Hello, happy new year and welcome to the 2011 WikiCup! Your submissions' page can be found here and instructions of how to update the page can be found here and on the submissions' page itself. From the submissions' page, a bot will update the main scoresheet. Our rules have been very slightly updated from last year; the full rules can be found here. Please remember that you can only receive points for content on which you have done significant work in 2011; nominations of work from last year and "drive-by" nominations will not be awarded points. Signups are going to remain open through January, so if you know of anyone who would like to take part, please direct them to Wikipedia:WikiCup/2011 signups. The judges can be contacted on the WikiCup talk page, on their respective talk pages, or by email. Other than that, we will be in contact at the end of every month with the newsletter. If you want to stop or start receiving newsletters, please remove your name from or add your name to this list. Good luck! J Milburn and The ed17 12:57, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi, the talk pages were not moved with the article itself, could you please have a look at that? Thanks! -- Crusio ( talk) 04:17, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
My aim was subtle humour, not disruption. If you found it to be a "violation", then you have my apologies. KimChee ( talk) 01:53, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Gordon Brown's favourite cookie. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Thryduulf ( talk) 23:26, 4 January 2011 (UTC) ps: Thank you for the oh so necessary swearing on my talk page. Thryduulf ( talk) 23:26, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I have posted some additional comments, but it appears you are wrong on this [ [1]] (he broke edit restrictions), since there was no active restriction against him the time he got blocked [ [2]]. Alexikoua ( talk) 17:01, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
You mean user:Zjarrirethoues? I noticed that he is the nemesis of CrazyMartini, considering his activity the last months in irc. Alexikoua ( talk) 17:10, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
My point is that what you wrote in ani 'for someone else' is wrong and I guessed that it was a product of irc misinformation by user:Zjarrirehtues. Alexikoua ( talk) 17:19, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for dealing with this. I've taken the liberty of clearing an autoblock that seemed to be still around. Cheers, -- Fut.Perf. ☼ 18:30, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

![]() | On 14 January 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Baths (musician), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Baths' debut album, Cerulean, though recorded in his bedroom in two months, was acknowledged by "album of the year" lists? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

I have nominated Bloc Party discography for featured list removal here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured list criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks; editors may declare to "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here.-- ♫Greatorangepumpkin♫ T 15:43, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I can end the nomination when I see fit, especially if it's a speedy keep. So let's try to relax. Thanks for making the fixes Fox, I would agree that FLRC in this case seems to have been a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. The Rambling Man ( talk) 16:34, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
I have noticed some of your move-article edits. Awhile ago, I moved this magazine to its current title. I am wondering if this is too long for Wikipedia. If you think a shorter title is best, or if the former, shorter, title is better, then please feel free to do a move-article edit for this one as well. ---- Steve Quinn ( talk) 23:50, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
![]() | On 15 January 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article James Blake (album), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that despite releasing three EPs in less than a year, most of the material on dubstep producer James Blake's self-titled debut album is brand new? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

..That was a bit rubbish. Anyway. I've only just noticed this, I'm going to give you a hand with it as soon as I've got a couple of other stuff out of the way. -- SteelersFanUK06 AFCNorth2k10 04:22, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
You might want to change the block on that account to block evasion/sockpuppetry; see User:Access Denied. Ks0stm If you reply here, please leave me a {{ Talkback}} message on my talk page. 15:34, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
I'm about to suggest a major re-write of the extract due to go on TFA Main Page tomorrow at WP:ERRORS. Can you have a quick look and see whether you agree that it is a grammatical and stylistic nightmare. I would tell some of the more able 11 year olds that I teach that they ought to be able to be clearer than this: how did it get through FA? Any thoughts? Civility Award | |
For handling a very dificult IRC user while two other conversations were going on, I award Fox the Barnstar of Civility. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 03:48, 27 January 2011 (UTC) |
Hey Fox, I know you must be a pretty busy vulpine dude, but just a quick note to say there are a couple of comments at the Bloc Party discog FLRC that are outstanding. While it seemed a duff nomination in the first place, it's now been sort-of comprehensively re-reviewed so there are still some things that need addressing, if you're still interested? All the best, and my compliments on having the best user page I've ever seen in my 5.7 years on Wikipedia. The Rambling Man ( talk) 18:08, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
As a contributor to this MFD back in 2009 (resulting in keep), you may be interested to know this page has been renominated for deletion. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Lady Aleena/Television/Crossovers (2nd nomination). Robofish ( talk) 18:54, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Can you undelete Birth (Index Case album). It was mistakenly tagged as CSD:A9 but is not eligible for that as there is a page on the artist at Index Case (band). Thanks Tassedethe ( talk) 01:16, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to
The Bushranger (
submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by
Hurricanehink (
submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to
Yellow Evan (
submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for
Talk:Hurricane King/GA1,
Miyagawa (
submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for
Dognapping, and
Jarry1250 (
submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (
explanation), claiming for
Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!
A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hi,
Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.
We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.
We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom ( talk) 23:22, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
