November 2019

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on British Rail Class 390; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.Davey2010 Talk 09:33, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

@DrFrench: I noticed this issue at ANI. I skimmed the discussion at Talk:British Rail Class 390 but did not see any mention of a fundamental point regarding the disagreement. Please be aware that the community has rejected the idea that it is ok to edit war over unimportant matters (such as whitespace in an article which does not affect the display) or style matters (such as whether citation dates should be dmy or ymd). Fundamentally, the issue does not matter regardless of what a guideline might say and Wikipedia is not the right place to insist that the rules must be followed (see WP:BURO and WP:IAR). Collaboration and a peaceful community are much more important than date formats. Anyone can have a bad day, but editors who make a habit of forcing style changes are usually blocked. Actually, there is a logo that contains this text. Just that the TfW Rail Services article, for some reason, has the logo of the Welsh Government transport company (TfW), not the TfW Rail Services logo. Anamyd ( talk) 21:01, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
