, though I dare say you had other reasons as well :-) SteveRwanda 10:09, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
I'd like your input on the current process. Read below Trial run. Particularly your input on the "incorporated" vs. "established"/"created" would be appreciated. The timeline is an interesting read :) - FrancisTyers · 12:58, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Golbez,
The information I have compiled for Wikipedia has come from, believe it or not, the Trivial Pursuit Millennium Edition PC Game. All of the information may sound strange, but I assure you it is completely legitimate information. But thank you for your concern. This is simply a friendly message assuring you of the info legitimacy. -- Mr. Brain 23:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Dear Golbez,
Both me and Francis strongly believe that your continued involvement on the NK page will greatly contribute to its quality, as it has before. Please do not let uncivil remarks by an editor keep you away from it--allowing that would undermine the very concept of integrity on Wikipedia. No single editor has the right to decide who enforces the Wikipedia policies on a page and who does not. Please continue your valuable participation on the page.-- TigranTheGreat 21:51, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi - Have you noticed the question I posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Maps#Locator dots? I'd really like to hear from some of the map "regulars" about this. Golbez, you blocked me in error. I am using AOL and am not in the process of vandalizing any article. In fact, i was cleaning up an article tagged for cleanup, Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Please take out this block on me.

At tne incident board, you wrote "Your edits to that article are the first it has seen in *three weeks*; I see no reason this should be posted anywhere, let alone here, as it has nothing to do with admins. Maybe if there were an edit war going on, but by definition there isn't. I see, at best, a delayed content dispute."
Right now there is an edit war with someone tryign to add a conspiracy theory to Brett Kavanaugh with sources that are either debunked or an obscure biased FBI-COVERUP.COM. C56C 23:12, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi, Golbez. Sorry for bothering you regarding the NK page again. But remember the part about "NK needing two moderators to prevent POV pushing"? Given the renewed influx of POV pushers on the Talk page, I think it needs your involvement as well. Francis can't be left isolated, especially not while he is getting reverted right on the talk page. And especially not when he is getting threatened (such as here [17]). This is the second attempt to push out a moderator from the talk page, and that can't be tolerated. Thank you. -- TigranTheGreat 06:02, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Your arguments and rationalizations are very weak. The rule where a person cannot add a link to his own site is totally unenforceable. Anyone can login as anonymous and add a link to his/her site. What are you doing about those links? How do you know if the person is or is not the owner of the external link's Web site? I have never tried to deny nor hide that it is my site.
If making money from my site means having a few Google ads which yield only a few dollars per month, then what about all those links to much more commercial sites? Corporate sites, official local government sites which include ads for local businesses, etc., etc. Are you gonna delete those links too? They are all making money from their sites. And much more than I do.
As for having my links on 50 pages, it goes to show how much content my site has for Japan. The vast majority of Japan-related articles are stubs, and viewers will never get much info out of them. My links lead to more pictures and information which Wikipedia will never be able to achieve for those stubs. Photojpn.org 06:23, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Both your contributions and, most important your warm way to deal with others made me notice you long, long ago; and being supported by a person I look up to, like you, meant the world to me. I sincerely hope this is but the beginning of a friendship, and such thought fills me with joy. Hey Golpez. I was reading your talk page and saw that someone else asked you about locator dots and you seem pretty adept at mapping so... A few nights ago, I created French language pages for Fundy National Park ([ [19]] ici) and Kouchibouguac National Park ([ [20]] ici) using French language templates of the IUCN (UICN) protected areas. On both of the English pages, the dots look like they are in the correct spot, but for the French language articles, the longitude is way off. I wrote a question on the French bistro ([ [21]] ici) to get help, but so far have had no response. Can you help me out or point me in the direction of help/someone who can help? Merci in advance. Hi. I just wanted to say I feel bad about this, as I had to some extent mentored this guy since I gave him a vandal warning a few weeks ago, which was as thoroughly well-merited as your block is. Although I did recently warn him about his conduct on User:Tom Harrison's talk page, I should maybe have been even more forceful. I did have concerns about his POV, and should have warned him about that. I hope he will learn from this experience and I thank you for doing what you did. 48 hours seems like reasonable reflection time for him. Best wishes -- Guinnog 13:21, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

You'll notice it's deliberately left out of PTS timelines for a reason. Unless an official landfall is announced by an NMHS, we usually ignore it due to the many small Pacific islands. A 300-mile diametre storm like Ioke will "brush" (to take a term from 2004 AHS) small islands, and perhaps even at the same time. Does this mean you want to include all of that? – Ch acor 11:05, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words, Golbez. Don't worry, I've never taken Wikipedia seriously enough to quit in a pouty huff of frustration or disappointment. It's just that articles like those have prompted me to realize that a lot needs to be done before Wikipedia is worth any more of the small amount of time that I put into it while procrastinating at work or at school. I also think that the RfA process and the anonymity of the individual members lead to unrivaled pettiness. The RfA process tends to attract the most process-oriented and mediocre populists, whereas anonymity allows for a lot of gaming of the system and rudeness. Focusing on process is not a bad thing, but it creeps me out to hear some admins speak of "The Project," and act like the worst of trolls as they wikilawyer around various policies and guidelines so as to boost their own egoes, or whatever. Disagreement is met with platitudes and condescension. Let's be honest: some of the most involved people, here, are quite anti-social. This is an escape for them; they're just avatars. It's a substitute for actual human interaction (which, I wager, they have failed to grasp the basics of). I'm not taking cheap pot-shots at the Internet geek stereotype, either -- that's really how it seems. It's not exactly my cup of tea.
I'm sure we'll bump into each other again online. Until then, best of luck! -- AaronS 18:43, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Apparently, i am the editor who editted the common languages in Turkey [24], though not the one who inserted 'Common languages' in the template. It was added on many counties' articles and i found it pretty interesting to list which these languages are. I'd also done it in Greece's article [25], in case u think i had "other" intentions... However, if all agreed to include these languages in the template, i doubt if the languages i added wouldn't be mentioned. Regards -- Hectorian 01:40, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi again Golbez,
Thought I'd sound you out before going any further: Are you a fan of either of the above descriptions (as in the former
Autonomous entity or
Category:Lists of subnational entities, etc)...? Per
my rationale for moving
Autonomous entity to
Autonomous area, it seems to me that neither imply that it is a region or area that is being addressed; a human being might be described as an "autonomous entity", a local company as a "subnational entity", etc. If "autonomous area" an improvement for the former, how about "subnational division" (or, perhaps more accurately, "national/subnational administrative division") for the latter...?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
David Kernow
06:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
...PS Have just remembered that "subnational entity" used for disambiguation, so perhaps "subnational division" instead...

A minor nitpick on the territorial evolution of the U.S. maps - North Carolina didn't cede what is now Tennessee until 1790, so on the 1789 maps it should still be part of NC. Kmusser 14:49, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
For the state cessions map I was having a hard time figuring out a good way to show the NY and VA cessions, they overlap with each other and the cessions of other states - I may experiment a bit more with it. Also planning on tackling the individual colony maps soon.
On the territorial evolution maps - on northern MN, I was under the impression that the border between Lake of the Woods and Lake Superior wasn't disputed, folks just weren't sure where it was until that region actually got explored - I haven't done any research on it though so I may be wrong - at any rate though that border was resolved by the 1818 treaty, not the 1842 one, so you are showing it as disputed for too long. Oregon is probably fine as it is, if you wanted to be more exact you could say claimed by Britain, Spain, and Russia adding a U.S. claim with the LA purchase. Spain and Russia never really pursued their claims to the area though and formally gave up their claims in 1821 and 1825 respectively. Kmusser 04:59, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Pacific Dove is not a neologism. Zenaida asiatica is called a White-winged Dove in North America, and Z. meloda is called Pacific Dove in South America. Treating both as one, as the article on White Winged Doves does, is downright wrong (see Wikispecies, http://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Zenaida_meloda). In fact, information on cooing in the White-winged Dove article is especially wrong -- one of the differences cited as grounds for the split is the radical difference in cooing melody between Z. meloda and Z. asiatica. Also, there is a corresponding Spanish article on Z. meloda.
At most, you should have questioned my use of Pacific Dove as opposed to Peruvian Dove or whatever ohter nomenclature you prefer; but deleting it off the bat is very disrespectful. -- Rcgy 18:53, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

In any case, many countries have started monitoring the online activities of their citizens, and to support terrorists would be pretty incriminating, even if these people aren't really connected with Jihadist outfits. I just meant to warn them and stop them from needlessly hurting American sentiments by trying to justify terrorist attacks. Sorry if I did something wrong. Sorry about all that. I have learned and will apply the wisdom next time! The edits are now correcting to the proper and official naming convention as per the Italian government and many sources listed in the talk pages. The referencing also includes the alternate names as per wiki rules (i.e. Bolzano (Bozen)). Sorry about all that!!!! Rarelibra 20:49, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
I seriously need your help and any other admin that will see through this nonsense. We are making edits to correct a situation regarding incorrect naming convention. The article used to be named correctly and a year ago, it was changed to a biased POV name that doesn't even exist in any proper or official lists as per the Italian government, United Nations, etc. There are countless references we have posted as to the proper name ("Trentino-Alto Adige") and alternate name ("Sudtirol") - whereas NOWHERE does the name "South Tyrol" exist. These pages were being changed back to the correct name, now I am being targeted by admins and they are reverting such changes. Can you help intervene? Thank you. Rarelibra 02:04, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

As I understand the 9/11 subcat. of the art. on the US to likely be a controversial one, let me first say that any preconceived notion of yours as to who I am, and what my incentive was for editing the section, might be reasonably based on past experiences with ulterior motives. That being said, I genuinely wanted to insert two bits of, IMHO, significant info: the mention of The Pentagon(<|===CAPITALIZED) having been attacked on 9/11(since the subcat. is dedicated to the events and reprocussions of that day), and the mention of the fact that the war in Afghanistan is still an ongoing event. If any of this is POV, please let me know (based upon your edit summary on the page, I will be anticipating some mild condescension). Thank you. -- Jackbirdsong 20:26, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

I'd like to commend your dealings with ITN on the main page. I've noticed more than a few instances where you seem to be the only person dealing with queries, and handling them well. I think you are really holding to what ITN is; a place to show off where we have Wikipedia articles that have been updated with current events - not a news ticker. To be honest, it would probably avoid confusion if the section were renamed altogether. People seem to assume it should be just today's news or the absolute top 5 most important stories in the world. They don't seem to appreciate why the mix there seems haphazard sometimes. That said, I'm all for positive discrimination when the mix of articles is determined by an Anglo-centric editing base.
Sorry to say I am not likely to get more involved myself; I just don't have the time (or rather, when I do my interests are elsewhere). I suspect this is the reason there aren't more admins updating the template.

I have been making some edits to Tamilnet which have been repeteadly reverted with POV and propaganda from the ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka without any qualifications of the text by user User:Snowolfd4. I have added a huge list of justifications for my changes. But this user has never bothered to answer them and gone ahead given very terse statements for his reverts. I have in turn added citations from a reputable source, namely a journal article on Tamilnet.com by Whitaker, Mark P. "Tamilnet.com: Some Reflections on Popular Anthropology, Nationalism, and the Internet" Anthropological Quarterly - Volume 77, Number 3, Summer 2004, pp. 469-498 George Washington University Institute for Ethnographic Research. He has just reverted my citations claiming in effect that this peer-reviewed journal article is the following:
According to Official WP policy
Personal websites, blogs, and other self-published or vanity publications should not be used as secondary sources. That is, they should not be used as sources of information about a person or topic other than the owner of the website, or author of the book. The reason personal websites are not used as secondary sources — and as primary sources only with great caution and not as a sole source if the subject is controversial — is that they are usually created by unknown individuals who have no one checking their work. They may be uninformed, misled, pushing an agenda, sloppy, relying on rumor and suspicion, or even insane; or they may be intelligent, careful people sharing their knowledge with the world. Only with independent verification by other sources not holding the same POV is it possible to determine the difference.
I desperately need administrator intervention on this. This is getting to be very frustrating when a user claims that a peer-reviewed journal article is an unreliable source and then goes ahead and blanks legitimate cited contents.
This user has been doing a whole lot of blanking of my edits both on Tamilnet and a whole lot of other pages. Elalan 03:28, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, saw your recent change to the Hitler page. I've worked on a number of the segments in Nazi-era-related pages that contain information about the genocide figures. I just wonder though if we're not ending up with pages that are "over-neutralised" - to my mind, the AH page intro now reads almost as if the Fuhrer just did some economic fixing, murdered a few million jews and other people - and that's it. Hi Golbez and many tanks for the compliments. Its nice to know that my work has inspired someone. I used Illustrator for the map. I tried my hand at inkscape and found it a little cumbersome, but its prolly developed now. But i do recommend using illustrator or corel draw, if you want to work really fast, especially for huge networks like that for the US. You do have the advantage that maps are readily available for tracing, unlike for India where i had to use a little close to a gazillion sources and put it all together like a giant hair-tearing jigsaw. Its not the perfect way to spend your free time, but the end result is well worth it. All the best to ya and drop me a line if you get into a tight spot. cheers -- PlaneMad| YakYak 18:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Fantastic Job Golbez!! Regarding your query, its really simple. Just follow these steps:
What this does is treat all the roads as a single object and apply the stroke, not individually as is the case now, where one highway overlaps another. And any line you draw in this layer automatically inherits the stroke, no need to select it seperately.
If this doesnt work, the individual styles may be conflicting with the layer style, to fix this click to the right of the layer target icon, which selects the contents of the layer, and then clear the stroke. Happy insane mapping--

I wandered into the discussion debate on Afghanistan through a strange, circuitous route. It started with Luna Santins talk page (posting a response) to KB Botany's talk page, and then the Afghanistan talk page itself. Botany just really sounded hapless and beleagured, which is why I followed the trail in the first place.
I've spent the last two hours reading the Afghanistan talk page (well, most of it). It gets EXTREMELY technical, but based on what I read, I urge you to reconsider your indefinite block on NiserKand. He has some mistaken beliefs, but and he has made more than a few inflammatory remarks, but he has also contributed positively to other articles (if his user talk page is any indication), and it appears that the net effect of his efforts has been to actually make the Afghanistan article more neutral. At least that is the opinion of a few of the editors on the Afghanistan talk page.
I would also like to point out that Tajik made the first accusation of racism against NiserKand. I don't know how to copy a diff, nor do I believe I could find it in the history, but I could point out the general area on the talk page if you asked me.
I think if he were strongly disabused of the notion that his self-stated "expert" knowledge made him more qualified to edit than other people who are willing to read, discuss, and collaborate, he could be a very helpful editor.
Up until tonight, I had little interest in Afghanistan and knew next to nothing of the subject. In other words, I have no dog in this race. I just felt it necessary to bring this up in the interest of fairness
If you would like to respond me, please use my user talk page.

I understand your position. I don't believe NisarKand has an email address attached to his account, but I also hadn't confirmed my own email at that point so I will try again.
One thing that is important to point out (as I learned from the talk on Afghanistan) is that "Aryan", doesn't mean the same thing in Afghanistan as it does, say, to the Aryan Nation. Arya or Aria was an ancient name for that entire region. The "rats" comment was way out of line, but it came after a lengthy, bitter debate and in my opinion was designed to specifically piss Tajik off. In the mean time, Tajik constantly called NisarKand racist in response to nearly everything NisarKand said. It's all over the talk page.
From what I understand, there are some serious human rights violations currently going on against the Pashtuns (that's what NisarKand is). While it's been alluded on the talk page, I don't know anything further. I think this makes the whole thing particularly sensitive to NisarKand, as well as Tajik.
Ironically, on the very same talk (one would need to scroll WAY up) is a fantastic, easy-to-understand, and compassionate summary of the dilemma. I'll edit it down to the most salient points, but it's still a bit long. Forgive me, and I appreciate your patience in advance (italics are mine for emphasis):
"Afghanistan has hardly ever been a single country. It does not even completely represent a people as such, since the Pashtuns are almost evenly split between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Tajiks between Tajikistan and Afghanistan and Uzbeks with Uzbekistan. A census has never been taken, and various pieces of land has belonged to different people. In addition, almost no one can be considered indigenous of the land, due to non-stop invasions throughout the history...
Afghanistan for most of its history has been a collection of loosely-connected tribes, most of which lived quite autonomously...Afghanistan could never be seen simply as a 'nation' or country of a 'people'. The name 'Afghanistan' was coined by a Pashtun at a time when many other ethnic groups lived autonomously within the region...
...The demographics and history of Afghanistan are therefore highly disputed. Percentages of population are very frequently overstated, each ethnic group claiming 80% of the population is not uncommon. The population also fluctuates with the movements of the large number of refugees...
While the history of smaller ethnic and religious groups are lost, historians in Iran, Turkey, Pakistan etc constantly view Afghanistan as a part of greater 'Turkistan', 'greater Persia' and so on. This makes the history of the country highly biased and unreliable, and it should be viewed as such...
On the other hand, the various peoples secured their own history better, the history of Pashtuns are best read from a Pashtun perspective, Hazaras from Hazara perspective, Tajiks from Tajik perspective, and always with a grain of salt.
This makes the history very interesting, but very difficult to dig up."
So what's to be done? KP Botany often criticized both parties (in an amazingly neutral, constructive way), but was ultimately of the opinion (along with a couple of other people) that the article as it stood was too biased towards the Tajik POV, and that NisarKand's contributions were welcome and important (though his "welcome" contributions usually had to be sifted through loads of overwhelmingly contested stuff).
I realize this is WAY more information than you ever wanted on the situation, and I promise this will be by far my lengthiest post to you. I just felt a little bit more background was necessary (and we all learned a little!).
In any event, I realize your very busy actually being productive here, so... NinaEliza 05:02, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
THAT comment I never saw. I will say however, that when NisarKand first came on the the Afghanistan talk page he was civil and apologetic for making a crapload of undiscussed edits (which as you know a lot of new users do). I actually don't think he'll be back, but you never know. Anyway, thank you - that was a generous thing to do. I was more concerned about KP botany anyway. He is an active and prolific editor that got caught in the middle of a bitter and contentious battle, and he has gotten nothing but crap for it. I honestly think he's on the verge of splitting, which would be tragic. Hopefully, this gesture will cheer him up. Best Wishes and thanks again, NinaEliza 07:07, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

On Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2006/Summary table, I added a column "Examples" with links that exhibit a candidate's arbitration skills. My motivation is that as a voter, I don't want to just rely on a candidate's words, but also see their actions. Moreover, I believe a portfolio of "model cases" to remember in difficult situations can be useful for each candidate, as well.
So far I have entered examples for the candidates who registered first (from their questions page), and I'm not sure if and when I will get to yours, so you may want to enter an example or two yourself. — Sebastian (talk) 05:29, 4 December 2006 (UTC) (I may not be watching this page anymore. I'll be honest -- there was nothing particularly striking in your history, but you support Kelly Martin for ArbCom. In my view, this is an automatic disqualifier for any candidate, because either 1) you haven't been paying attention to the wiki much; 2) your ability to judge other people's interactions is gravely flawed and/or 3) you must support some truly horrendous wiki-policy positions.
It may not normally be considered ethical to oppose someone based on whom he supports; but, as Geogre rightly points out, Ms. Martin is an extraordinary case. It was Jimbo who recommended open voting, and I have the right to act on the basis of information attained therefrom, especially in a case where I do feel the evidence indicates a severe problem. Hi! In Districts of Israel, you offered to modify your Map of the districts of Israel over two weeks ago (on the 12th) to help reach consensus. People over there are getting antsy about the whole issue.
If you're busy, but do intend to do this “real soon now”, could you please post an update about your intentions at Talk:Districts of Israel#Map Edit War, so people will know that they should wait for you?
If, OTOH, you don't intend to deal with this, we'd also appreciate being told about that.

Who are you to decide what links are appropriate and not? Large businesses only deserve a listing? That is crazy! There were a lot of appropriate links that were removed by somebody else. Why you choose to support them is beyond me. I know how to change my IP address btw.. it's real easy to do with RR. I can get behind a proxy if need be. These are all appropriate links to things in Charlotte. I.E> the charlotte nightlife site. There really isn't a huge entry on the nightlife scene, therefore an external link is appropriate. Why you think that is inappropriate and a link ot The Charlotte Observer is apporpriate shows you don't know anything about Charlotte. Golbez, the page is about NK, not about just NKAO, and even as it is, before my edits, it cites a lot of pre-NKAO and post-NKAO events. Thus, statistics on population before 1923 must be there, and should not be removed. Thank you for upholding this. -- AdilBaguirov 20:00, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi Golbez, regarding your revert on the population, this was long discussed previously and Adil know he is manipulating the sources. The materials showing Armenians as minority relate to Karabakh, which is not NK, Armenians have always been concentrated on its mountainous region(which is NK), the rest is already part of Azerbaijan and undisputed. Here, you cite a Wikipedia article, Saxon genitive, in support of your reversion of my alteration to complex's. I think there's ample evidence in meta, that wikipedians should not cite unreferenced assertions in one WP article as an authoritative "source" for assertions in other WP articles. So, instead of making uncited arguments about the incorrect assertion made in the Saxon genitive article (to wit, it states there that "[m]any English writers have adopted the nonstandard usage (even in formal writing) of adding only an apostrophe for the singular possessive of a noun ending in "s"."), I found a source. Golbez, perhaps the abolishion of the NK status is not too important in the intro paragraph, but the page otherwise does mix it up in the DIVISION part: "Following the declaration of NKR's independence, the Azerbaijani government passed a decision to abolish NKAO and create Azerbaijani rayons in its place." Dear,
Start the space race, bring the concern, was the result of the sputnick launch. Please refer to space race This in not meant to be some kind of demerit or aggression to the US. It's just a fact. Nasa came from the concern the lauch created ! As it is a fact that the soviets just did this because their atomic warheads where worse, and therefore, they used more powerful rockets. Or that the US got far more tech from the space race than the USSR.
As far as the spelling is concerned, I am sure you could have been more kind. Please, if you could use some more politeness in subsequent posts, I am sure the discussion will be more productive
best regards
Cold Light 00:38, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
I did not mean to be POV (so-called refered to the "space race", what POV do you reckon it was promoting ?) anyways, I thought it could be a good way to underline the fact that the cold war stimulated technology in the US. More as an example.
however:
"achieved successes in space science and technology, leading to a space race"
does mean that the US gave the first steps in the space race, right ?
If it does, well, as I said before, that is not a fact.
We could omit who started it, or state it was the USSR. I think the second one brings more clarity to the dinamics of the cold war. It can even be underlined that the US got much more tech from it that the soviets. Please, if you could sugest an non-POV way to include that information on the article, I'd be glad to contribute as I can

I am just bothered a little bit that this has become somehow an ethnic war and that Grandmaster hit on every Armenian users he could, I had decided at first to concentrate on Adil and the two peatpuppets of his, but Grandmaster doesn't understand that by defending Adil he is harming himself, there is no question now, unfortunitly that I have to defende myself and include Grandmaster cooperating with a member who will possibly be blocked indefinitly from English Wikipedia unless you could convince him to concentrate on those who have done things which he hasn't done and drop all those insignificancies by some not so actif members and I'll try to do the same with some Armenian members who are thinking like Grandmaster there. There is no point in trying to get "sentenced" every Armenian and Azeri users when without Adil and his two meatpuppets action and reaction this cases would have never been submitted to the Arbitration committee and that had any of us (Armenian or Azeri) submitted it, it would have been rejected. Tel me what you think, because believe me I have incriminating materials against Grandmaster, but after all this cases is done, we need an Azeri member who is active in those topics, to debate with. -- theDúnadan 17:20, 17 March 2007 (UTC)-
There is no dispute in the ranking with China in land area. Both the US and China recognize China as having the larger land area. The dispute is only over total area, which includes bodies of water, because the US has many more lakes than China. I have included a reference as well. What's your justification for reverting? Penser 09:09, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Penser
Thanks, Golbez. I appreciate your conscientiousness. Penser 09:17, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Penser
(from your post on User talk:Penser) Actually, from the lengthy discussions on List of countries by area, the discrepancy is because of two issues: 1. the USA has changed its method of calculating water areas in recent years, thereby increasing its size, which some international organisations/sources have not caught onto/recognised, and 2. the inclusion in the PRC figure of territories administered by China but claimed by India.
Even using new figures for the USA ("overseas territories" excluded), and even excluding Taiwan and associated islands, including the Indian-claimed areas puts China at 3rd, while excluding them puts China at 4th. See, for example, the figures currently listed at List of countries by area, both of which exclude Taiwan and other ROC-administered islands.
In its official stats, the PRC is usually ambiguous (preferring figures like "9.6 million square km" rather than an exact figure), probably because it knows including Taiwan is contrary to reality, yet excluding Taiwan is contrary to its own state policies. -- Sumple ( Talk) 10:51, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

By the way regarding this line on the article, "officially part of the Republic of Azerbaijan", that sounds like POV pushing since the status of Karabakh is not yet determined, since its under Armenian control, backed by historical claims, if we add that than there should be a sentence right after it saying currently under Armenian control in the intro or else its misleading into thinking Azerbaijan owns it when it does not, it is where Armenians live, it is where they pay millions to restore schools, churches, houses etc, where they would never do they have nothing to it, only poor historians like Mamedova claiming Armenians came from Mars or somewhere, its a good time to start propaganda in there country since there still shaking from the 92 war. I came across the Image:United States 1789-03-1789-08.png series at the end of last year an was impressed by it. I tried to find it again today and for about 30 minutes was unable to. I basically searched around the theme "Historical maps of the United States". There I found many maps and many categories, but none that were the series I was seeking. Since one of the maps listed in there had the same blank, I followed it to "User:Golbez" and found a reference to the series on the page by jengod. Is it me, or is this series separated off somehow from all the other US maps? Can it be made more prominent in the category listings? -- SGBailey 23:26, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Remember him?? Well, he's the guy who got me into Wikipedia. He recruited me as a meatpuppet to vote in the "Votes for Deletion" (as it was back then), and taught me everything I needed to know about Wikipedia (in the days before semi-protection and cascading protection, remember them??). However, instead of trying to vandalise, I just reported his "Cornchips" sockpuppets that he used to edit the Wayne Rooney page when I created a user account - my original account was User:Bourne End (dammit, I lost the password to that one!).
I was accused of being a sockpuppet in my RFA, if you wish to admin coach me that would be helpful. I'm technically not a sockpuppet, but not a new user either.... confusing eh?? But now I've explained my history!

Why did you unblock jamdonut? This person does a lot of blatant vandalism page moves (switching Evil and Religion, switching Jesus and Muhammed), and has been doing it for a while, despite several warnings. This user was previously blocked but unblocked for unknown reasons by Yamla. Yamla also helped jamdonut delete his user page talk history (also for reasons unknown), probably hiding a long history of warnings, and maybe even more previous blocks and unblocks. Fredwerner 19:16, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Yamla UNblocked jamdonut on March 27. Someone else had to block him earlier for him to need Yamla to unblock him. Fredwerner 04:08, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Congressman Paul said: "Well, that would be nice to have. Unfortunately, we don't have that in place. It will be a little bit better now with the Democrats now in charge of oversight. But you know, for top level policy there's not a whole lot of difference between the two policies so a real investigation isn't going to happen. But I think we have to keep pushing for it. And like you and others, we see the investigations that have been done so far as more or less cover-up and no real explanation of what went on."; so you see, he does acknowledge cover-up (conspiracy if you wish)… imo that template should be named properly, feel free to join the discussion. Hi Golbez, can you block 75.19.155.147? That IP address is apparently a school in Eudora, Kansas, and they've done nothing but vandalism for months. Not that kids would check their IP address's talk page, but multiple warnings were posted including 3 "last warnings", but were never blocked, and someone from there just did it again, vandalizing Paul Rusesabagina. Hi Golbez. I don’t think that you should have reverted Ganja. First of all, the section that you restored was created by User:Pulu-Pughi, a sock of banned user, [40] and banned users are not entitled to edit Wikipedia articles. Their edits should be reverted regardless of their quality, see WP:BAN#Enforcement_by_reverting_edits. Second, the info that the sock added is inaccurate, please see talk of the article for more details. The sources make perfectly clear that the city was founded by Arabs, while the text that you restored tries to create a different impression. If an edit cites some sources, it does not mean that they are used accurately and not distorted, and it is not a reason to restore them. I’ve been asking for quotes from the sources used for quite some time, and finally had to search for them myself. As I expected, they say something different to what is ascribed to them. Regards, Grandmaster 11:36, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
I never said they were unsourced, I said that the info was added by a sock account and the sources were not quoted on talk despite my numerous requests. Examination of sources shows that they were misquoted. Please see talk and my comment. Grandmaster 11:43, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree, the edit summaries should provide accurate info. But as you correctly noted I'm not responsible for that summary. Thanks for rolling it back, I don't mind adding any info as long as it is properly sourced and accurate. Grandmaster 11:50, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

I was born and raised in a large city and I moved to Charlotte due in large part based on what the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce described Charlotte to be: "world class city". I have been here for 3 years and it has been a disappointment. I RESPECT people who do love Charlotte; I came to Charlotte with certain expectations based on cities I have lived in my life (all of them in the North). In the North, all cities share many similar traits such as ethnic neighborhoods, professional baseball, public train systems, world class museums, etc. The only difference among these cities are size. So when I came to Charlotte, I thought Charlotte would be a smaller city but have all of these things. I understand it is a perspective thing: if someone came from a smaller town then Charlotte is a world class city; but if someone came from a larger city then Charlotte is almost like a suburb. Again, I RESPECT people who do like Charlotte and believe it is a world-class city BUT I do want people to acknowledge and respect that the feelings of others may be different especially if others came from a larger city and are expecting certain traits of those cities to be in Charlotte. Thank you.

Recently I've been working with several articles related to Andorra and I found your message on the note page of アンドラ. I'd like to use the map you have created, Image:Andorra parishes japanese.png, but it needs a small modification from ヴェ to ベ in order to adjust it to the articles. Because we write not アンドラ・ラ・ヴェリャ but アンドラ・ラ・ベリャ at Japanese Wikipedia in order to write Andorra la Vella in Japanese.
I can modify it by myself, but I wanted to know whether it is all right or not, and wanted to say thank you for creating the map as well.-- HannaLi 17:56, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
One quite simple way to look at it: no {{ ongoing weather}} or {{ current}} tag on the main page means it's not a current event, hence not current-class. Current-class is really meant for current events, which the AHS is not until June 1. – Chacor 12:44, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Golbez, first I would like to thank [41] DmcDevit for running the checkuser and clearing my name of this groundless charge. I discuss all my edits and make them on all pages. So very likely that Drastamat was established by one of those accusing me. What's appaling though is your accusation of myself. Don't you think your position as a perceived mediator on Nagorno-Karabakh page becomes seriously questionnable provided your presumptive assumptions with regards to myself? I mean a mediator by definition must be impartial after all. If you think otherwise, why don't you initiate a little checkuser to ever check that it could be Artaxiad, Fadix or one of the banned or existing users of the "other side", which is trying to blackmail and get me banned. I am not alleging Racism, and neither is "common sense." If you read the sourced 1996 article, you would see that one of his political opponents along with the author of the article/editorial alleged it. I have been editing wikipedia long enough that I know simple rules like no original research, adding sources to my additions, importance, verifying my sources (especially for a biography of a living person), etc. I followed all these rules in adding the racism section, but a long line of Ron Paul supporters have been removing it to the point that I feel like I have to police the section to ensure the article remains NPOV. The general consensus of regular editors on the talk page seems to be that there is nothing wrong with the section as a whole. Please, before removing it again, read the entire 1996 article and discuss what you think is wrong with it on the talk page. Rm999 14:13, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Golbez - I've been a longtime editor of the New York City article and am pleased to see it's received FA status. Nevertheless it's accumulated a lot of bloat along the way. You mention in your edit that the "FAC page" seems to prefer the longer version. I can't find this page and would much appreciate if you could direct me to it. The main talk page doesn't include such a discussion. Below are examples of the bloat excised by my editing. All the material is covered elsewhere in the article and in language that is not so informal and subjective.
"The city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world, including the Empire State Building and the former twin towers of the World Trade Center." [This shouldn't be in the intro]
"From its beginnings on Manhattan Island, the city spread onto nearby Staten Island, western Long Island, and mainland North America. The mainland and many islands of New York are linked by a network of bridges and tunnels, including the Brooklyn Bridge and Holland Tunnel." [The details of bridges and tunnels are covered in the transport section]
"The city was founded as the colony of New Amsterdam by Dutch colonists in the early 17th century, being ceded as part of the Province of New York to the English in 1664. The five boroughs were consolidated into one city in 1898. It has been central to the development of the United States, serving as the nation's first capital city in 1789, and has had a large influence in American media, finance, and politics. It is the site of some of the country's largest celebrations in size, including ticker-tape parades for returning astronauts and the celebrations in Times Square of the end of World War II, but has also seen tragic times, such as the September 11, 2001 attacks." [This is all covered in the history section, which immediately follows the intro. The final sentence is stylistically inelegant.]

What suggestions do you have for further improving the list? I thought about adding a "Higher offices held" column. Acdixon 14:32, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure the "as of" date on "Living former governors" is encyclopedic. Most encyclopedias are understood to contain information current as of the date of their publication. I know Wikipedia is different since it doesn't have a publication date, but something about it still doesn't seem right. Could we just remove it with the understanding that someone in WikiProject Kentucky will update the list when one of them dies? Acdixon 14:57, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

That was not intended to be spam at all.
We've spent two years developing a web site that shows historic storms (back to 1851) in a completely unique way - including the observed or estimated windfield by quadrant. In addition, we we've generated statistsics on the relative severity of storms based on the number or towns exposed to hurricane force winds along with pop and households (using the 2000 census); in addition, for storms that hit Florida, we calculated the number, type and location and value of properties theoretically exposed to hurricane force winds winds (using the 2006 statewide property rolls as a benchmark.) All this data is updated on the fly when there is an active storms forecast to hit the US.
And there is much more to the web site, including a live news feed, near real-time weather data and NWS alerts and a damage reporting system that is utterly unique.
Of course, we are a commercial site, but we're part of the NY Times newspaper chain and we developed this application on the news side. Our intention all along was to create a hurricane resource that is live, dynamic and well informed.
There are are other links on hurricane pages that are repeated and clearly don't offer the depth and context of IBISEYE.
Please reconsider removing our link.
Cheers, Mo user: motamman
Please note that you have reverted the same material in
United States three times in a span of less than twenty-one hours:
[42],
[43], and
[44]. You are in danger of violating
WP:3RR and are clearly engaged in a single-issue edit war for obscure reasons. As you must know, your advocacy in Talk has fallen far short of achieving a consensus for removal of this material; you have failed to address the specific responses made to your arguments--that there are "extensive articles" on the war (though there are also extensive articles on dozens of other topics covered in the article) and that the costs of other wars aren't mentioned (though, unlike this war, those others are not current); and, while you accuse others of dishonesty in their edit summaries, you wrote an explicitly false edit summary when you claimed that a "daily toll" was being made, rather than a periodical weekly, biweekly, or monthly update, as is done with all of the data in the article of a current nature per our sources. You are clearly a responsible and highly productive editor on other articles; your behavior in this matter is inexplicable and unworthy of your overall contribution to the encyclopedia.—

Since you have closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Companies in Bangladesh, I can only turn to you to find out. How do put that discussion for a DRV? The discussion page there seems to be for undeletion of articles, not renewed discussion for a huge list of bundled articles. Besides, I'd like have a review of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Greek companies and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Japanese companies, too. Please, help. And, if possible, leave note to my talk page. Cheers. Aditya Kabir 12:44, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Let me clear one thing very clearly - I am not disputing your decision. I am looking for help, not justification of you decision. Since I have never been to a DRV, and you suggested that it should be taken to a DRV, I thought I should turn to you for help. You see, I really believe that process is important.
I guess I didn't formed the questions right for you to understand. Therefore, I am asking again:
I hope I have asked the right questions this time. Please, leave a note to my talk page. Aditya Kabir 04:50, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
I know there was error on my side. I know you are perfect in following the process, and did exactly what needed to be done. I am not challenging anyone here. I am rather following your suggestion - "The result was Speedy close; take it to DRV." I am trying to take it to DRV, and in a meaningful way, following the process as much possible. And, that is why I am asking you this questions. If you don't have an answer, please, tell me if you know someone who has. Wikipedia for me isn't a game of challenges, but rather is place where we should help out each other and reaching consensus. I am asking for "help". And, if I can't seek help from an admin, I don't know who I can turn to. Please, respond. Aditya Kabir 07:41, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Golbez. I see you've been commenting here about the case of Jamiepgs ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). Although you haven't complained about my unblocking, I just want to apologise for not notifying you personally. I rushed out shortly after the unblock, and didn't return home for several hours. Sophia, whom I've encountered before, and whom I consider a responsible user, had done a Google search for some of Jamiepgs's strange facts, and thought that this was not a clear case of vandalism. If you had blocked for sockpuppetry or harassment, I wouldn't have undone your block without discussing it with you first, as I'd know that you might be aware of facts that I didn't know about. In the case of a user adding "strange" facts to some articles, I thought the risk was minimal, and I felt that others would be watching out for his contributions. I hope everything will work out.
