Welcome!

Hello, Dripdrophydration, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Drip Drop Hydration requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{ unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{ unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. JohnCD ( talk) 19:34, 11 April 2012 (UTC) reply

could I be unblocked so I can make the necessary changes?

Hi Dripdrophydration. I am willing to consider unblocking you, but would like to ask a few questions first.
  • Will you request a username change that is in line with our username policy?
  • How do you intend to carry on contributing to Wikipedia if you are unblocked?
Thanks. ItsZippy ( talkcontributions) 20:35, 11 April 2012 (UTC) reply

I will request a username change that is in line with your username policy. I will contribute to Wikipedia by educating the readers about the importance of hydration and rehydration. Many people are unaware of the easy solution to rehydration, and many people suffer the consequences of dehydration. I would like to show them that there are faster, easier, and much safer way to rehydrate rather than going to the hospital. This may be a very valuable lesson that could potentially save a few lives. Please let me know what I can do to be unblocked. Thank you so much for your consideration! Dripdrophydration ( talk) 20:42, 11 April 2012 (UTC) reply

Comment by blocking admin: you must understand that Wikipedia is not for advertising or promotion of any kind and is extremely resistant to attempts to use it in that way. Your AfC submission was basically an advertisement for your company, and even if you change to an individual username, anything like that will be deleted at sight. You will need to convince any unblocking admin that you will not try to use Wikipedia to promote your company. Before placing an unblock request (the instructions are in the pink box above), read Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. 20:49, 11 April 2012 (UTC) JohnCD ( talk)
Thanks for your answers. As John said, if you are unblocked you must ensure that you do not engage in any promotional editing. When you say that you "would like to show them that there are faster, easier, and much safer way to rehydrate rather than going to the hospital", does this mean that you will continue to write articles about your company? ItsZippy ( talkcontributions) 21:06, 11 April 2012 (UTC) reply

I just want to stress the importance of rehydration, that's what the page will be focused on. I didn't mean it to be a promotional page, but educational. Thank you Zippy!— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dripdrophydration ( talkcontribs)

Ok, that's good to hear. I suggest you place an unblock template on your talk page (the instructions are in the box outlining your block, above) and wait for another admin to have a look and make a decision (after our conversation, I feel that I've become too involved to unblock you myself. This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

The purpose of the creation of this page will be to educate the public regarding the importance of hydration and rehydration. Many people are unaware of the easy, fast, and safe solution to rehydrate, and as a result, they suffer the consequences of dehydration. About 3 million people die of dehydration every year. The importance of an ORS cannot be understated, because it has been used in third world countries to help fight cholera and help save many lives. This is meant to be an educational piece. I hope that by writing this piece, a few lives could be helped. Thank you again for your consideration!

You still intend to violate our conflict of interest guideline and not responding to the questions of people who are trying to help you. Max Semenik ( talk) 12:06, 14 April 2012 (UTC) reply
Wikipedia is not a how to guide, nor a medical reference. The "article" you have worked on is inappropriate for this project. What else would you intend to work on? ( talk→  BWilkins  ←track) 20:49, 12 April 2012 (UTC) reply

Wikipedia is not the place to create a page to garner attention. If I put an ad on TV talking about hydration and dehydration (and the other things you are talking about), that would get attention for your cause. Now, doing this on Wikipedia still means it is pretty much an advertisement, as you are trying to get attention. I'm sorry, but you can't do that on Wikipedia. Still, you still might have some potential to be a good editor. As Bwilkins has said, what else are you able to do on Wikipedia? Thekillerpenguin (talk) 00:40, 13 April 2012 (UTC) P.S. If your topic is notable enough by Wikipedia standards, someone might just write a good article about it. reply

I regret to have to point out that your suggested article reads as an advertisement for a specific rehydration product, and as such will never be admissable here. The deleting admin also states that it is protected elsewhere by copyright law, which also prevents its publication here. Speaking professionally, which I am qualified to do, I would also say that the assertion that this product is superior to others - indeed, all others - would not be generally accepted by the medical profession, at least on the UK side of the pond. -- Anthony Bradbury "talk" 10:18, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply
  • And just one more point. Even if such an article were written from a non-promotional POV and didn't mention any specific products, if done in a style intended to "educate the public regarding the importance of..." whatever, it would most likely still not be acceptable, as that is not the way an encyclopedia is written. -- Boing! said Zebedee ( talk) 11:08, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply
Given that you are not going to be allowed to edit on the specific item you attempted to promote, what else do you want to write about if unblocked?-- Anthony Bradbury "talk" 22:01, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply

I apologize for the late response, and I thank you for all of your contributions. To answer Anthony's question: since my expertise is in the area of hydration, I will contribute to the corresponding articles by either finding the proper references, or adding verifiable information that has not yet been included in the articles. If unblocked, I will not write the article to promote this product, but I will simply provide a brief history of the product, and provide verifiable sources. Would this be allowable? I understand that my last posting appeared very promotional and I apologize. But would it be possible for me to be unblocked and edit the information (without publishing) and hopefully get feedback from the editors?
